Alex Pagulayan going to UK to try pro snooker

hate to burst your bubble...

30-40 per game or turn? Against who? On a real 12 foot snooker table with correct pockets and balls (Sorry my American friends a 10 Foot table with pool pockets is not a Snooker table). Everyone here who thinks that Alex won't or is not favored to make it believe that....now read carefully....it's too late in his age to attempt.

Now if Alex had gone down this road at 20 or preferably 16. Now you have most of us with a different opinion.

Nick

Most snooker tables in the us are setup MORE difficult than a standard snooker table, not LESS... they aren't ten footers either and they have the rounded corners.

The table I had a 72 break on (<-----I can count on my fingers the number of times I've played snooker) is setup with tighter than regulation pockets because they're setup to play golf on.

I would love to have the opportunity to play on a regulation snooker table for extended periods to see what I can do. There just aren't any here.

Should he qualify for the pro tour, Alex has NO chance of EVER making an impact. No pool player does. You can forget about it if you are not a regular century maker by the time you are about 12.
For example: 12-year-old Luca Brecel 147-break

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgPuJhXnRHY

These guys count century breaks as routine & lose count of their 147's. Does anyone know how many Alex has yet? Any in competition?

So far as what Alex is doing, I only wish him the best. This may well be a bucket list item for him and, in any case, it's what he wants to do. More power to him.

Jam, was that Canadian that Keith played Frank Jonik by any chance?

Is this you, needing three attempts to pot a simple ball into a 5.5" pocket?

Like I said, Barton is a regular 50 breaker.:rolleyes:

incognito

well, looks like alex is going undercover in q school.

he's using an alias....alejandro. maybe no one will notice

I believe I could get back to the point of century breaks being common if I could play every day against a decent snooker player. My eyes are no where near as good as they once were but I still think I could do it. :)

I will be happy to play you snooker any time...

I'll play you ANY cue game you want. Thaiger...

and that table has pockets as tight as any table in Cali... and I was using extreme BHE on every shot in that game even where it wasn't necessary but I had to shoot that shot too soft and wasn't adjusting for that since I was talking, but like I said, ANY cue game on ANY table that you want to play. I will be happy to... :)

Can I have four attempts to make easy balls into the side? ;)

sure...

You start talking to demonstrate something and use extreme inside english into a triple shimmed gold crown and you can have four attempts...

But you have to have previously made 6 shots with extreme english on each one as well into 3 7/8" pockets...

Jaden

btw...That video was over five years ago...

looks like they're predicting only 128 entries, I would have guessed 10x that

for the meager entry fee of only a few hundred pounds, I'm surprised a few more pool players don't make a vaca out of it and give it a go

no this is the problem...

You said you knew a lot of pro pool players were excellent golfers, and I simply added that there isn't a single one (despite their excellency) that would make it on the PGA tour.

Just like a pro pool player would have almost no chance of being top 16 or better in pro snooker. Being a champion in one discipline doesn't automatically mean you'll be a champion in another. You'll probably do well, but there's a huge difference between being good and being top tier.

And in case you missed it the first time, I really really really really (emphasis on REALLY) want Alex to succeed. However, if I were a betting man, I'd bet against him.

There is almost NO ONE who can afford to devote the time AND has the desire to succeed and the ability to succeed to switch disciplines. It has NOTHING to do with can't as far as ability is concerned.

There are people in many current careers that could be pros at many sports. There are pros at sports that can switch and be good pros at other sports.

One of the most note worthy was Bo Jackson.

We've had TWO people try to make it at pro snooker, but there are many more styles of pool play than snooker play. Two is hardly enough of a sample to determine if others can't make the transition. It is possible that those two players didn't have styles that were conducive to the switch.

I'm tired of this can't do attitude, you guys need to read your history a little closer. Every time someone has said that people couldn't do something, they were proven fools in retrospect.

better late than never wish him the best of luck
north america has not had any representatives for a good while on the pro circuit
only sending players to dead end ibsf tournaments
alex and whoever wants to commit from the north americas to the 2 year tour should have a direct spot on the tour without going to q-school
