Just went to the site and tonight is not yet up (at least for me). Mr Bond... When are you going to get it up? :D

I need to switch computers. The second time I went "in" I got a compatibilty warning. 1st time I had all prior shows available (the black scroll bar thingie) along with a description of today's show but which had no black scroll bar. Fuggin computers!

Gonna steal Pinky's puter.

Edit to add... I just fired up Pinky's Commodore 64. Dang if it doesn't work. :) Looking forward to it. I guess my modified Pong game video computer needs more ramming. Thanks 007!

ABR Summary from Matt

I just finished listening to the 93 minute podcast. What an informative packed podcast! Here's my summary in event you hadn't listened to it (but you might oughtta listen to it and read between the lines - many were they).

There were 5 segments. The hilights that struck ME IMO and recollection, else I'll write a book:

1) Mr Bond made great points as to how fans need to be more exposed to pro personalities to better make a "connection" and know more @ who to root for and who they'll spend time to root against.

2) Mike Howerton and Larry Chiborak. Some good info. My short analysis. Larry is gung ho with BB and spoke of season 2, which didn't appear to me to be definitive just yet. He said all players are returning for the playoffs starting Feb 5 and it will be a PPV. Never spoke deep to a biz model to cover his "few million".

Some key topics were sidestepped IMO. I felt Larry had an opportunity to say "we changed our biz model that was originally 26 weeks straight that stepped on people's toes, I now realize that was a mistake and I apologize. But now it's condensed and we will work better with the entire industry" He spoke of leagues and a different version of BB for the amatures.

3) Red Shoe Billiards owner just outside of Chicago spoke @ ... (I made a sub sandwich, missed most of it :embarrassed2:).

4) bflad (Mark Cantrill) and Johnny. JA gave Mark Wilson a big . JA said only Shane is a lock. "Whether I'm there or not, I'm there in heart. It needs change. Great thing they will have time to prepare. Many good ideas have been posted on AZ, and we need young blood..."

bflad: "What's the future of pool, how do we build it up?"
JA: "needs an overhaul, old look isnt working. Last few years I got politically involved and it took a few yrs off my life. Difficult to watch, tourneys gone, more fighting for less $. There's blame for everybody in the industry." "Bottom line, what we really need is a new crop of players, promoters, sponsors, etc. pool halls are closing up at a rate of 3 to 1".

5) Jerry T and Tony Robles. Tony: "COM literally took pool to the stone ages. Everyone asks me every lesson over years 'are u a hustler?'"
JT asked @ Positivity in pool. TR: "it's no longer a hustler sport... doesn't get the respect it deserves. So many people out there that are so greedy, a continuing problem. As long as each other are going at each others neck, we won't even get to 1st base, as my father said. Grow the sport? Way more amatures, grow from ground up, internet." Tony was very impressive.

---------------

ABR knocked this one out of the park. A damn good listen you can do at your own leisure with pause and play.

Thanks for the feedback Mark...
Yeah it IS weird...very weird, because it doesn't happen to everyone, or every iPhone. If it only happened with certain phones or browsers then we could narrow down the problem, but it seems to be a random occurrence. Whatever the case, we are looking into it and if something can be done to prevent it, we will certainly do it.

Wow Matt. Your English teacher would be proud :D

Thanks for listening!

cast not working

Yes,

Exact same thing happens to me! Plays for about 1-3 minutes, and then restarts from the beginning.

However:

a) the timer continues to work properly (i.e. the stream timer does not reset to zero), and
b) this does not happen with every cast. I can play the show from 2 or 3 weeks ago without issue.

I am using Safari browser on an iPhone 4.

Was just doing some research on this problem...and it seems that apples don't like podcasts very much...lol...lots of complaints on the interwebs about it...

Is it still happening now?

If so, try restarting your device and that should, in theory, fix it.

at 41 sec. into it, it stops every time. Then a message come up saying "unable to access audio stream". Last night I got it to play up until they started talking about BB. Then it quit. Now, won't go past 41 seconds.

Using google chrome on a HP computer.

Neil...I'm using Chrome on a Dell laptop. I just listened to it, and it played all the way through for me. You missed a good one with Larry about BB. He said that the pros play BB because "they LIKE it...not because they're getting paid"! LOL Yeah, sure they are!

Neil I'm sorry you are having an issue with listening...that's a real bummer. It's really bizarre why one person's computer can play it fine, while someone else with an identical computer can't get it to play thru....very bizarro...

For you and the others having that playback issue, you CAN get around it by simply downloading the whole show first, via iTunes, or from the RSS feed page.

Finally got to listen to it all. For those in the future with similar problems, try erasing all your cookies and past history. Worked for me.

from Tony Robles thread - i'm moving this to here:

ok, all this chatter has forced me to catch-up @ THU night's events. (cause someone didn't give me a wakeup call) i'm 20 minutes in.

and might i say, Mr. Bond - you hit it on the head!

i am now halfway through the Larry Chiborak interview - and i had to stop to puke! i can't believe that Mike Howerton is interviewing Bonus Ball - after they didn't get paid for HOW LONG????

Bonus ball

thank you, Mr. Bond & Mike, for the Larry Chiborak/Bonus Ball interview. i have now finally (7 months later) heard it from the horse's mouth - he's full of #$@%.

i can NOT believe this interview. yáll have GOT to listen to it!

www.americanbilliardradio.com - start @ 10mins+/-

PS - if i had a FEW million, (we're up to "a FEW", not TWO) i'm pretty sure that it'd already have been on TV & the players @ semi-retirement.
