The Mosconi Cup 2014 onwards

In view of the poor showing by the US team maybe it is time for a radical rethink of how future US teams are compiled. Under the status quo it can only be a matter of time before public interest in a One Horse Race fades.

What would work is for someone to come up with a proposal to Matchroom to take responsibility for the US team. They could then compile a squad of maybe 10 younger players who would be the core from which future players are selected.

They could associate with each other at other major events and hopefully engender some team spirit over the course of a season. Maybe the US might have a chance then.

How about that one for Badi Navhat if he wants to get a foothold in the American game. In the longer term he could enlarge his squad up to 16 or 32 and have a tournament schedule just for them. They would be the only TRUE US PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS.

Here is my list of names for what its worth!!!

P.S. I think the 14.1 Kings are better suited for this then the kings of 9 Ball!!! The break is neutralized in Mosconi Cup and that changes the selections. The rack mechanics do well in the 9 and 10 ball events cause the BREAK is so big and gives them an edge more then ball potting!!!

1. John Schmidt
2. Danny Harriman
3. Corey Deuel
4. SVB
5. Brandon Shuff
6. John Brumback
7. Jeremy Jones
8. Mike Davis
9. Jesse Bowman
10. Chip Compton
11. Joey Gray
12. Justin Hall
13.Oscar Dominguez
14. Chris Bartrum
15. Justin Bergman
16. Max Eberle
17. Landon Shuffet
18. Skyler Woodard
19. Danny Smith
20. Shannon Murphy

Honorable mention but hurt Hennessee
Earl and Hatch and Rodney and Mike Dechaine would struggle with MOST of this list with the break neutralized like Mosconi Cup does and playing 14.1 would be a joke! One Pocket a joke! Banks a Joke! Its their big break or rack mechanics and not much else!!! Sad to say!

Actually I wish Shane and all the other top Americans would decline MC participation. Watch how fast it dries up. But they won't turn down a $5k free roll and a free week in a hotel in Vegas. Shane would but Hatch and Morris would be waiting for early check in at the hotel like it was a court date. Team Euro needs to learn to win with dignity. I mean look at the team we put out there. Archer looks like he's lost a few steps and Morris and Hatch aren't the players they once were. And the MC was an overwhelming success for viewership everywhere else in the world but America. I had to watch it in front of my computer on a choppy stream. Glad we could be humiliated for the worlds enjoyment. And cheers to Barry Hearn for all he has done for the Americans. I mean he's made millions on the backs of American pool players and he tosses the loser a $5k bone. It's not worth it for America to continue to help and support Barry Hearn and Matchroom.

Hey, I got an idea. Let's take an emotionally disturbed genius and get him all charged up with his own one hour TV special. Then let's turn him loose and put some pressure on him and see what crazy shit he will do so the folks back in Staffordshire can have something interesting to watch on telly while having biscuits and tea.

Please just let pool die gracefully in America and stop abusing Earl and the Americans for your sick European pleasures.

I think this year's Mosconi Cup is a success in Europe. I would think the average European pool fan loves seeing their team beat the daylights out of our team. In fact anyone outside of the US where this might be televised probably loves seeing USA go down. It isn't televised in the US any ways, so we already know there are no US fans outside of this forum. Based on this I would think the Mosconi Cup this year is a success for Matchroom. Though I think everyone involved, players, matchroom, and fans, would have preferred to see this go four days.

Go **** yourself. You *****s are all for show and have very little substance or grit. You spend 25 years trying to emulate the American pool player. And as the sport grows in popularity you begin to develop pockets of talent in various EU countries. I mean what else is their to do in Norway and Finland in the winter ... play pool or eat raw fish. Then a marketing genius steals the name Mosconi and creates the Cup and builds a team drawing on all of Europe where billiards is growing in participation which is close to 1 Billion people and still couldn't complete with the USA for many years. Meanwhile back at the ranch pool has been on a downward spiral since the creation of the Cup and oh yeah, we can only draw from the 310 Million Americans. Meanwhile half of Team Europe lives in the USA and most of the best European players wish they were here as well. Then we have to listen to all the hype and listen to Karl Boyles' interview as he basically kicks Earl while he's down.

Great victory for team Europe. You guys really did something. You are so amazing.

Lol.

So profanity is not limited to players on camera. The four star insult I believe I know but I am not sure what the five star one is.

Last time I checked Hungary was part of Europe. Now I assume that you are not a North American Indian so either you or your forebearers did the very thing that you berate Mika and Darren for doing by making their own lifestyle choices.
Then you racially stereotype your Scandanavian cousins. Finally, you disrespect Karl BOYES , a player with a World title under his belt, by misspelling his name
And I hadn't even mentioned that you called 'the marketing genius' a thief.
Not bad for only a dozen sentences you M*l*j*st*d Magyar (M*********** is optional)

You really have got a lot of anger burning inside of you. It is probably a good thing that not all pool fans in the USA think like you.
One time in Cardiff I saw a leading player declare that we top 16 players should should tell Barry Hearn that we want to run the TV events. Otherwise we won't play in them. Barry's reaction ... so the players ranked 17 to 32 are now the Top 16. That didn't happen. I wonder why? The following year a delegation of US players requested a meeting with him. Seven of them turned up. So what do you want asked Barry. I was in the room at the time but I cannot remember what the issues were. But whatever they were the seven players had five or six different opinions about them. FAIL.
Pool needs Barry a lot more than Barry needs pool. The Mosconi Cup could easily beome Europe versus Asia. Even without the talent bank of the Filipinos there are enough stars in China and Taiwan such as Kuo, Ko, Ko, Chang, Chang and Chang to satisfy a gargantuan TV market. These guys are sporting heroes over there.
It is kind of a No Brainer having a match against a team that hardly anybody wants to watch against a country where pool is almost a daily occurence on TV.

I connected it via these quotes above for a singular leader in Badi Nazhat or Greg Sullivan and a limited list of invited players.

I posted a list of potential players who should be considered and why in my opinion! Just trying to help for what its worth!

LOL I am not sure his Hungarian family or Scandinavian cousin is going to lose too much sleep over this.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=269708

The reason for the name Hungarian Nut. There was a pool team who was named the Hungarian Nuts. And they could spot most any other team in the World at that time the Hungarian Nuts. And one of the players can still spot just about anyone in the world today. So the name fit. I highly admired this team and to this day I am friends with most of the original members.

And just say shit for cryin out loud! You can't say **** or *****, but shit is just fine.

Fair enough. And I agree with most of your choices. Job well done

Tell me this, what exactly does the Matchroom Cup do for America besides hand out a few dollars to a few broke American pool players?

If the MC ever went to Europe vs Asia I would feel sorry for the U.S fans that go to the cup when it's here in the states. On the other hand I'm sure there are more people like myself that as long as they could watch it live on TV or stream that just want to see the best players in the world and best pool there can be. Pointwise:

No one is arguing that leadership is missing in American Pool.

What exactly does Barry Hearn's Matchroom do for America?

The "Mosconi" Cup without the USA would be like The Joe Davis Cup of Snooker without England.

Why do you have such disdain for America?

You really have got a lot of anger burning inside of you. It is probably a good thing that not all pool fans in the USA think like you.

There is certainly no disdain for America and if you read my original post I am trying to be constructive. I am acquainted with 90% of the World's top players including the US contingent. Many are close friend. \\\So I am concerned about the welfare of the game . My opinions come with a considerable amount of experience
To paraphrase one of your famous political figures
ASK NOT WHAT BARRY CAN DO FOR AMERICA. ASK WHAT AMERICA CAN DO FOR BARRY

Well we tried to give him Bonus Ball.

Oh wait that pesky 'Canadian' thing again. When are just gonna annex them?
