Mosconi Team Predictions for 2014

Yup, that's who it should be if we want guys who have demonstrated the ability to beat the giants f the game.

If this is your only measurement, then Hatch and Morris should both still be there.

I want guys that are going to bust their asses for the next 9 months to make sure they're ready when the time comes.

We need hungry players, with big breaks, and cool heads.

Get the break working, and most pro's can run out. Take a page from the book of SVB, and get working on their breaks now.

Mark intends to come up with a list of players and then have them play together to see who is good for the team dynamics and who is not...

That sounds like a solid plan. A thought occurred to me a while back, and it made me wish I had a way to convey it to Mark. For all I know this may be common practice or something he plans to do already, but I'll throw it out there.

In team competitions, it is not uncommon to see teams scrimmage against each other. I realize there are only two teams in the MC, and they likely won't be scrimming against each other, but it should be easy enough to arrange some scrimmages with teams of other Americans, at least for some scotch doubles matches, etc. I think the scrims could even be billed as exhibitions at larger tournaments - you already have most of the players there anyway. It would allow people to see their MC team preparing for the event, which should garner a little more support and a little larger following perhaps.

Just a thought.

Captain
Howard Vickery

Assistants
Bobby Pickle
Ronnie Wiseman

With a line-up like that, how can you not include John Schmidt? He and Danny Harriman on a doubles team would be KILLER! (I'm just not sure which one would end up killing the other one).

Great Idea!

I like this idea! A great way to get the players used to each other, and provide the audience with some interesting matches!

I love to see the props that bergman deserves. been watching him the last couple months and he is deserving. taking out biado (monster) , lets not forget he beat "dynamite" twice! I'm a huge daz fan so that there impressed me, lol

Also, Stevie Moore can beat basically everyone on the majority of people's lists except SVB. Maybe give him a shot.

Under those three criteria I think you have
SVB
Oscar
Bergman

Bartrum recently beat Bergman for a decent chunk of cash in two long ahead sets.

If Justin meets the criteria I cannot see how Bartrum does not.

I was just about to post the same thing. Bartrum's also a guy that has a proven track record when the heat is on.

My 5- SVB-Oscar-Shuffett-Shuff-Bartrum

In short races these guys have a chance....and if they lose they'll do it with class.

They want 8 solid options and will take 5 based on how they work together...
.

When USA`s 4 x 100M or 4X 400M realys teams are picked they go by ranks and the top four in the 100M dash or 400M race will be picked. Once the team is selected they then will train them in Batton Exchange process. There is enough time to develop that the so called understanding ,coordination etc required fro proper exchange of batton. You don`t include some in the team because they are bossom buddies, drink together , very good friends and can understand each other. you include them because they were placed in the top four in the trials.

Understanding /team spirit is over rated requirement when it comes to professional pool.

Yup... That's exactly why the euros kick the crap out of us these days... Talent not team effort....

You do know most of the euros hang out together pretty much constantly at the tournaments... They are friends.. they drink together and they root for each other in matches <gasp>....

You also noticed that team Europe sat together behind the players in action for each match and supported them while the US players sat with friends, wives and girlfriends and played the hey where did Hatch's GF go this time game???

The fact that the Euros run as a group should not be lost to anyone... Their weakest becomes stronger from the sum of the whole.....

The US players are all lone gun slingers... They walk into the saloon and draw and get shot dead by 5 of the Euros.. They may get one or 2 but they won't get em all......

you're typing this to Vagabond? you do know, that he had 3 ring-side seats BEHIND Team Euro - aside all of the GF/wives?
;)

but yes, you're right, Chris. and so is Vagabond.
there's a NEW POLL in town - and it's not going to be pretty....

I think Chris plays better for the cash, than he does in a tournament mode. Proven by looking at his track record.

I think he can play with the best of them for the cash though.
