Just like Rhea but she has an instructor...
Only difference is Korn improved the last two or called 8 every month or two for 15 years.... LOL. People would get the line on him and by the time they came here or ran into him on the road their line was all bad.... I can't tell you how many times he would beat someone and I would hear "He sure plays better than what everyone told me he does....".
I've been friends with Chris for 20 years. Never seen him do one single drill. Never took a lesson. Until the past 5 years or so, rarely seen him practice. Before that he just stayed in the grease getting money (and getting better).....
Some people can do that. But they are rare. If someone has been playing for a while, and not showing much improvement, time to get someone to show you what you are doing wrong. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
DAMN SON...improving at that rate (bold text) means he must of been like not able to make the tip hit the cue ball when he started!! :thumbup:
Well from what you say there is hope for Rhea. She is in action and mowing em down left and right!!
LOL. From 17 to 19 or 20 or so, he did improve at that rate.... Point was, during that 15 years he constantly improved and never leveled off.
Today was full of adventure, first I dropped Gene off at the Pockets qualifier where he clawed his way through the losers bracket to double dip the hopeful champion whos dream of getting a shot at the $10,000.00 first place tournament was crushed by Gene.
Meanwhile at Lil's I made my way to the match before the hotseat where I played Shorty and in a hill-hill match was dispatched to the 1-loss side. Unfortunately Mitch who was dissapointed earlier by my 2-0 win to send him to the 1-loss was ready for some revenge and defeated me hill-hill for my 3rd place finish in the local tournament.
So then I went to bring Gene the van and he dropped me off over at Buddies Hideaway where I began climbing through the winner side again this time I am iced and stop playing for a very long time while waiting I get summoned by a local stranger who isn't in the bar often and doesn't know who I am. He decided he wants to teach me how to play pool. He is pretty tipsy and very aggressive in his approach so I decided to use his over-confidence against him and told him I would like to play for $5 a game, he kind of smirked and said make it $20. I called tails and away we went, playing 3 racks back to back 8-ball all awhile still waiting for my name to get called for my next match. Now I am up $60 and this guy still wants more, so I play him 1 last rack for his $5 in all singles. Then after that rack he says he will be back has to go out to the car to get more money and didn't come back.
Finally my name gets called and who do i play? Shorty who makes quick work of me and puts me in the losers bracket 2-0. I then win my next couple matches to get to the final 4. Then I play Jack an A++ player and he beats me 2-1 sending me packing. I call Gene and he comes to pick me up.

Why would i take a chance on killing myself or killing someone else there johnny?
I'm taking this siezure thing pretty serious as i should. It has ruined my life and health for about 7 months.
I feel so goofy from the meds that I can't drive the car and I don't feel like I can even put the key in the car safely.
if you took a few of these you would know why i can't drive. Maybe it will get better after a week or so of taking these but for right now it would be impossible to drive at all.
The good news is I wake up and my body is not all knotted up. My neck doesn't feel like it is broke and I can actually run my tooth brush with my right hand and arm in the morning.
I know you can understand pain and what pills can do to your ability to drive.
People don't even have a clue what I went through to try and travel and teach having these siezures for the last 7 months.
I played pretty good pool yesterday but it was not from the pills but from not having the pain because i had no siezures the night before. They made me real dizzy and sick to my stomach.
My second match I left 3 9 balls in the hole. Race to 5 that doesn't work very well..

Driving, you got to be kidding.
An Excel spreadsheet for recording and tracking who they played, how they played, what they bet, what they earned or lost with dates would be a great idea too.
For road players, the little black book rarely contained the names of girls, unless it was the name of a girl who would put them up for a stay.
In the old days, road players coveted their little black book used primarily to record who they might play, how they might play and for how much and often used it to double-dip.

i am not a doctor and by no means claim to be an expert on seizures gene but i lived 20 years with a woman that had seizures.
i am talking about major seizures. she ran the gamut from mild seizures where she wa still concious but unaware of her surroundings to what they call grand mal siezures. the kind where you have violent convulsions and lose control of your bodily functions such as peeing on your self or vomiting. she would be sore for days and have bruises all over her body from hitting everything in her vicinity.
she had a seizure and went into a coma for 9 days one time. back in the early 80's there was not as much medical knowledge about seizures as there is now. she was sorta like a human guina pig. they had her on dilantin, buspar and phenabarbital seperately and even all at one time on occasion. the dr. had me keep a journal of how often and how serious her siezures were and gave him a report every week. they adjusted her dosage almost every week from one med to another.
i read all i could find about the subject.
it seemed like the seizures would be triggered by extreme exhaustion or a change in emotions such as anxiety or being irate about something. after 5 years i finally convinced her to quit taking all that medication and try to lead a normal life. i did every thing i could to keep her calm and not let her get emotional about anything. the seizures started becoming less severe and less frequent. we have been seperated for 8 years now but i keep in weekly contact because she has my son. she has only had one in the last 3 years.
one thing i did read about seizures is that they can be caused by a blow to the head. didnt you say you had a concussion in a wreck? just speculation on my part but that could be the cause of your seizures.
by all means i am not saying what worked for her will work for you but by all means follow your drs. advice. i would still try not to get upset about anything because i think that is one thing that does trigger neuroligical disoders in your brain which could bring on a seizure.
best of luck to you gene in getting this under control.
This would be really easy to setup and probably wouldn't take too long to do. You could do 2 tabs or worksheets with one documenting who you played/spots/win/loss etc...the other for expenses/income i.e. cash flow.
I was elated to know that Gene pulled off the first place win at the qualifier and began to make what I thought were really good plans. I had 3 different plans that would take us in 3 different directions based on Genes decision.
First I thought it would be a good idea to leave Monday morning from Newport News, VA and head to Albermarle NC for a $1000 added tournament happening this coming Saturday, the distance is only 6 1/2 hours and I rationalized that its only 1 hour outside of Charlotte NC where there is a huge population and plenty of lessons that Gene could book, afterall we don't have anywhere specific to be until Dec 7th.
Our 2nd option would have been to drive the same distance to Valley Forge in Penssylvania for the Allen Hopkins event, but the cost of rooms would set us back at least $500 for nights. However with all the events I felt we would have a chance at cashing in some of them if not at least cashing in the women's event.
Our third option would have been to head 11 hours to Rhode Island for a $5000 added tournament this coming Saturday, I figure both the Albermarle and the RI event would be weakened since they are happening durring the same weekend as Valley Forge so most of the heavy hitters would be at Valley Forge.

Ya know, I've been reading your posts for awhile,, and while I know you are old, do you need to be so bitter as well, it really is not a good combination.
And you're wrong, I'm positive there is not a "seizure exclusion" in his auto policy, but nice try with taking yet again another cheap shot at someone who is doing nothing to hurt anyone, but is actually promoting the game we all love. POOL.

These pills I'm taking are really knocking my socks off. Not only would I have trouble driving but i don't even feel like riding.
I don't want to drive way over here or there and waste our money and time if i can't play and teach because I feel to goofy.
My mind is kind of tired right now.
I even forgot that i gave a guy a lesson yesterday and tried to talk him into another.
I remembered once he brought it up but I was really surprised I didn't have a clue.
Tonight after I shoot some i will make a decision on where we will go. Rhea gets going and wants to make a decision right now with very little thought sometimes.
I have allot of things going on right now mentally with this seizure thing going on and the meds are making me real tired.
Who knows there Pete. maybe we can get over to your neck of the woods before we head back to the mid west.
I need to stay in the area to play in this 20,000 tourny in Middlelothian a month from now and i need to stay close to my neurologist/
