I don't quite understand the scheduling over top of another well established tourney.
If Nick wasn't available for that particular weekend, do it the next weekend or the next available time.
That way players wouldn't have to make a choice and they have 2 tourneys back to back.
Boner Ball was ranked for doing the same thing to promoters. I guess this is different.
This isn't quite in the players best interests and I thought that was what Str8 Shots was all about.
The only diff here between "Boner Ball" and this event is in Boner Ball, players were under contract to show up. Here they are free agents to go where ever they want. BIG difference. If there was a $5K added event in LA, Las Vegas, Denver, Chicago, Pittsburg, Phili, Raleigh, Atlanta and Orlando ... all on the same weekend I would argue this is GREAT for the players.
Pick and choose based on multiple variables. So from a players perspective the more the better... may also help those players on the edge and looking to quit playing and become a dealer or to keep the dream alive and grind it out. Might be nice to take a look and say hey I am a mid level pro. I need to pay the bills ... this week I will skip knocking heads with SVB, Dennis, etc and go try my luck over there...
Now the promoters might have a little more work to do to attract the "right players"... but a field limited to 64 players / played on a bar box in Vegas is going to have NO issue filling up... so I would think a big table event limited to 32 players in CO will have little impact on them... POVPOOL is doing one and TAR may do the other GREAT .. more for me to watch and from AZ tournament forum -- same time frame
Texas - ** The 2nd Annual Big Tyme Classic - $10,000 Added Guaranteed - March 20-23rd **
Smaller event - MD - 2014 Maryland State 9-Ball Bar Box Championship March 22-23
Not to mention -- all the local tours (non-handicapped and handicap). If there were no local tours would these events draw more players?
More choices, more opportunities.. Players are NOT under contract and can make the decision that is best for them. Going up against 32 with approximately the same payouts as going against 64 (given the usual field) might be a better choice for some and give them enough gas money to keep on keep on...
