What happened in the last game?
Commentators were very unprofessional, had to turn sound off.
No but seriously, I feel for daz. I was pulling for him.
The booth guys were super critical of the fact that he mumbled to himself
nonstop after every error. But that's exactly what makes me want to see him win.
He's human like the rest of us and he cares a lot about the outcome.
Sure he cries about the rolls and blames bad luck.
But as perfect and careful as he shoots, that's often correct.
At hill-hill he played a pretty decent safe and it happened to wire a ball
straight into the hole with automatic shape if dennis just makes a good hit.
Not that it's ALL luck, Dennis broke dry approximately 10 times in a row,
and darren still couldn't close out needing 1 rack to dennis' 5.
People on AZ claim they want to see players show some emotion but there
were lots of comments about his negativity, and praise for Dennis' calm.
It's pretty much all the booth guys talked about for the first 50 racks.
Then they spent 10 racks nakedly rooting for dennis
like they had bet the mortgage on him.
"COME ON BABY BOUNCE! NOOOOO!"
I enjoyed the match and I don't expect them to be neutral and boring,
but they could come up with the occasional bit of praise about darren
other than "ah jeez he hit that ball good".
No more so then DAZ him self. He knows he's mic'd up. He should not be mumbling those things, especially after all the mosconi shit they always complain about EARL for.
DAZ is strictly a tourney player (races to 9-11-13), and a great one. God bless his heart.
But If there's .50 cents on the line and the race is past 15 he gets the High Speed Wobbles. And this should be easier then a tourney. Nothings on the line.
I'd green you, buddy, but I gots to pass some around first.
I'll tell you, Jay may have lost some respect for Darren (can't see for what, really), but I sure lost a lot of respect for Jay. He never stopped hammering away about Daz muttering. Of course, Cotton had to join in with him, but he has poor social filters anyway. Between the two of them I almost turned off the match and went to bed.
My wife and I both were very put off by the non-stop comments. We like Darren a real lot and Dennis, well, not so much. Despite that fact, we both just want to see great pool and don't really pull for a particular player. $40 is a lot of dough to us right now, and to sit through two nights of poor play and technical problems was tough to swallow. Then we finally have a great match and all the commentators are talking about is what a poor sport one of them is. Funny how Jay didn't tell us the story about how his buddy refused to keep his mind of his 14.1 final match last year at DCC and how he eventually conceded the match just to watch his friend play in another one. Now that was poor sportsmanship, way worse than a very intense champion player mumbling to himself about what he was doing wrong.
Jay nor Cotton were out of line. If anyone was out of line it was DAZ, knowing he's mic'd up.
