how are ya'll doing in league ?

Nothing against my state, but Iowa APA is not very strong as a whole....STILL it is sometimes really tough to fade matches as a 7 spotting the world to players playing 1-2 levels below what they really are.

If they're sandbagging that hard, then it's time to star marking down more defensive shots.

It doesn't really bother me that much. It makes the victory that much sweeter. There was one time where a soso 6 tried to cheat me. He did a practice stroke and tapped the cue ball. I pay attention in my matches and it was obvious. He then tried to shoot after the foul to which I had to stop him to ask if he touched the cue ball. He gave me a gnarly look and said yes and acted disgusted like I did something wrong to which I made an executive decision to beat the piss out of him 5-0. Thanks for the motivation to play hard buddy!

Won yesterday 5-1 vs a 6 in 12 innings, 4 total safeties played...bumps it to 81.5% so I think they round up to 82% on the website TBD :D

pretty good shooting.

as for me i am just an average 5 that plays pretty good sometimes but has a tendency to play down to my opponent more often than not.

lifetime stats.

8 ball life time matches 345

life time wins 173

life time win % 50 %

def shot avg 1.40

9 ball life time matches 215

life time wins 116

life time win % 54%

def shot avg 0.68

total matches 560

total wins 289

win % 52%

you can see a big difference in my % of def shots between 8 and 9 ball. don't know why. i play more def in 8 ball but have a higher win % in 9 ball.

also the def shot avg in 8 ball is some what skewed. i never started playing defense until last year but the avg is spread out over my lifetime. i played 7 safe in my last match that i wound up losing lol.

i have had some bad sessions where my win % is only around 38% and some good sessions where it is around 64% so lifetime is around 50%.

just for funsies i looked up stats for each session. 2 that stand out to me are these.

summer 2011 my 1st session in apa .

9 ball 13 matches

won 10

win% 77% funny thing is i never played 9 ball in my life until i joined this team.

summer 2012

8 ball as a 6

matches played 37

matches won 27

win % 59 %

8 on break 3

break and run 2

mini slam 1

rackless 4

went down to a 5 by the end of fall session.:( been there ever since. hard to believe i have reached 560 matches in 3 years. i was playing on 3 teams but i dropped one 2 sessions ago.

This is very common. They are two completely different types of games that require different stratagies. I guarantee I play more defense than offense in 8 ball vs 9 ball. Of course 9 ball is also more of a points game so I can see more aggessive naturally. We need to get your 8 ball win/loss % up! I sometimes play down as well to my opponent which is not a good habit to have.

Last session of APA 8 ball was my first time back since 1996. The league operator screwed us and I swore to never play in APA again. Three players asked me to start a team, so I gave in. I did well went from a 4 to a 6 in 5 weeks and only lost 2 matches. Finished 1st in Top Gun S/L 6&7's.

For the last year I have been running my own small league out of the local ELK's lodge. Kinda a home spun BCA league we have about 32 players and keep 4 teams and sometimes have 5. It is good fun with 90% of all money collected returned to the players.

Man, you guys and your 80%'s.

I won my masters match.. think I played somebody that's normally a 6/6 or something. Decided that I'm going to start with 8b if I can, because the win is my goal now. In the next few months, I'll try working on 9b a bit more in practice.

Only won 3 games at BCA last night, but still pulled a 43, so not too shabby. The two losses were nice runouts, which I can't complain about. Afterwards, played a decent player some 8b, lost $50 5-4, won $40 5-2, won $100(80 mine) 7-6. Those were some nice matches to warm up for our regional in March. Gave the g/f the $100 bill this morning since I've been out a lot this week playing(and she can use the $$), so I guess I'm down $30. :o I was a little hesitant to play for that much when I don't have much more to spare, but you can't win if you don't play.

Nope, gotta play! That's one thing that dogged me for my first few years while broke, people I could beat always wanted to gamble, but I had no money. I'm trying to get more gambling going on, or at least smart gambling. Last night the guy I played, I've played in APA a few times over the years, winning all of the matches, iirc. He's gotten a lot better. I messed up some games that led to that first lost after playing some good defense. The last match came down to the very end. I hung my last ball, he got good shape on his last, tried to get down to the other side for the 8 and he scratched! Man, it was a bit nerve-racking.

One of my good friends is from Memphis. He's the captain of my Tuesday night team. Needless to say, he can BBQ. I'll spot you just enough to give you the impression that you'll win. According to last night, I may still screw it up, though.

Played in my local league last night. Played my best singles game in a while, probably all session. Made two table length banks with the bridge on a 8' coin op. First shot, brought the ball down to the corner on my right side. Called a safety me next shot. Opponent misses, setting me up for another long bank. Make in on my left side. Look at the 8 along the rail, with the cue ball setting up a straight shot. But wait, the 6 is just beyond the side pocket, preventing a long straight. Call the side, carom the 8 off the 6 and into the side pocket.

Lost my doubles. Nothing I could do. My partner wasn't very good, and one of the opposing shooters was a very good shot maker.

Wow, that's pretty good. I was just looking at the site. Looks kinda cool with the stats. Had the volume off, so I couldn't quite hear what a few stood for, but I think I got the gist of it. How long have you been playing in that?

Yep, Hood River is only about an hour from me, right up I-84.. maybe even a little under that. If you ever forget a birthday or something, hit me up and I'll drop off a box of something like a ninja!

impressive. :grin-square:

the apa does not have stats for that ... i don't think.

looked up my napa stats.

ranked 14th locally.

ranked nationally 8 ball 5780

ranked nationally 9 ball 4598

break and runs 4147

snaps on break 2896

rackless 9116

win % 4552

shutouts 5894

best 8 ball win streak 6 matches

worst 8 ball losing streak 4 matches

best 9 ball win streak 3 matches

worst 9 ball losing streak 4 matches

there are a whole shit load of other stats you can look up also. i mean everything under the sun you can think of they have a stat for.

i was playing league 5 days a week but it was just too much. i dropped 1 apa team and a bcapl format money league. i currently play on 2 apa teams and 1 napa team.

i was just asked to join another napa team and i think i will. hopefully i can get my national stats up a lil higher.:grin-square:

i played in the napa nationals "singles division" this past year and finished 1 round out of the money. i gotta say it was the toughest and best run tournament i have ever played in. already qualified for this year in atlanta and hope i am able to go.

Since I am an open player and you are definitely short stop material I'll take 2 on the wire to 5 rack your own barbox 8 ball $250 per set post minimum 4 sets here at Big Dogs on the Diamonds...interested? Please advise as operators are standing by... :D

They are organizing a UPA league in my area and had a meeting scheduled last night actually. I wasn't able to go. Theyre hoping to lure APA players to it by reducing fees and such at first and promising larger cash payouts for teams. I just don't see enough there to lure me away at this point but I guess some of our division teams are seriously contemplating switching.
