Guns and Cues, Show us your Piece

Yeah a lot of us...

You, sir, are a moron.

I never said I needed a gun to keep me calm, those were your words. I mentioned that as I grew older and had a family and responsibilities my mindset changed, it is called maturity.

I will not allow myself to be involved in situations now, that I may have previously, due to legal ramifications and the reality that for every instigator there are 10 lawyers standing by to sue someone. If someone gets drunk or is just an idiot and tries to involve me in a conflict I will make every effort to extricate myself from the situation. When I had less to lose I didn't concern myself with repercussions from my actions as I do now.

You can think what you want of me, that is your right, but your snide comments make you look like a douche.

I'm sure there are a lot of us that matured out of that stage as we grew older.

I wouldn't necessarily start fights when I was younger, but I found myself not letting any challenge go unanswered.

Really I don't get some people's responses. There was nothing about what you said that relayed the information that carrying a gun calmed you down or that you didn't carry a gun also when you were a bit of a hot head...

Absolutely and totally agree with this...

It is the opposite of what you think. The moment you have a gun on you it is your responsibility to never get into a confrontation. There is no such thing as "What are you looking at" or "Are you talking to me".

You in effect have to become ultra passive, or you may instigate something and have to use the gun as a result of your own doing. Better to take a few insults or even embarrassment then get in a confrontation over nothing. Self defense means self defense. If you can't abide by this then never leave the house with a gun on you.

I will not lie, there is a difference, such as you are driving and some guy cuts you off and shoots you the bird. You feel totally confident and there is no need to confront anyone. You just go on your way. All ego has to be left at home when you carry a gun.

Self defense is exactly that.

There can be no aggression whatsoever and it still be considered self defense IMO...

Now I believe in an attempt to de-escalate any confrontational situation, but I also stand behind stand your ground laws. turning and running is a good way to get shot in the back...

It's going to be hard on me emotionally the next time I go shooting..

It'll be hard on me the next time I go shooting cause one of the main things me and my friend that just died did together was go shooting.

I taught him how to shoot and we would go shooting together all the time.

I'm speaking for him at the funeral on Saturday and I'm sure one of the things I'll mention is how he used to love to go to my ranch and go shooting.

Here's a rare one...........Anyone know what it is and what LWS stands for? no Googling!! lol

LWS stands for an excellent firearm. And Larry W Seecamp. The gun is a Colt Commander that has been customized by Larry Seecamp at the Seecamp factory. No Google necessary, I have number 522 of the LWS 32.

Sorry about your friend, Jaden. I never go into NPR so I didn't know. So young, what a tragedy.

If one likes gun and likes to shoot them as long as they can afford it get them. You never really lose money on a gun unless you were some kind of sucker when you bought it. They have to be one of the easiest things to turn into cash if the needs arises.
They are a classic example of "Having your cake and eating it to".
Guys who like guns are almost always in the market for another gun and if it is a good deal they will buy. Before you know it you have quite a few and possibly a fairly valuable collection. It's not like spending money, you are just putting it a different place.

^^THIS^^

and it's still legal for 2 individuals to sell amongst themselves w/out licenses.
not to mention, they're good to have if/when it all goes to Hell - assuming you've got plenty of ammo.

I have had my CA CCW for 20+ years......I have had my Utah Non-Resident Concealed Fire Arm Permit for the past 6 years.....My Utah license is good in 40 states but not CA....hence I have two CCW permits....by the way, I have never stopped or stayed in Utah in my life.....drove through the state a few times but never got out of my car........applied for a Utah Non-Resident License through my local gun range where I'm a member.........took all of a month to get my Utah permit......and it has a 5 year issuance period......and is dirt cheap compared with CA's two year period and much higher license fees.

You have to check any changes in the law. There have been some 2014 up dates. One I read is that some states will only now recognize a permit if you are a resident of the state issuing the permit. I have a book on my states gun laws and I get updates on changes. They take place frequently.

And you Sir get the Gold Star today!!!

This has been a really good thread. Although not really about pool it has been like a gabfest you have hanging in the pool room. Close to 200 posts and over 5000 views in one day. Wow

On a more fun related topic....hey Jay...you ask and it just so happens I happen to have a Winchester Model 94 (30 W.C.F.) made in June 1948.

Winchester doesn't make actions like they did back then.....what a friggin great rifle. Here's some photos.

Matt B.

One of the best rifles ever made. Probably the one most responsible for decimating the buffalo herds though. Accurate, powerful and pretty much flawless. 60 years old and not one misfire yet. I don't know if you can say that about too many semi-autos.

Packing

Safe is full, no hand guns, shotguns for intruders, rifles for getting dinner.

As a preface, I make myself aware of the law any where that I intend to carry . I also live in one of, if not THE most imbridled state.

However, it isn't macho to state that, it's the reality.

Anyone who chooses not to carry puts their lives into the hands of other people, unless they are willing to defend themselves unarmed.

Whether that be putting their lives into the hands of police (good luck there) or into the hands of those who would threaten your life.

You say that sounds macho. If you consider doing what you have to in order to protect you and your loved ones macho, then please remove any negative connotations from that term (which is impossible).

The laws which you described (of which I know many) were described perfectly as they are....an infringement on our right to keep and bear arms...

Any place that it is a felony simply to have a firearm... that's a law that infringes on our right to keep and bear arms.

People have to stop being pussy whipped and demand that our government recognize our rights and stop trampling on them.

The people that irk me the most are the ones fighting to limit or restrict our ability to protect ourselves even more because THEY don't want guns out there. I'll tell you what, working honestly, get 2/3rds of both houses and 3/4ths of the people of the states to agree with you and you can do it legally. Without that you are just pussy hacks who like to have a false sense of security and are willing to sacrifice every one else out of your selfishness.

^--------macho man extraordinaire (according to some)

so basically what you're saying, is that when you stayed with us after shooting pool (let's keep it pool-related), you had yours on the end table - and i had mine on the nightstand?
;)

As does the cargo pocket on shorts that have them, but I highly suggest you spend some time getting used to retrieving it smoothly from there. Also, If and when I use that pocket, I only snap/button one of the two on that particular pocket, leaving one undone, for easier access.

I've carried in a fanny pack when hiking. Actually very easy to retrieve from there. I carried my little .25 Browning in my back pocket for maybe 15 years. It looked like a pack of cigs.

And it also fits very handily in the front of the pool apron I wear that I was able to get from you. Youngsters.....anyone under 30 yrs old....still inquire and others just say "Wow...haven't seen one for awhile." and the mature players over 55 yrs old all ask "Where you get it?".

Jay, that denim apron is really well made and my clothes remain spotless, especially when playing tournaments where it seems every player, or so it seems, pretty much leaves the chalk on the rail upside down a lot.......the apron is really cool and keeps my clothes clean.....Thanks.

That's got to be ten years ago I sold that to you. The wife of a friend of mine made it for me when I owned my last pool room. She had made one for him and I asked her about it and she made one for me. Those are probably the only two she ever made. I could never get used to playing with an apron. I'm sooo old school! I'm glad you like it.

if the OP would change his thread title to:

GUNS AND CUES, SHOW US WHAT YOU SHOOT WITH

it'd cinch it @ MAIN forum; pool related, and eliminate a few minor headaches.
