I was living in Southern California when I met my wife in 1983. I think we went to Newport Beach on our 2nd date (kind of a ritzy beach area south of were we lived). On the way back I knew of a chinese restaurant that had a killer shrimp dish but not in the best of neighborhoods (8th & Normandy in LA). She was up for it. After dinner and since we were kind of close, I asked if she wanted to stop by a pool room to see a friend, Arnie Satin, who owned Hollywood Billiards at Hollywood & Western (another not great neighborhood to say the least). She was up for that, too! So we walk past some not so desirable folks hanging in the street and go down the stairs to the pool room, and the only thing we could see is Arnie's belly behind the counter. It was really quite the date.
I still love my wife of 28 years...and she is still quite the date.
The only rule while living in areas that allowed smoking, is I take my clothes off as I walked in the house and put them in the washer. Now that there is no smoking, that is not a problem.
