Im getting cheated!

Sir i feel your pain! what's funny is that my game improved a lot because of exactly what you're talking about. a few years back i worked a weird schedule and i'd only get to play pool an hour a day 3-4 days a week. i'd get off at 10:30 or 11:00 and rush down to the pool hall to get in some practice. i ended up focusing more because i didn't have a whole lot of time.

Try making the most of your time!

Well if it was just time, I would do that, but being a half hour drive each way, and my gas sucking suv getting 14 mpg, its not worth the trip for an hour of pool, lol. I will do it a few times for sure though, just to scratch the itch:grin-square:. Im living part-time in Illinois and part time in Indiana, so a home table wont work in either place, and the law says all bars/pool rooms that sell beer must close by 2am, so its not all the pool rooms fault, lol.

Hey Joe, long time no see Buddy.

Look at it this way. Our only hall closed its doors a few months back. Other than a bar, the closest hall to me is a 60 minute drive by the time I pull into the parking lot.

i havent heard of an "open 24 hours" pool room in the US. are there any?

We used to have more than a few in the dc metro area. All gone now.

Actuall, I think top hat in Baltimore may be 24 hrs...?

Ad now that I think abou tit, all the 24 hr places were no booze...as is top hat. Hmmmm.

We have a place that used to be open 24/7 now its 10 am ish till 4am or 5am so thats not to bad and they serve booze as well. They have to stop serving just be fore 2am and gone by 2:30am so its not to bad

Im sick of all these pool places closing too early! I get off of work at midnight, and the closest pool room to me is a half an hour away, and closes at 2am. So in the end, its not worth the drive for an hour of pool. I think us night owls should write our congressmen and get a law passed that forces the pool rooms to give us late nighters at least two hours of pool play time! I know, I know.....so back here in reality, it is unfair that those who work daytime jobs can play for hours after work, but Johnny Law makes the beer-serving pool room shut its doors at 2, but I guess thats just the way life goes, lol. Just wanted to complain about it, feel free to reply in a smart-ass fashion, thanks!

When i was at college i was lucky enough to have my best pool buddy running the college pool room and has the keys, when the college closes, we stayed their until 2 or 3 AM, we even got some security guards to join in some action, it was really fun and quite.
When i got buried, ops i mean married all that ended; now my home table is what helps me cope with pool halls being too far, rush hours traffic, no one to play with at times, snow storms, fu!!!!!!king work hours & commute. Over past 10 years i had it, you can say the $$ savings do add up, 10 yr X 365 days X $5.00 (for practice at home maybe $20 at times)= $18,250.00 plus motivation to actually exercise (if pool walking considered exercise)
.

Seeing posts like this makes me wonder why we don't hear about more pool aficionados banding together and sharing rent on a place to put a pool table....

Especially in areas where rooms are far apart, or hours are unfavorable...

Top Hat was open till 4am but changed hours till 2 am few months ago. We used to have a bunch of 24s - VIP, Jack N Jills, Greenies, the old Green Room, Bill N Billie's, Usa Laurel - Usa Rosedale. I Could go on. All of these places were more or less a 30 min ride at the most from one another but ALL GONE NOW.

We sure have lost a lot of great rooms in the past 20 years.

:(

I understand your plight! Have you considered getting a table at your house? My game and passion for the game quadrupled when I got my very own table. I know a lot of people don't have room or other situations/situations but…If you had your own table, you can play whenever you want!

Hey there Terry. Ive been a busy guy. lol. I researched this bar for a while, and it has a reputation for being a pool bar, so I have a good pool crowd and I have been working my regular job and then going to the bar and keeping it open late. We played pool until after 4am tonight and then I played designated driver and took 3 drunk pool players home. What can I say, Im a nice guy. lol.

I dont know if you noticed my avatar, but thats my table in it. I dont know of any pool hall around that would let you rest your Predator rifle on their table. lol.

At my job I have two shifts I could work. 4:30a-2:30p or 2:00p-12-00a. Getting off in the early afternoon gives me plenty of time to shoot, but most of my buddies aren't up for shooting til at least 7:00 or 8:00 and most tournaments in this area start then or later. Or I could get to the pool hall at 1:00a and maybe shoot for an hour. I don't have a house that will hold a pool table (working on that though) so that's not an option either.

I hear you, it is rough schedule times, especially if you have wife and kids! With the job market scares probably hard to get another job that have better schedule! Best of luck.
