Whats the best tip these days

dont go with anything but other than what you had it on it and you have been shooting with! Georechen posted the years they used what tips... figure out what year you bought it and buy that tip! Im going to bet on a Tiger Everest is what you had though! ... Talismans get real hard real fast

Tiger tip?

Yeah, I think Don at OB told me that mine is the Tiger tip.... I just got it at this last trade show

Thanks for all your replies.

Well this has a funny ending.
I wound up going to Shooters, here in Toronto, where the local pro said he had some good Moori tips.
There is a small workshop in the back, where we chatted a bit as he put the tip on.
When I left to go to the restroom , I passed by a snooker table where none other than Alex Pagulayan was playing. I watched him clear the last two reds and the colors - then he jumped in the air and screamed like he just won the 2004 world pool championships.
I knew it meant only one thing. Saturday he had won the Canadian snooker championships with a score of 6-0 in the finals. He had been flirting with a 147 all week, but just missing on the last or second last red.
Well he nailed the 147 tonight just as I walked past. How cool was that?

btw love the Moori tip.

and snooker fans say pool players can't play snooker ;) awesome experience man!

Heh, grats on catching the tail end of Alex's 147! As far as tips are concerned, I used to like Moori mediums, tried some of the Kamui's ... but these days I'm hooked on the Onyx tip. For whatever reason, I don't see a lot of hype about these tips, but personally, I think they are exceptional.

Give an Onyx a try, especially if you like a medium tip that really grabs the cue. You stated in your original post that you like a hard tip, but if you could like a medium hit, you gotta try an Onyx, imho!

All the tips I try seem to vary in hardness from tip to tip, regardless of the hardness rating. I currently have Mooris and Kamuis on my playing cues, both medium and hard. But I must admit that most of my success over the years was with LePros.

Does this appear to be an Old Moori? Bought back in 2000

Does anyone one know? Either a Tiger or an old Moori. Bought it back in 2000 and just found it again... can't remember what it is. I do know Moori's were hard to find back then.

dude, triangle. thats all i ever use. ma says they is the best. thats all i ever need. no of this pressed layer mamba jahamba, just give me a good triangle and im goot to go.

I don't know it's the best tip but for my style of play I am a fan of the Hirano Medium. I just received an Olney cue basic car cue and it has a Milk Dud on it and to be honest I am not impressed. I am going to send the cue to Bob Danielson for one of his LD shafts and I am going to send a Hirano Med tip to be installed.

Alright: I have a conventionally shaped elk master on my pechauer right now and 8 more un-treated ones sitting in a bag. I've heard some incomplete references here and in other threads as to how they can be soaked in milk or ( pressed?) or both. Could someone please give precise instructions on what you're doing to theses tips and why?

I've been using Kamui Black Super Softs for about 3 years and I just installed my first 'Kamui Brown Soft Clear'
- Yummy!

I'm striking the balls much better with this tip as opposed to the Black SS.

I think it's a matter of preference that you try out an assortment of different tips before making a final decision.

Ki tech soft

Or Ki-Tech hard. But, Lee is right on.

AZ's very own Chris Renfro (TheRenfro) designed these. They're single-layer leather and engineered very well.

As Chris has designed them, he states that if you want more English, go with the soft. If you want more energy transfer (speed), then go with the hard. Somewhere inbetween....try the Ki-tech Medium.

I don't know of any tip that's made quite like this, so some of the characteristics or traits in other tips (rules of thumb) don't quite apply to Ki-Tech.

Renfro sells a sampler pack with one hardness each. That would be a great way to go.

I've been using mine for about 8 months now and the sound of the tip is music to my ears.

everyone who really loved old moori should try G2 soft or G2 medium.

imo G2 and Zan are producing the best tips with the best repeatable results i ve seen in years.
