NO Match for Harriman/Schmidt

Then you acknowledge that the enforcement of site rules is purely, 100% subjective? If every post is subject to review, as you state, and only a few select ones are actually censored/deleted, then we should conclude that there is no uniformity to how that process is conducted. Hence, my two examples, and why a thoughtful review of present policies/enforcement should be considered.

Thank you for demonstrating the need for concern.

I disagree.

Please refer to the rules as I've written them.

Every single aspect of this site is "subjective". This is private property and guests are as unique as whatever perspective they care to share.

now, that said...I'm not worried about trying to please everyone and I really, really don't care how passive aggressive anyone cares to act when they don't get the rolls their way.

I do also have a question for you.

Since you care so much ( as demonstrated by your post ) why didn't you report the perceived infractions? Was it not worth the bother?

Yes if you are personal friend of the moderator, you get a free pass (and invited to his house for dinner).

If you are a cue maker, you get a free pass and any negative thread about you deleted.

NYC Cue Dude - this is what happens when you try to bring logic to what is moderated.

Find me ANY post on AZB that I could not delete based on the broad scope of these "rules". How about just the "offensive" part? Name anything that EVERYONE agrees is non-offensive.

Can you seriously suggest that I apply the above quote to every post on AZB? ...Hmm? Maybe just the ones the most vocal people would have me remove?

Ain't that somethin'?

You ask a good question with a little conviction (everyone is dying to know how people pay donations to enter but can't leave with the "scholarship" in hand) and now all of a sudden you find yourself being spun into a "bad guy."

Wilson, you're gonna soon find yourself in a position where you're gonna say it "like it is" and it's not gonna matter if you're addressing a guy, a woman or a pygmy transvestite midget... unnerstah whuh um sayin'?

Only difference between you and me is that you got the juice. :)

They spin you right round baby....like a record baby right round round round.

Anytime there are a large number of forum members on one thread.... There's definitely character clashes. A blend of sarcasm, optimism and pessimist all in one conversation .
That's what makes AZ the best forum in my opinion .
Devils brew maybe? I've never been one to challenge the authority or question them. To be honest I find it more of a privalidge than a right to be a member and 99% of the time you know your out of line and forewarned before earning a ban.

I stayed above the fray. And because I'm not a moderator. You'd have to be blind or indifferent not to see or care about what transpired in this thread.

I had a nearly 4 hour conversation with Kimberly almost 2 weeks ago. I didn't post about it because it was confidential. I have a very good understanding about what str8shotsisdoing and what their goals are. I support them in what they are trying to achieve.

It wasn't my place to defend them either, just as it wasn't my place to moderate the board. Neither of them are my job.

We will use the rules you have referred to then

AzBilliards Forums Rules
Although the administrators and moderators of AzBilliards Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of AzBilliards Forums, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

To be included, there will be no ad hominem attacks. No name calling nor insults. Disagreeing with someone is fine, but calling them an idiot because of their opinion is not.

All posts will be kept civil.

The owners of AzBilliards Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

After listening to the rules you have written, there is even more to suggest that this thread should have been deleted a month ago just based on the no ad hominem clause. Ad hominem attacks can take the form of overtly attacking somebody, or more subtly casting doubt on their character or personal attributes as a way to discredit their argument. The result of an ad hominem attack can be to undermine someone's case without actually having to engage with it.

Let me put it another way. Let’s just look at the thread in detail. People were upset that Str8 Shots does not want to do the Harriman Schmidt match. On pages 7, 8, and 10 it was implied by several individuals, that we are scamming(a fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit) charities and/or youth. Summary: People were ticked about a match we refused to partake in and attacked me and/or our companies credibility without a shred of proof and it was allowed to remain.

Based on your response and the rules you provided, am I to assume that the moderators cannot see where the no ad hominem rule or some of the other rules have been violated?

There have been many people on these forums that have accused promoters of screwing them out of money. Can you point me to a thread where the sponsors of the event have been attacked because of what the promoters chose to do and you all allowed it to remain on AZ?

Let me clarify something. I did not ask about all of the threads on AZ as I am not familiar with all of them. I asked about the threads that are trashing me and our company. We are not talking about calling someone an idiot here. We are talking about people, who hide behind usernames, making some pretty strong claims of fraudulent activity that was supposedly performed by our company.

I have taken the time to answer peoples questions so I see no harm in asking that people take some time to answer mine.

Stayed above the fray....copout, if the posts so bothered you you could take a second the hit the Report button and express your concerns, at which time they would be looked at. There is no way a moderator reads every thread/post on here. They pretty much rely on others to bring things to their attention, for the most part.

SpiderWebComm

I am not sure what your problem is with me and/or our company. We sponsored an event. We gave $3500.00 to an event to have our company promoted. Many companies in this industry sponsor tournaments/events. When players at the US 9-Ball Open went weeks without payment last year, did you all attack Aramith, Simonis, or Diamond? Did you all accuse those sponsors of scamming people?

It's laughable to assume that with the amount of views and replies this thread generated, NOT TO MENTION THE NUMEROUS MODERATOR WARNINGS contained herein, that the administrators were precisely aware of what was transpiring. We can ONLY conclude that they didn't feel there were any transgressions that were actionable. And I say this without casting my own aspersions that they either didn't care or actually supported the slanderous posts. My only comment is that they were aware and chose to do nothing. I am not assigning any rationale for it.

Yeah, he stayed above the fray..... until he didn't.

Except I am not defending any entity nor am I reviling any particular posters.

What I am doing is questioning the process of moderation. And under these circumstances, a very critical question that deserves to be addressed, specifically, as it relates to the questionable content contained within this thread.

Kimberly, specifically...

I do NOT sit around and amuse myself by searching the thousands upon thousands of threads on AZB looking for perceived sleights.

You have alot of people crying about the rules.

Ask them, they seem to be friendly toward you...why didn't they care enough to report these party fouls? I came to this thread due to other issues.

Everyone wants to be an armchair quarterback whenever the rules don't roll their way..but are just fine with it..." above the fray " as it seems when it is going their way or they don't care.

If people want an issue looked into, they need to report the post in question and I will review it. It is naive to think that I'm omnipotent and that I care about everyone's posts.

Just because I review it doesn't mean I'll see things the way you wish though.

P.S....I *still* haven't read this whole thread and do not care to.
