Whats the best tip these days

Better question. What was the best tip in 2011? I guess that's what the OP wanted to know lol
In 2011 I was using Talisman Pro Hard tips.
In 2012 I was using Triangle tips and pressed Elkmaster tips.
In 2013 I was using pressed Elkmaster tips and Black King Medium tips.
In 2014, now, I am using Tiger Sniper tips and finally found a winner.

Kamui brown medium, until it exploded after about 3 month's use.
Now looking for something with as much spin but without the worry of failure.
Why is it so damn difficult to get a good tip? They're pretty much all shite as far as i can tell. NOBODY in the snooker or English pool world gives tips a second's thought, let alone consider paying good money for one.

The tip is probably the most important factor in how a pool cue will perform. Some pool tips are shaped after they are punched out, and I believe these, including the multi-layered varieties, are more consistent in hardness.
Whats the best car, whats the best kind of pizza, whats the best condom. Get my drift? And if you search, there are 1,768.5 threads with this exact title.

Pooldawg8 Milk Duds...period. I've played with them all over the past 30 years, and these top them all. If there is such a thing as a magic tip, this is it.

Hopefully getting one of these put on my cue today if the installer is in the shop when I get there.

Whilst I really like the hit of Ultraskins, they don't perform anywhere near as good as Kamui IMO.
But tips depend on how you like to play.
I have been using Talismans for a while now and they have a consistent hit. You do have to keep them chalked or miscues will happen often. I also have a sniper on one of my shafts and I like it too.
While I agree that some topics come up constantly, the unfortunate truth is that the search function(which has frustrated me many times) will not accept three letter words and it just so happens that two of the most common topics on this forum are three letter words....tip, cue. For instance, if you search for "Best Tip" it will automatically cut that down to "best" which is completely unhelpful. Sorta defeats the purpose of a search feature although I do know why it is set up this way. At least the person who resurrected this old thread did so and didn't decide to create another one of his own. Carry on. :thumbup:
I disagree with this and when you factor in price, there is no comparison.
A friend gave me one of pooldawg8's milkduds and I had it put on today before I went to the poolroom. I have to say I really like it a lot. Feel is nice and crisp but I don't feel like I've lost the ability to spin the ball. Seems to hold chalk and keep its surface better than the Everest I had played the last 9 months with.

I just had a black heart installed on my custom. It replaced an Elkmaster. Before the elkmaster I was playing with a Kamui soft. And before that a moori medium. Before moori I used le pro for many, many years. I think it's important to figure out how does it feel to you. Let me explain.
I own a Fury cue with an Everest tip. The marketing behind Everest claims that it "hits like a medium, shapes like a hard, controls like a soft." Now the way it feels to me, well it feels hard. I don't like the way hard feels. I prefer soft.
I like to use the hardness rating scales. You can find them on Muellers, and Pool Dawg.
I try to stay as close to the 65 rating of the elkmaster.
The Kamui soft was good. But they did not last very long (3 months), and they lose their shape. I found moori and le pro very similar in terms of feel but the mooris held their shape better and lasted longer (a lot longer).
The black heart feels soft. I like it. My hope is that it last as long as the Mooris. If they can go 5 months I would be very happy.
