now how about if you have an Irish chicken . . .

okay, here we go:

at 17:00 look at the tough safety efren lays on keith only to have the earthquake kick across the table striking the two and, yep, the 2 hunts down the 9 ball slow rolling it into the corner. Keith says "I didn't know that shot" and "that was a nice one to luck in". Then he destroys the next rack with his break pocketing 5 balls making real fast work of that game.

At 21:00 efren gets called for a foul on a close hit splitting the 3-5 and keith accepts the ball-in-hand saying he'll take it but "it didn't look bad to me". he let the ref know two or three times. :grin-square:

this was the quarter final and in the upcoming semi final between keith and earl, either miz or barry said of keith's attire (the blue sparkly bow-tie and cummerbund), "he's the only guy I know who buys his formal wear at fredricks of Hollywood". :grin-square::grin::grin-square:

that match can be seen here:

how can you not love this guy? I mean, as long as you're not playing him . . .

wish there were more matches with him on video.

I have one on VHS tape, but the ribbon broke. As soon as I get it fixed by a professional, I am going to upload it. It is better video quality. It shows Keith, Jimmy Reid, Mike Sigel, Earl Strickland and others in Atlantic City on ESPN. It's a real beauty. ;)

Nice to have the McC in the house, unless you are in line to play him!

In the words of Arnie, he'll be back. The Keith McCready Show will be playing in a neighborhood pool room when you least expect it. :winknudge:

You're such a tease JAM!

Hey, if Earl can do it at 52, Keith can do it too! ;)

Nice homage Brian, what a treat to watch. :) The man is a fearless, unorthodox, amazingly talented player, as evidenced by that kick at 4:20. Combined with his charisma, it's no wonder he's one of the most liked players of all time.

So many hope to see him take another shot at it. How he may choose to come back into it??????

How'd he hit the lag also?

That's the kind of kick where's it's appropriate to say WAKAAAOOOOOOO like bruce lee.

Great match, thanks for the upload. Weird to see all these dry breaks in 9b.
The game's definitely changed with the new focus on the rack.

check out the nice kick at 4:20

Note that Keith kicked to the opposite side of the side pocket that the commentator
suggested. This allows him to hit whitey below center, which creates the mathematically-
pleasing 'angle in, angle out'.....if he hits the other side, he must hit high ball, which curves
long, thereby bringing physics into the shot,
Low ball also keeps whitey from jumping off the rail, allowing him to hit harder.
( hit it too low, and whitey shortens)

pt, I saw this right away, that the miz drew his telestrator line above the side pocket rather than below it, the path that keith took.

I'm not so good with the mathematics/physics involved but the feel of it would have had me kicking below center pocket, as well. He could also have loaded up whitey with low left and less speed using the above center pocket kick option, especially given the new, slippery cloth which the miz alluded to later in the match. still pretty ambitious (and much more effort, imo), though it could have ended up with a billiard.

I agree 100% with all you said above

best,

This is a classic Keith ---> HERE

He looked like he had been up all night. Buddy Hall commentating. I love Buddy's cackle. :grin-loving:

The jargon the commentators use is priceless:

COMMENTATOR: "If he spins he, he can't hold no rug nowhere."
BUDDY: "He might try to spin snow right into the 5."

Keith makes the shot: "Can't hear nobody now." :grin-square:

GREAT ENDING!
