When is the big payday?
The bonus ball playoffs?
They were set to payout 120k to 1st place.

I'm anxiously awaiting this, it could make PRO POOL explode.
Anyone of the participants got any info on it?

Johnny, Charlie, Freezer, DAZ, etc.

Just sucks that this being the game of the future and how much the PROS love it they never keep the audience informed on anything.

F.Y.I. I just got my set of bonus balls for x Mas, the game is awesome with the right colored balls.

I was a big supporter until the scoreboard was disabled forever it seems. What the hell Nathan??? I'm calling BS, bro.

According to the World Professional Billiard League -play will resume for the playoffs February 5, 2014 and run through the 15th. However, awaiting confirmation of all players being available during that time before public announcement is made.

Santa nor the good fairy won't be coming to Bonus Ball Land this year or any other year. I feel sorry for a few of the players that followed the Pied Piper blindly. Johnnyt

Do you guys think it would have had a chance if the overall format was about the same, but they played 8 ball or 9 ball?

YES, especially if they play 8 ball. I understood all along what they were saying about not targeting the AZ Billiards forum (very experienced players) as their audience. It could draw attention to the real skills and pros of the game by first making it exciting and fun to watch for the people that play pool in their home game rooms, on vacation, etc. Pool needs to find a way to give an audience someone to cheer for before it will make it big on tv. Let the players be themselves (censoring the language, of course) and put some life & drama into the matches.

Bingo ! More people in this country play 8 ball than anything else. The way to bring the game into the homes of people who don't play alot is to play something they are familar with. Anyone that goes into a pool hall or bar knows a little about 8 ball at least.

You're a funny guy Brent. Hey, if a couple pros no show, maybe you can get in? ;) :p

Yes. Play 8-ball Scotch Doubles. It preserves the "team" concept (important IMHO) and features a game that everyone either knows or can learn very quickly. Maybe make it more difficult than the amateur game by adding a Last 8 rule or bank the 8, or such.

Is BB still being streamed? if not did people get their money back that bought a year pass?

I listened to an interview regarding tv and professional events...and the reality is the focus and target should be placed on attracting an audience that does not play pool.

This is true. The kind of audience pool needs to attract to television are those who are not familiar with any of the games, including 8-ball. So why not a totally new game? Bonus Ball is as good a choice as any for that purpose.

I have to disagree that a new game is as good as any. I knew what 8 ball was before I even first held a cue and I think that most of america at least is the same. It would have been good to show folks how to properly play the game at a high level. Instead, we were delivered a game that barely even current fans could embrace.

I know this sounds harsh, hell it is harsh, but bonus ball is a waste of time and capital. Jmo, but I am a serious pool fan and even I can't even begin to get into bonus ball.

I understand. It took me a very long time to fully appreciate the game of One-Pocket. For years, I thought it was the dumbest game ever invented, and this was while I was still playing it on occasion. But finally, the challenges of the game overtook me, and now I think it's the greatest pool game ever invented.

Bonus Ball is much like One-Pocket, in that respect. It's not the easiest game to warm up to, but serious players who play it for a while, generally start to appreciate the nuances of the game.

And as far as 8-Ball goes, yes, most people with the slightest urge to get on a pool table for the first time have probably seen that game played. But learning to play it the proper way, and by the correct set of rules, can be almost as tough to learn as any other pool game. So, just because a total new-comer can say, "Hey, I've seen that game played before!" doesn't really give it a huge head start over any other pool games that might be introduced to them.
