Just randomly went to OBs Facebook page from a link from my league page, and read this.
"We would like to wish the very best of luck to Allison Fisher who is playing today at 4pm in the 2013 Women's Tournament of Champions at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA." <-- this was on 12/5
"Tomorrow (Friday December 6th) there will be another free event also being filmed for broadcast on ESPN and that is The World Cup of Trick Shots Starting at 3:00 pm"
Springfield MA is about an hour drive from me, I am around tons of pool players several times a week. This is the first I heard that the tournament of champions for women was being held pretty much next to my house.
I would have gone, my son would have gone, several of my pool buddies would have gone.
Pool will never make money if we have to hunt down for information as to where events are. Mosconi Cup, I'm sure hundreds of us wanted to give them money to watch the official stream, but there was no way so we all just watched the free one.
There is probably a few million $$$ extra to be made in pool if the people putting on events actually figure out how to find the people that want to give them money.
I'm now just pissed that I missed this event so close to me because whoever was putting on the event did not let one single pool hall in the area know it was going on. I mean not even a buzz of anyone saying "hey, there is this tournament thing somewhere with women, wonder what it is" anywhere in my area.
