No but seriously, I feel for daz. I was pulling for him.
The booth guys were super critical of the fact that he mumbled to himself
nonstop after every error. But that's exactly what makes me want to see him win.
He's human like the rest of us and he cares a lot about the outcome.

Sure he cries about the rolls and blames bad luck.
But as perfect and careful as he shoots, that's often correct.
At hill-hill he played a pretty decent safe and it happened to wire a ball
straight into the hole with automatic shape if dennis just makes a good hit.

Not that it's ALL luck, Dennis broke dry approximately 10 times in a row,
and darren still couldn't close out needing 1 rack to dennis' 5.

People on AZ claim they want to see players show some emotion but there
were lots of comments about his negativity, and praise for Dennis' calm.
It's pretty much all the booth guys talked about for the first 50 racks.
Then they spent 10 racks nakedly rooting for dennis
like they had bet the mortgage on him.

"COME ON BABY BOUNCE! NOOOOO!"

I enjoyed the match and I don't expect them to be neutral and boring,
but they could come up with the occasional bit of praise about darren
other than "ah jeez he hit that ball good".

Dennis broke dry. Darren played a bad safe on a 1, leaving a bank 1-4? combo. Dennis made it and ran out.

What happened in the last game?

Dennis broke dry (as usual), Darren played a safe on the 1 trying to put the cue ball frozen to the 2 and the 1 on the end rail, but he left just enough of a gap between the cue ball and the 2 for Dennis to kick one rail and pocket the 1-4 combination, which ended up pretty much dead on the end rail. Dennis ran out from there, and that's when Darren stuck his cuestick through his eyeball (as the picture attests).

Yikes... that's a tough way to get beat and looks like he's taking it pretty hard. I'm sure he'll bounce back though.

Commentators were very unprofessional, had to turn sound off.

No more so then DAZ him self. He knows he's mic'd up. He should not be mumbling those things, especially after all the mosconi shit they always complain about EARL for.

DAZ is strictly a tourney player (races to 9-11-13), and a great one. God bless his heart.

But If there's .50 cents on the line and the race is past 15 he gets the High Speed Wobbles. And this should be easier then a tourney. Nothings on the line.

I'd green you, buddy, but I gots to pass some around first.

I'll tell you, Jay may have lost some respect for Darren (can't see for what, really), but I sure lost a lot of respect for Jay. He never stopped hammering away about Daz muttering. Of course, Cotton had to join in with him, but he has poor social filters anyway. Between the two of them I almost turned off the match and went to bed.

My wife and I both were very put off by the non-stop comments. We like Darren a real lot and Dennis, well, not so much. Despite that fact, we both just want to see great pool and don't really pull for a particular player. $40 is a lot of dough to us right now, and to sit through two nights of poor play and technical problems was tough to swallow. Then we finally have a great match and all the commentators are talking about is what a poor sport one of them is. Funny how Jay didn't tell us the story about how his buddy refused to keep his mind of his 14.1 final match last year at DCC and how he eventually conceded the match just to watch his friend play in another one. Now that was poor sportsmanship, way worse than a very intense champion player mumbling to himself about what he was doing wrong.

Nothing on the line. Right.

Match ended about half hour ago. Daz just left after getting back on the table and shooting all the shots that gave trouble. Guys do that all the time when it doesn't matter right?

I get you are a self styled gambler. The fact you continually demean TAR matches by saying they don't mean anything is simply bullshit. It may not mean anything to you that two players are not playing on someone else's money and calling it gambling but these matches mean something to the people who produce and play in them.

Instead constantly running down these matches why don't you just go woof up a game the other too cool for school high roller pool gamblers.

I really feel for Darren. Throughout last night and tonight there were times when he played safe and felt he would get another chance at the table and the rolls did not go his way. I loved hearing Darren get after himself and feeling like nothing was going his way. It really puts the human element into the game. If I wanted to see robots runout then I am sure someone could build a machine that could do that. I want to see players PLAY. I want to see the way they react when things are not going their way. I also want to see the excitement on their faces when things do go their way.

You are way off.

DAZ was muttering how lucky "these" people were/are. And why does "Everything Bad" happen to him and not them. He gets no rolls. They get all the rolls. In the meantime he didn't close out the match when Dennis dry broke like 10 in a row. Noones fault but his own.

He was not muttering god I shot that bad, or Am I crazy for shooting at that and not playing safe. He was muttering his words towards the "others" (As in players). He never once blamed himself that I recall.

For that they did start being a little more biased, no one wants to hear that from a player. Especially a player that always talks about cleaning up the game.

Jay nor Cotton were out of line. If anyone was out of line it was DAZ, knowing he's mic'd up.

The guy just played his heart out for everyone to see and hear and all you can do is criticize him in every possible way. This match obviously means a lot to him and to Dennis and everyone else who paid to watch it.

I'm sure he'll regret some of the things he muttered to HIMSELF, but it's not even comparable to players who say horrible things directly to their opponent or the fans.

I couldn't disagree more. They mic up the players so that we can hear all of these things. I am sure during the match that having mic on them is an afterthought. I don't want to listen to commentators get down on a player because he is showing some true emotion. DAZ was trying to work through things in his own way. The guy was playing his heart out and you get down on him for the things he was saying mostly to himself.

US Mosconi Cup====> and DAZ....Similar Behavior???

Commentators were very unprofessional, had to turn sound off.

Yes, Cotton was outwardly showing who he was pulling for, but Jay stayed as neutral as possible (he is close with DO). But, as commentators, they have to comment on someone basically losing their head. They could not simply ignore it. And certainly couldn't condone it. Of course, DAZ got under their skin with all the mumbling while DO was down on his shots. Isn't that what all of us fans have been railing about our MC team acting un-professional?

This matchup appeared to me to be handpicked! DAZ doesn't handle the stress in these long sets. He had this behavior before he ever made the pro transition to US pocket billiards. Six hours is too long for him to stay quiet. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want a microphone attached to me for 6 hours either (prob be worse). He's a nice guy, but in casual conversations he can't stay quiet very long. Heck, he will basically scream to get everyone quiet so that he can get the center stage.

I'm kinda confused...DAZ--says he outplayed DOr...and couldn't get any rolls, claimed he was sharked by a guy in the stands. But, what I saw was DAZ sharking (mumbling while DOr was down on shots). He seemed to always make 2, 3 or 4 balls on the rack with the 1 ball clear, while DOr couldn't buy a ball on the break (good enough rolls for a King). If DAZ was out-shooting DOr, he should have won that match by 10 games...minimum.

Jumping joe saying I can't play for money is stupid .. Yeah I lost a few games on tar .. But I won a hell of alot more than I've lost.. And won big money in the Philippines against top players which nobody else as achieved . Except yang. And play 50 k sets in last and won all of them but one.

Tar matches are not money matches they are challenge matches with prize money on the line .. Basically like playing a final of a tournament so obviously want to win big time ..

Tonight I opologize for my muttering and other nights just sometimes it's a frustrating games and I mutter alot anyway .. But to myself my opponent can't hear me .. I never shark any opponent ..

And I feel I got the rough end of the rolls for majority of the match that's the way I see the match. IMO

But at the end I only myself to blame which I said in my interview to Justin I dogged it simple as that .. Don't know why because usually when am on the hill I only need one chance either money game challenge game or big tournaments Etc.. But that's life shit happens where all human . We all dogged it sometimes I seem them all do it before. And we will do it again.

Obviously right now am sick to lose but that's life I will come back stronger and not make same mistake next time .

If I offended anyone with my muttering then I opologize .

Darren
