It is my understanding that the only difference is the color. And there are black leaf Dufferin Phantoms out there too. The Phantoms are wood-to-wood, no joint collar (look like a 1 piece when screwed together), screw-in-shaft cues. There are many models of Dufferins with their "Signature" joint, which is aluminum collar with a 1/2-13 thread (about the largest you'll see, most other cues are 3/8 or 5/16).

When I was selling Dufferins back in the early ninties , I had a buy wanting a Green leaf
cue , I asked when I ordered for a green leaf cue , and what was the difference . They told No Difference in cue , just the color of lable , all the same . Jim

Did Dufferin produced both in the same quantity? I come across the red ones far more often than the green ones.

The Maple Leaf is Canadas emblem on our flag. The Green leaf represents the maple in the spring and summer, while the red leaf represents the leaf in autumn.

So the color of the leafs denotes the time of year that they were built.

Not true at all but a good story, yes?

I think I remember being told that it dates back to before biblical times. Eve wore these leaves in two colors to let Adam know if he should stop or go.I think. :scratchhead:

I have a buddy who bought one a few months ago and he claims its the best hitting cue he has had. He played with a predator for years. I know they use to make the best house cues. I had a guy to cut one for me so I could put it in a case. I picked it up out of the rack at a poolroom and liked it so much I bought.

I have had one for close to 15 years, still hits great, i just wish i wouldnt have had it turned down to 12 mm. Now when i switch over to a 13 mm i have to readjust.

The first cue I ever had was a Green Leaf Dufferin sneaky. (I still carry it in my case as a loaner cue) I was around 8 years old at the time, and the guy at the billiards store had green and red leaf ones on the rack. He said at the time that the green was a little higher quality. As if they hand sorted the better shafts or something for them.

Now 25 years later I find out that the guy was full of crap? What else in this world isn't as I was told as a child???

Christmas is coming up. Not sure how to break the news to you.

I have Dufferin Green leaf. I've observed several other Red leafs and I believe that mine is better quality. It is fitted with a lamented shaft that has perfect chevrons in the grain of the wood that extends all the way up to the tip. Its a pretty good idea in theory in my opinion, i think snooker cues are built like that? When put together the chevrons and the butterfly line up perfectly. It's the only one I've come across and can't seem to find much else on it.
I could be completely wrong! But this cue hits like a dream and is what inspired me to buy my custom Titlist. Full splice till i die!

My second cue I bought was a Dufferin Red label. It was an upgrade to my first cue, an earl strickland cuetec that had a fiberglass shaft. I wish i didn't trade that dufferin to a cabinetmaker i worked with in exchange to learn how to make doors...
