Three hour lesson with Dennis Orcollo

One thing I like about Dennis, is that with his limited vocabulary he explains everything in the simplest terms possible. He never seems to have any problem getting his point across the first time either! Once again, the participants at his first seminar last year raved about him to me afterwards. Dennis takes everything he does seriously. This is not just a lark for him to make some pocket money. He absolutely loves to help players with their game!

Yeah, at $50 a person, I don't think he's doing this for the money.

Most of your top notch players don't make top notch instructors, but that's true with every other sport out there. But that doesn't mean you can't learn from a top notch player.

I am VERY happy to hear that, Jay. That is the kind of things we need for pool. If he ever comes to Hawaii and the price is right, I will gladly pay for one of these clinics.

This would also apply to any other world-class players who happen to make it through here. I have met Rodney Morris several times and watched him play and practice when he comes here, but I have yet to ever see them set up some sort of clinic with him. Alex comes here sometimes to visit his family, but as far as I know he has never done it either. Same for Allison Fisher...I see her...talk to her...watch her play, but have never heard of her having a clinic either. Maybe they aren't interested or don't need the extra cash.

Keep up the good work, Jay. Aloha.

45 min. drive for me from Ventura, but I can not commit to it yet. I will keep watching the thread till I know my schedule. I really would like to make it.

Sure wish I could come jay but my wife and I are in the Philippines. If you can please do me a favor. Get me Dennis phone number or email address. I want to hire him to come to my pool hall in Naga near Cebu City. Tell him it is for the Bud and Maria he met in Tabanook pool hall. We have a picture of him with us. Please send a reply in private massage. Thank you so much.

$50 to spend time and learn from a Champion, how can you go wrong? Those who got in on this are lucky.

At fifty bucks you can't go wrong.

I'm just curious if either Dennis or Carlo are known to be a good instructor. Needless to say, some pros aren't and by that I mean some pros REALLY aren't.

Either way definitely worth the $50.

Your avatar is one of the best practices when starting pool. I learned it from an old timer long ago. Use my kitchen table, stroke down the edge of it or a line on it. You can learn to get a much straighter stroke.

Next time you ought to think about streaming it. I would pay say 15 -20 to watch him give lessons to somebody else. Probably could learn a lot from it !

Was worried I was stayed at the pool hall too long tonight and was late on the thread. Got email about 2nd day. Now I am a very happy camper.
Things like this can only improve my game.

Try doing this in and out through the mouth of a soft drink bottle, until you can go to the bottom and back rapidly without touching anything! That's how you develop a straight stroke! Ask Ming to show you.

it's only $50 because the lessons will be in Filipino and there will be no translators. (kidding) :D

I'd love to get a lesson from Dennis and at $50 that's too good to be true. Unfortunately I'm on the East Coast and it's just not feasible to travel that far. Best of luck to the lucky players who get to go.

Any spots left? :frown:

If there is a spot still available, I know I need it.

Jay, with all of the stuff you are learning from Dennis, I probably need a couple of balls playing one pocket, but I will take just one ball from you.
