In view of the poor showing by the US team maybe it is time for a radical rethink of how future US teams are compiled. Under the status quo it can only be a matter of time before public interest in a One Horse Race fades.
What would work is for someone to come up with a proposal to Matchroom to take responsibility for the US team. They could then compile a squad of maybe 10 younger players who would be the core from which future players are selected.
They could associate with each other at other major events and hopefully engender some team spirit over the course of a season. Maybe the US might have a chance then.
How about that one for Badi Navhat if he wants to get a foothold in the American game. In the longer term he could enlarge his squad up to 16 or 32 and have a tournament schedule just for them. They would be the only TRUE US PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS.
Here is my list of names for what its worth!!!
P.S. I think the 14.1 Kings are better suited for this then the kings of 9 Ball!!! The break is neutralized in Mosconi Cup and that changes the selections. The rack mechanics do well in the 9 and 10 ball events cause the BREAK is so big and gives them an edge more then ball potting!!!
1. John Schmidt
2. Danny Harriman
3. Corey Deuel
4. SVB
5. Brandon Shuff
6. John Brumback
7. Jeremy Jones
8. Mike Davis
9. Jesse Bowman
10. Chip Compton
11. Joey Gray
12. Justin Hall
13.Oscar Dominguez
14. Chris Bartrum
15. Justin Bergman
16. Max Eberle
17. Landon Shuffet
18. Skyler Woodard
19. Danny Smith
20. Shannon Murphy
Honorable mention but hurt Hennessee
Earl and Hatch and Rodney and Mike Dechaine would struggle with MOST of this list with the break neutralized like Mosconi Cup does and playing 14.1 would be a joke! One Pocket a joke! Banks a Joke! Its their big break or rack mechanics and not much else!!! Sad to say!
