I want to buy a 3/8-10 tap from atlas for doing joint protectors and for fixing stripped out shafts. They have 2. What is the difference between the first one that says it is for a H0-Class fit and the second that does not say that. So basically i guess im asking what is an H0-Class fit.

It is scary how fast Google works. A search for "H0-Class fit" shows this this 2 hour old thread in the first page of results! Also in the results are a number of links regarding taps, which'll give you all you need to know.

There has no be nothing more annoying then some one telling you to go find it yourself. If you know the answer help if not or you just don"t want to share just shut up.

To the OP

The H0- Class gives a very tight fit. When I called atlas they recommended that one for shafts. Get the regular if you want to install pins and the H0 for shafts. For joint protectors I personally recommend the regular one because if you tap with the H0 it might be to tight to screw it on the pin.personally I got the regular size and use that on shafts to with no problem.

The question was "what is an H0 fit?" I tried to help by giving the OP the tools to find the answer. The Google search I suggested lists an informative page called "Everything you ever wanted to know about taps but were afraid to ask."

I guess we'll just disagree on learning styles.

Obviously he is not that kind of man to learn how to fish. I see no problem asking when you don't know something instead of guessing and ****ing it up.

Interesting that you tell someone to shut up for suggesting the very thing you obviously did. You called Atlas instead of asking here..Another words, conducted research on your own instead of getting the EASY ANSWER. Was that during the time you got banned from here? You have been the biggest to 'ask first at AZ ' rather than spend time researching on your own, and trial/error learning, then looking for free handouts, but it seems you actually called Atlas for this info? I do commend you for that, and this advice you just passed on is the first you have given here, based totally on your own efforts, not spoon fed to you by a member here.....maybe there is hope for you......
BTW, telling a major supplier of veneers to shut up may not do much for you when you need some a year or two when you actually start to build cues...;)...just saying...

Actually, there is something that is much more annoying:

Actualy the first thing i did was google it. All i got was refferences to ho scale model trains I did not think that was correct. and since I'm on my Xbox and not a regular computer I figured maybe someone here would know. I tried calling alas themselves however they where closed when I called today.

thinking I may have missed it I want bask and did a search for h0-class fit. the exact same search I tried last time, and I'm sorry to say the only two things that come up about taps are this thread and the completely unhelpful page from atlas. nothing about everything I ever wanted to know about taps. I can yell you about a happy fat chick dance, diesel trains, ho scale trains, but nothing about taps.

Actually I have a bachelor's of science in computer programming and an associated in business with a 2+2 on technology. Trust me I know how to look stuff up on Google.

But believe it or not, some things are just not as simple as that sometimes. Sometimes a person will search for an hour before giving up to come here (which I did, thinking maybe h0 had something to do with trains and I was missing something.) I went to about 40 percent of the links that where on the seven pages of info and found nothing. Therefore I came here to seek guidance. But like always (and as I have come to expect), someone always says as the first post, "use the search option" or "Google it" as if that thought hadn't crossed my mind.

Like they were going to say that, and I would say holy shit why didn't I think of that. As if I'm gong to automatically say to them thanks for the idea of searching for an answer I couldn't find when I searched for it originaly. Like this is some kind of new concept that I didn't already know about before.

I mean seriously, it is kind of anal for every post on a forum that is supposed to be about helping each other out, to start with "Google it"as the first answer to every question posted. As I stated in a previous post, I did and came up short on answers.

And after you gave me the exact search I had already searched for, I thought well maybe this person controls the internet and put the information out there for me to find after I asked, but low and behold, a second search of the exact same phrase you used turned up nothing again. So thank you so much for being so helpful by trying to teach me how to Google something, but if I wanted help googling something, I would first search Google on how to do it and if I couldn't find it then I would go on a Google forum and ask how do I Google something? But ironically I'm guessing some schmuck would probably tell me to Google it in that instance too.

Coulda just said it's a tighter fit, and saved all this. Just sayin...

Still swimming in sea...

AAAHHHHH .............. wisdom in a sea of ignorance.........finally a real answer.....

LMAO

Well, I guess that I'm the only dummy here, b/c I'm still swimming. At first the article seemed enlightening, but it says the H-limits are a sequence that starts with the size limit of the part or H1, H2, H3, etc. But this tap is H0? Before the sequence begins. Does this just mean that it is just Basic and they started their own limit? Or does it start to a negative limit (which should be an L1, L2, etc)?

If he isn't the type of man that wants to learn how to fish, then maybe he should stay away from the docks. You really are so full of information, you should start a blog with your pearls of wisdom.
