Open tournaments?
Many great men players don't even play any tournaments. It's personal choice.
Over the years I played in many tournaments with tough fields, but I'll be the first to admit that I always looked for the easy events, too. Even the pros play as many amateur events as possible just before turning pro. The women are not obligated to play in men's events and may have less interest in "proving" which gender is "superior".
I suspect that many women like playing women's events more than men's because they don't have to put up with the BS from men. I personally prefer hanging out with women generally, for the same reason. May have something to do with my abandoning the notion of male superiority many, many years ago...
Question: Why don't more of the top women play in more of the Open tournaments? I for one would like to see the streamed games when they play male (tournament drawn) counterparts. We see their names listed and their results, but not how they played. It would be a nice change.
