With all due respect CJ Wiley

I suppose tomorrow we'll have a "say something nice about CJ" thread (the online equivalent of hanging a steak around a kids neck so the dog will at least play with him) , and by Sunday we'll all move back to the important matter of whether deflection is about the cue or the cue ball. I thought this forum was a nice find when I discovered it a few months back but the drama is getting a little tedious.

And yes...if "all due respect" had anything to do with this it would have been left unsaid or done privately.

This would have been the best approach.

The best approach is one in which we don't criticize publicly.
That is ALWAYS the most professional way.

It works both ways though. ALL of us need to follow the forum rules so as to ensure a fair and efficient website.

WEDGE,

TRUST ME, u don't want the coyote running amok on the buy/sell forum, your wares won't get a sniff

besides, some of his droppings are right sporty

If you read the thread the point is CJ is selling on the Main Forum. He is bypassing the For Sale section which has 48 hour bump rules which we all have to follow.

Just report CJ's post if you feel it violates the rules. The mods will see the report and make a call as to what they want to do. Many complain but few report posts that are offensive, rule violations etc.

Is it difficult to scroll past threads you don't want to read? I scroll past them all the time, sometimes I let the mouse hover for a second so I can read a little preview of the first post.

If you guys really want to police the forums properly then volunteer privately to Mike and Jerry to be mods. If you become a mod then do your job fairly and swiftly. So far Mike hasn't seen many people that he would trust with the moderator job. Convince him and you're in.

Just don't delete my marketing threads please :-)

Well, sir...you don't have to wait until tomorrow.
..and Wedge, my fellow Lockster, I can fade the infomercials.

If all the pros had CJ's drive, enthusiasm, and wit, the game would be
in much better shape.
He does manage to spread some good stories along with said infomercials.
And he managed to keep his cool with SJD and gave as good as he got....
...well, almost...I hope he and Dick go at it again...I enjoyed it.

And this is coming from a guy who disagrees with CJ at least 30% of the time.

I say CJ pays his rent here

100% agreed. I WISH we had more pros who would come here and sell their stuff the way CJ does.....with great stories and photos and reflections about what it takes to be a pro player.

I am spending time right now with guys like Joey Gray and James Walden and BELIEVE me they have a lot of insight that the common player simply doesn't have. If you ever get to spend time watching guys like this handle their cue ball intimately playing against you then you will understand how deep their knowledge goes.

Sometimes it's worth it to put up with a little bit of annoyance at a person's mannerisms IF they have something truly valuable to give you.

He puts his TOI videos at the bottom of his posts. And people list all the equipment they have. Same difference. I see a lot of "we want new shows, and "we want new pool material." And as soon as Wiley comes out with one for everybody, "He's hocking his video too much". What has he really tried to sell besides that. He's honestly answered a slew of questions, and replied to a lot of posts. Wouldn't it be fair to cut the guy some slack.

"With all due respect" is almost as disrespectful and patronizing as it gets. Just a notch up from "nothing personal". Which of course always is, and usually deeply.

With all due respect, I have none whatsoever for this thread.

Was more than that due?

JC

The guy is just trying to make a buck in a tough business.
Personally I am now treating his posts like TV infomercials, I just skip them.

He claims its all just for the good of pool in a effort to get pool back on TV
Now I'm no producer but I did sleep at a holiday inn once
If your trying to get pool on TV the place to start is TV with his infomercials there
Running his adds here in a market that already exists of pool players and fans achieves very little IMHO
The market to be hitting is the people who are not aware of the pool world or view it negatively ,, He may think that the million dollar challange would inspire that crowd to shoot pool but really that's not much incentive when other sports stars loose that in a night at the casino

The million dollar challenge will not inspire pool it happened years ago, people only care about what's happening next unless he is planning to have another one then it's just pool history.

I argued the other day for five pages. I'm not going to argue any more. If someone is so overtaken by what CJ use to be, that they truly believe he is here only because his "passion" for pool, they are as misplaced in their faith, as CJ is in his use of quotation marks...

Just let him role wedge, you know why he's here, throw him on the block list.
