She said I need to get rid of some...

Don't listen to these guys. Most are probably single or just showing a set because their wives don't see their bold posts. LOL.

Or.....some of us have a bunch of cues, safe full of guns, pocket full of gambling money, pool table in the living room and a set of nuts. My wife may not see the need for any of my acquisitions but she would not "tell" me to get rid of anything. Maybe I am just lucky but I believe we make our own luck, and circumstances.

I think the people who posted about standing his ground believe a relationship based on respect not one party telling the other what they should have or do. I understand give and take but the whole "asking permission" thing and "what will she let me do" shows a need to man up just a little.

as always, IMO.

Oh and for all the people advocating lying to her and hiding them and whatnot..... lol.

Agreed 100%. If you have to lie to her about it, there's a lot more wrong than a hoard of pool cues. If that wasn't sarcasm, it was most certainly poor advice.

K Town, that about says it all.

My wife has her money, and I have mine. No one says anything to each other as long as the mortgage and bills get paid first. I laugh at her and give her a bit of a hard time about her shoe fetish but thats about it. Imelda Marcos had nothing on her.

I have approx 20 cues, I believe that I lost count some time ago, and cases to store them.

She didn't give me a hard time about buying 3 lathes, tools and a half ton of wood.

Marriage is a lot about compromise, period. But compromising by not indulging in a hobby is not cool. Both people need a hobby or interest that they can do together as well as outside interests.

Neither has a right to really interfere in either of the others. Its production cues the guy is talking about, not customs for thousands of dollars.

Hey Hog,
Did you ever make your own cue out of that wood with all those lathes? If you did, maybeyyou could post a photo. I would love to see it.

I feel ya...!

So I made the mistake of saying how many cues I actually have...and now I must part with some before I can buy another...

What goes? What stays? How many sets do I need?

Plus she said; I can't get rid of any cues that were given to me as gifts (eg: the one she gave me for my birthday last year)...

What does a guy part with?

-Mark

Just for the sake of helping you promote a happy and loving home, I'll take whichever one(s) you want to donate. HAHAHA!

I appreciate your response; she treats me right... but I'm guilty. I do have the tendency of getting attached to a hobby and turning it to 11. I was this way with car audio and another career choice in a prior life.

To everyone else; thanks for the advice...as I have said before; I believe she is right and I do have to reduce the stock. I only have production cues; never had the patience for customs (6 months+ waiting time, I just can't do it). I'd like to think I'm a young guy; 26 and I'd like to have my own pool room/man cave in the near future. Thanks for putting things into perspective for me.

So look for some of my stuff in the WTB/FS forum soon.

-Mark

i did a search in the wanted tobuy/for sale section
so far the most recent threads started by you have been WTB(want to buy)
no FOR SALE...........:D

How does that saying go?

Happy wife Happy Life. ----

Grow some balls and tell her to go F@$* herself.

Wow. So obviously your not married or in a relationship. I think I would have to have some serious words with you if you said that to me. Have some class and try not to be a jerk.

Personally I'm happily married, but I'd have to agree with Jason on this one. If your sig other is acting this way it's already time for words anyways. Relationships are about mutual respect... My wife would never say such things, and neither would I.

Sorry Mark

I really hate to be the bearer of bad news here Mark, but your New McDermott that we custom ordered for you is getting shipped out tomorrow

Lol, sorry Mark...

Unfortunately not. I guess making cues must be on the bucket list as I ice fish all winter and now that my wife made me buy a fishing boat, my summer is taken up a bit as well.

I haven't really been actively seeking out repair work this year as much as in past league seasons either.

Funny that you would mention it tho. Just this evening I was looking at Jazzenppols site and drooling over all the beautiful cues he has.

After looking at all those nice cues, I was thinking, darn, I gotta start. Ok, I have made some one piece butts out of 30" hard maple which are ok but nothing that anyone else couldn't make or anything that I would brag about.

We went threw this early in our marriage. We wanted a house. I didn't have to sell anything but I cut back.
in 74 my weekly spending money was $150 a week. I worked for Allis Chalmers. Mostly 7 days a week on 3rd shift.
Gambling, hanging with the wild bunch and pi$$ing away money on recreational stuff,
and playing pool. I cut back to $5 a week and had money left over. 6 months later we had enough for a down payment for a house.
Happy wife, happy life. Don't even think I'm P.W. I'm my own man and she is a free woman. I don't own her and she doesn't own me.
Been together 39 years not counting the year and a half we played house.

Decent advise guys...

But maybe I forgot to mention; we are looking to buy a house this year, she's trying to get me to control my spending...

She's right; time to thin the herd...

Post some pictures and we can help you decide.

Don't buy no more....

Or you pool table will end up looking like this------------>

Crazy addiction....

That is a bunch of Meucci cues!

It's sad when they are only the Meucci Cues I have. I can fill the whole table up with Joss, Dale Perrys, McDermotts, and cues from the Phillipines.

Stop Buying Cues---

Stop buying cues before it is too late!

It's depressing and hopeless. I have cues in every bedroom, closet, living room, basement, and hallway.

They are everywhere except the kitchen and bathroom.
