On The Road Again with Perfect Aim....

Thanks Joey and to all the AZers that understand.............

The grieving process has its own personal clock. The length of time for grieving can have little to do with how much you loved someone. It's different for each of us.

Grieving eventually morphs into just missing someone, which is grieving with less pain and less of the other baggage items. It's natural, just don't try to fight it. Gene, you'll know when to roll.

JoeyA

I'm back in Eau Claire and staying at my mothers. There are many things to go through. I'm sure many of you have been through this and understand.

Just not going anywhere until I feel I want to.

feel real bad about Rhea. She wants to go but there just isn't no go to me right now.

I hope someone comes up with a great spot for her to come to. She's come a long ways and her journey is not over.

I'll be back better and stronger than ever before. This will also give me some time to see some doctors and really get these siezures under control.

Thanks everyone for your kind words that have really helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life.

Gene you definitely will need some down time... If you are staying at your mom's I'd say venture out and see the green therapist for a few hours each day and just watch and listen to the balls.. No need to teach or match up.. and then go back home... Take the time to sort thru her things and figure out who would want what and donate the rest.. You get to say goodbye with every item you go thru even tho she will always be with you...

Solace and reflection will do as much good as close friends and family... The right mixture of both will be up to you but you will find it and it will help move you through this time...

Prayers are with you my friend,
Chris

Down but not out by no means...........

I have heard horror stories about deaths and wills and I hope my mothers death doesn't end like one of these. Some very strange events behind the scenes. might be nothing but you never know.

I go tomorrow for an EEG to see what's up with these seizures. I hope they come up with something. There are allot of side effects from the meds I take right now. The good news is my game is still up there pretty good even though I havn't played for about 3 weeks.

Still having seizures, in fact I had a bunch last night even though I take the meds. Slept 12 hours and felt like I only got 6.

Rhea is off to Tulsa. I feel like I'm sending my kid off to camp only for a long time. We've had a good journey. it's just sad it had to end this way for now. I feel like i let her down but it is what it is. She is so much better off now than she was before. Light years ahead of where she was at but still there is so much to learn.

I'm going to work on my health for now. Exercise and eating right with some much needed practice and I am still doing lessons.

I might even start doing the free phone lessons again teaching players how Perfect Aim works. Had so much fun doing it when I was hurt about 2 years ago.

The doc explained to me why the meds helped me play so much better right away. The brain was firing too fast and the meds slowed it down. I felt like I was just gazing at the balls before. Now I can zero right in. It sure is much easier to play.

I told Rhea that she needs to get a job down there and maybe get a part time job at a poolhall. That way she could play more pool and not pay for practice. She is on her way. If players could see where she was at 3 months ago and where she is now they wouldn't believe it.

If I took her back to Columbus she would rob players that she couldn't beat 4 months ago. But that would only last so long because the action would dry up fast once players caught on.

For me i will definitely stay in Wisconsin until mid January and then head to the Derby to play a $1000 set on that 10 footer. Sounds like Lee is going to give it a shot and see if he can beat me. Good Luck Mr Brett.

I'll be there barring a disaster with my health. I'm doing everything I can right now to help my body heal.

I want to thank everyone for all the support during one of the toughest months of my life. I read every one of the posts on my thread and was very thankful for all the friends I have made on AZ. It really made a difference and helped me cope.

Thanks again Gene................

Thanks for the update Gene. Keep us in the loop. We're all pulling for you.

EEG was normal....good thing...........

Don't know what that means but it has to be good.

Still having seizures though but the pills help. Must not be having as many. Feel better during the day.

Rhea got on the bus today. it sure is quiet around here. She always wanted to go go go and go some more.

What a great experience though having a student on the road to train not only pool but how to survive on the road. A skill all by itself.

For me it's back to business of giving a few lessons and trying to get back in to the swing of things.

Took Rhea to Marshfield last night and got to play some myself. Played pretty good for not playing much. Even set up a lesson or maybe 2.

I'm setting up a camera in the bedroom with a motion sensor to get some pictures of my seizures. I will just take that to the nuerologist.

Back to one man a van and the road.............

Got out and around last night

Went to visit an old friend last night. Rob Hovic.

He does dental work and he told me he could make me a tooth. My teeth are a mess from having these seizures.

I went to his house over by Marshfield and it didn't take long to get to the pool table. Rob plays at a very high level as most of the players in Wisconsin know. it was fun to share some of the new ground breaking info that I have aquired with my travels teaching Perfect Aim.

Then we went back to do some impressions for my tooth. When we were back in his work office his dog got into my small pull along suitcase that I keep all my teaching stuff in and ate my sandwiches. How funny was that.

I was starting to feel like I needed a little boost with the blood sugar and they were gone. Pretty smart dog. Once the deed was done she had totally disappeared.

Then Rob and myself played some 10 ball for about an hour. I finally had to go because I just had to eat something.

It's so great to have friends. This will save me a big chunk of money.

And Rob has been one of my good friends for a long, long time.

I'll go back in about a week to finish the process and then we will see where Rob is at with what I showed him.

It's so fun to show someone of Robs caliber and create so many WOW moments.

Can't wait to go back and get my tooth and can't wait to show Rob the rest of Perfect Aim.

One great night.

Gene,

If it turns out to be epilepsy, here's a pretty good read on the nocturnal variety. The bottom line is to establish regular sleeping habits, knock off the caffeine, use no sedatives. Don't allow yourself to become overly sleepy or you could experience daytime seizures and driving could be deadly.

Went to Beloit today........

What a great job these guys do with this tourny. Month after month after month.

I drove 5 hours to get there and played all day and night. I slept about 9 hours and I don't think I had any seizures.

I just flat out played real bad one set and got in the losers. Then I was playing Ike Reynolds and it was a battle of the scratches on the break. I think we both scratched 4 or 5 times.

Finally it was hill hill and I was breaking. I hit the head ball perfect and it came back and squated. A ball came off the foot rail and sent it up to the upper left hand corner. Then a ball came of the right side pocket tit and ran it closer to the pocket. With one ball still rolling it ran right into it and dumped it in the corner pocket.

ike only had to shoot in 54 balls and the 8 ball. match over.

The good news is i didn't run out of gas. I don't know how long I've had these seizures but as soon as the pill wears off my vision gets blurry. Had trouble driving the 4 hours back home and took a pill and cleared things right up.

Hardly played for about 3 weeks so this was very promising. Can't wait to get in another tourny next weekend.

There's a great one at the Varsity Club in Oshkosh, Wi.

Filled up but I just got on the waiting list.

really tired. talk to you all tomorrow.

I am very concerned that you are driving a vehicle while at risk of a seizure, you
may be putting lives at risk.

Have you taken advice from a doctor?

My oldest daughter has had seizures since she was 5 years old, she is over 40 now. We took her to every top doctor in NY at the time and for a good 10 years after. She had every test possible back then and couldn't find the problem. After she got married at 20 years old she went to several more top doctors and had every available test done finding nothing that caused them. Sometimes you never will know why. One thing the doctor told her was DON'T Drive because of the seizures and the meds. Her poor husband, God bless him has two jobs. He has his regular job and his job of doing all the driving for the family. Shopping, girls to ball games (both have full scholarships already) and anywhere else wife and kids need to go. She couldn't have got a better husband if she dated 1000 guys. Johnnyt

Just sayin....

While your concerns aren't something to be glossed over lightly, for some of those who have not been reading Gene's journey very long, everyone should know that Gene has NEVER reported having a seizure during the day.

One more thought on the seizure issue. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't it Rhea that first noticed them one night while Geno was sleeping? If so and she hasn't already been given credit for that, she deserves to be commended for having Geno's back on that one. It could have been a life saving event for him.

I think nocternal epilepsy is very consistent with episodes happening almost exclusively while you sleep. I think gene having then during the day are as likely as someone having a stoke a heart attack or a non epileptic seizure for that matter. He may have had these for decades without knowing.

I couldn't agree more............

And yes I do have these during the day but they are very short.

When I notice them the most is when I'm down on a shot and my eyes will roll up to the top. Only lasts a second and I can usually stay down and still make the shot.

Now I get back up. I would miss a shot or 2 per set for sure.

I don't really notice it allot otherwise because I'm not focusing on something.

Now when I go to the grocery store and I look at all the bread I can find the brand I am looking for. I couldn't focus enough to find it quickly. it took a little while. Unless a person experiences this it's hard to imagine.

I was blaming my blurry vision on diabetes which I have under control pretty much.

when the vision gets blurry I take a pill. Clears right up. I can read all the road signs clearly even the small print again. The downside is the pills make you kind of sick to the stomach a little and sleepy.

I heard on the internet that the side effects can be worse than the seizures.

At least I can play pool.

I agree though. Rhea probably saved my life. My pool life for sure.

It's pretty hard to run out when you can't even focus enough to figure out how too:rolleyes:.

I'm gonna practice and win one next weekend. It's fun to see the fear in the eyes of the person you are playing when they think you're never going to miss or they see you pull off a shot or shape you know they can't do with great success.

Oh and by the way. Rhea won $50 the first night in Tulsa and $200 the next. Didn't do well in the tourny but for her to use what she has learned to get the cash is huge.

We might hook up again at the derby. With the desire that she has and determination you never know what might happen.

It's fun to be around anyone that has such a desire for the game. And that she does for sure.

For now, One man a van and the road.

Hey Geno, At least you have some inclination as to what is going on with your health that's certainly a step in the right direction. I think we are pretty close in age so we both know that the sun is setting on the days were we can play at a high level. I had an issue with my right hand shaking when I was under pressure while playing in tournaments and important league matches. It never seemed to happen while I practiced or was just shooting for the enjoyment of playing. Finally I went to a neurologist and he diagnosed it as basic early tremors and prescribed Propanolol which is a beta blocker. The first time I played in a tournament while taking the medicine it was like I played 20 years ago. No nerves, no shaking right hand. Honestly it was good news even though long term it's not but at least it was not Parkinson's. If your ever down here in Chicago let me know so I can stop in and say hello. Take Care of your health everything else is number 2!

Hardly no risk at all.............

From about 5 weeks ago:

I saw the doc in Eau Claire and there is no driving restriction as of Thursday.

I've never had a violent seizure except at night. The pills have cut that down drastically if not eliminated them.

i can exercise now because my body is not continually getting beat up at night. This is so good.

Drove 5 hours to a tourny and played for 12 hours off and on and still felt good at the end.

The 4 hour drive back was another story. I really got tired during the drive home but still shoveled the driveway and sidewalk with about 3 inches of snow.

Can't wait to get the body built back up full.

I don't know how long this was happening but it got real bad the last 8 months after the car accident.

These pills are almost magic.
