So I was recently looking around at pool ball options. For various reason, I ended up with Cyclop balls. After reading several reviews, I went straight to the source. After talking with the guys at Diamond, I was convinced that Cyclop is the best bang for the buck. I was informed that Cyclop is using the same recipe that Hyatt used to use, to make the Brunswick Centennial balls. The old Centennials are the best ball set I’ve ever played, so I decided I’m in. One of the guys at Diamond even went as far as to say, this was the best ball set he had ever used, and the only thing some what negative is the cue ball plays a bit different because of a 3mm thick clear phenolic resin, (I think he said phenolic, but I honestly can’t remember now.) He said if you are playing a tournament or match, just practice with whatever cue ball you will be using and you will see very little difference.

Diamond has a pricing structure that is tough to beat:
1 set = $249+s/h
2-9 sets = $185+s/h
10+sets = $150+s/h

In the car world, bulk buys are pretty common. I’ve seen cars guys get together to get better prices on Diffs, tires, ecm’s, and just about anything else. I wasn’t originally setting out to organize a bulk buy, but after hearing diamonds prices, I thought, I might as well give it a go. I talked with a couple guys locally and only one other guy wanted to go in on a bulk buy. Naturally, I turned to the AZB community to see if I could get like 10 or so guys to go in. I WAAAAAAAAAAAY underestimated how much interest there would be. I went back to Diamond to negotiate. I was told, they wanted to cap it off at 30 buyers, 2 sets each max, this time around, and they couldn’t take PayPal.

My biggest problem at this point was pooling everyone’s money, then having to ship them all. So after a few discussions w/ Diamond, (always pleasant and ready to help, BTW) Diamond decided to honor the 10+set price, and handle each order individually. This was HUGE for getting this project done. Normally they don’t do this. They need to have all sets ordered at once to justify the price, and I completely understand why. This is something they didn’t have to do, and stepping up this way can’t be applauded enough. They welcomed, the idea, and jumped at the chance to help out us AZB’ers. I was told to gather a list of names, with email & phone numbers, then to give out a code to those participating. Each person then had/has all this week (2/10/2014-2/14/2014) to call in their order. Thus far everything has gone off without a hitch! (I even lost track of how many people got me their info, and accidently gave out a few too many codes. Diamond honored the couple extra NO PROBLEM, and even helped out some of our friends from Asia!!! Very cool!!!!)

Diamond Billiard Products from start to finish, had all the information I needed, help I wanted, and prices that were better than anywhere else! (Pretty strong if you ask me.) The folks and Diamond are passionate about what they do. They go far above and beyond to help out their customers, and the pool community as a whole! If there are only a few shining lights in the pool industry worth supporting, Diamond is most certainly one of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m still blown away by how well I was treated. I wasn’t buying $5k+ pool tables, I was buying $150 ball sets. This transaction is also the final nail in the coffin for my Gold Crown. Once money and wife permit, I will be putting a Diamond in my house!

Special thanks to Cody, and Paul, and of course everyone at Diamond Billiard Products, for EVERYTHING you guys do in the pool world!!!

Just a quick FYI. >>> I had only one other company willing to honor this same deal, and then sadly, they never got back to me.

Great post. A few years back when times where a little better, I was looking at opening a pool room. I contacted Paul at Diamond and I had an email with prices and all the details I needed within hours. It is nice to see a stand up company get the recognition they deserve.

I think so too! I mean really when you think about it, it's not that big of an order. They're not making huge money. They sold us the ball sets at the lowest possible price they could. $9900 if all 33 people buy two sets. Even if they are making $30 a set, that's only $990. A lot of time went into getting this all set up, and processed. This was more about helping out AZB'ers than helping out Diamond, IMO.

We should praise company's like this. They are far and few between in the billiard world!

I couldn't agree more with you, Justin. I called Cody at Diamond on Monday to place my order and the customer service was top notch.

My traditional set of Cyclops balls were shipped out that day and I'll be receiving them on Friday. Hats off to Diamond!!

Thanks for sharing this story. Diamond is a quality operation with great people.

Is it too late to call in my order? I didn't bother initially as I figured being up in Canada with one person having to handle the shipping - could have been a problem.

My set arrived yesterday. Cody was a pleasure to deal with and a big thanks to Jhanso for getting the ball rolling...

This was a set list of people. No swapping codes from what I understand.

If a person were to get 30 more people together, and call up Cody, he might be able to set something up. <<<COMPLETELY GUESSING AT THIS.

He made it sound like they want to see how this goes with a small group buy, and then make decisions about whether or not they would do it again.

My next group buy will be for Pro-ams... :D:eek::D:eek::D

I got on board simply because I forgot to pick up a few sets at the classic a few weeks ago. I got a set of traditional and a set of skittles. I like them and they have replaced my centennials. I drove over to the factory and spoke with Cody. He offered me a tour (already had one but still a nice gesture). I got my sets and spoke about pool and how Diamond has come up through the years. I remember delivering them when it first started up.

Thanks for starting this and doing the leg work.

I'm still a little jealous I don't live so close. Any chance they have a sweet 10' set up to smack a couple around on there?

No but I do have a 9 foot diamond pro in light oak that's just a few years old in the basement. My next purchase will be a lighting set up of some sort. Maybe one of the old pro model lights.

Thanks again Justin for coordinating this group buy. I totally agree that Diamond products and the whole staff is a just a super high class company throughout. I received my 2 sets yesterday and no complaints whatsoever!
