It's actually all breaks over 50 during that competition. They added the young lads break I suspect for motivation. So I'm sure Corey had a 30 at some point.

We saw Corey make a 68 in his first snooker tournament, so I'm sure he's capable of much more. But it's tough to make breaks against top notch competition as they just don't give you the chances. I was speaking to an excellent player last night and he said if you can't get your long game going you probably won't get the chances you need for big breaks.

Yes I was aware of his 68 but much tougher against harder competition.

They won't be spreading the balls for you.
 
The 8 year old, Iulian from the Ukraine, won 1 frame, against Lee Walker. Lee showed a lot of class.

Well, actually he won 2 in all. I still think Lee showed a lot of class.

Zhou and Zhao

Zhou Yuelong is facing off with Lee Walker in the semis (down to 4)

Zhao Xintong plays Muhammad Sajjad.

Zhou is 15 years old; Zhao is 16. Zhou was 2nd place in the U21s held in Beijing in July. Can't seem to find out how Zhao did in 2013. In 2012 Zhao made it to the last 8.

What is the Masters Division, by the way? Are they better than the amateurs (Walker, Zhou, Zhao and Muhammad)?

I believe it is simply an age division. Over 50? I think this kind of division is often called "seniors."

I love snooker and I follow most tournaments, the pro ones and the big amateur tournies as well
before the tournament I was really happy to see Corey's name on the list
I knew he would probably make some interest in snooker in the US, thought only until hes in but good to see some are still following it
the only thing I dont like in snooker is that still most of the pros are British and I think the USA would be very important for snooker

the number at the middle of the scoreboard in parentheses shows the highest number of possible frames - this time its 13, its a best of 13
the breaks table shows all the 50+ break, plus I think Boiko's 31 is added just to show that he can play even if hes only 8 :smile: so Corey didnt have a 50+

here is the page for the 2013 u21, Zhao lost in the last 32, but he had some success in snooker since then, got a wild card in the 2013 international championship and reached the last 16

Lee Walker is a former pro, and was a finalist here in 2011, losing to 17 year old Hossein Vafaei of Iran (who couldnt compete on the pro tour since then, couldnt get a visa to the UK)

the Masters is 40+

also, if you want to watch the ibsf, they now have proper streaming on table 5 and 6, sometimes also with commentary
but I recommend watching the UK championship, the second biggest ranking event on the pro tour, filmon.com on bbc one or two, second session of the second semi in a few minutes, tomorrow the final :thumbup: Mark Selby's just made the 100th official maximum there today

IBSF: go to the live scoring page and if there is streaming for the table it says "Show table x / Video" I think and then click on "Video"
finals start tomorrow at 10:00 (local time I think), second session of final is 15:00

UK Championship final tomorrow 1:55 pm British time on bbc two, you can watch here
it is world number 1 against world number two, Neil Robertson-Mark Selby so should be good

Zhou versus Zhau

Zhou looks to be the favorite (or not).

Looking at the 2013 International Championships, played just over a month ago, Zhao lost to Marco Fu. Fu next played and defeated Mark Selby, who word has it is #2 in the World. So Fu is no slouch.

In the sub-21 played in Beijing in July of 2013, Zhao lost to Michal Zielinski of Poland. Michal next faced Zhou, who trounced the young Pole 5 frames to 1.

Zhou ultimately finished 2nd in the sub-21s.

Zhou does not seem to have played in the 2013 International Championship.

So Zhou does seem to be the favorite. He is 15 years old and Zhao is 16.

I'll pull for Zhao but no bets for me please.
 
Hmm.. I don't feel so bad now..

My home room in Tacoma had a full sized snooker table with Simonis 860 on it.. I used to practice on it with pool balls.. Long shots and all..

Later on, I went to Thailand for 45 days with the Army and after practicing and playing with the locals a bit, I was beating the best players the little town of Pitsanoluk had.. They were just regular players, but still.. A few bhat were wagered at the game they played, where the back row of reds were taken off..

I had a lot of runs of 30+, a few of 40+, and back in North America, I went to a tournament in Abbottsford, Canada and had a break of 50+ in what was probably one of only 2-3 games of full rack snooker I had played in my life.

Seeing that Corey's high run in competition was 68 doesn't make me feel so horrible anymore.

Than again, I only got to play the game for a very short time, and that was when I was 22. :grin:
