Guns and Cues, Show us your Piece

Most times I travel I rely on my knife for defense..

so basically what you're saying, is that when you stayed with us after shooting pool (let's keep it pool-related), you had yours on the end table - and i had mine on the nightstand?
;)

In the hands of someone trained to use one, a knife is much better for self defense in most cases. (or one of the pen jabbers shown earlier in the thread)

1) It's too much of a pain to fly with a gun.
2) I fly to Jersey and New York and never know where I'll be flying once I'm on the road and there have been instances where someone just traveling to an airport in Jersey and New York were arrested on weapons charges...

p.s. I did have two knives on my pants when I stayed on the couch...

These are three of my favorites. The top one is a Colt Pocket Lite .38, probably the smallest and lightest semi-auto .38 you can buy. Check out the shells, you can't buy these anymore (Firepower .38's). They expand and explode - nasty!

The second piece is a .22 Beretta, one of the best small .22's you can own, fool proof and compact.

The last is my .22 derringer. So small it will fit in the little front insert pocket in my jeans. Don't be fooled by it's small size. It holds five LR cartridges! I have been known to carry this one, when I'm holding serious money or gambling high.

My other favorite is my Ruger Bearcat .22. It's a western style pistol that is small, easy to handle and fires five LR shells. I have a range at my house and can hit a 3" target at 30' with this gun. I carry it when hiking in national parks, mainly to scare off mountain lions or bears (don't laugh I've seen them).

P.S. I wish there were tighter gun control laws, but in the meantime I don't plan to be defenseless with all the lunatics out there.

I've had two of those. The lightest semi-auto is a keltec.

wait a minute! so that pen-gun, was just a KNIFE? cause it looked A LOT like mine - which i had forgotten (till NOW) that i have in storage! but i know mine is a pen-gun, cause when i was rummaging through Daddy's stuff, i "clicked-it", and luckily missed my ex-husband & put a damn hole through the garage wall! guess i need to dig it out tomorrow.

yes, flying w/ approved case & padlock & key(s) & $70 upcharge - you need to add another ONE HOUR to your departure time. it's a biotch. and that's what "friends in every town" are for.

PS - i should have shown you my switchblade when you were here - no WONDER, i liked you!!!!

Why am I the Colonel? Because I always get the chicken

Supreme Court has nothing to do with CCW or gun ownership other than how it applies within a single jurisdiction, i.e., city, state, etc. Once you cross state lines, the Supreme Court has refused to get involved with gun ownership, transportation or concealed carry privileges. The Court feels that this is an issue best decided at the individual state level and entertains cases only involving restrictive practices and legislation that interfere, impede or deny an individual citizen's rights to bear arms.

Each state is individually entitled and empowered to enact legislation that only pertains to individuals residing in that state, albeit temporarily of any duration whatsoever or permanent residency. As such, each and every state can negotiate with another state, which need not be geographically adjacent to one another, for reciprocal gun rights and accordingly, accept another state CCW permit in so far as the accepting state's laws must always be precedent to the issuing state's CCW provisions.

That's how I get to carry a concealed piece in 40 states.......CA doesn't have reciprocity with any other state's gun laws, nor does New York, or 10 other states. At last count, there were 12 states that do not have any CCW reciprocity with any other state. I will not renew my permit for awhile and maybe by then the number will have increased because it's not going to go down.....only up.

So the Supreme Court has never ruled that any state must accept gun permits that were issued by another state.........yeah, sure...........there are states now where you can get a gun the same day without a background check......and what about Georgia's stupid new law allowing concealed carry anywhere.....schools, churches, some government buildings, college campuses, and even bars....that's going to lead to drunken gun fights and parking lot encounters......OMG.

Nope....states rights is much too an important matter and this Supreme court doesn't have any federalist minded Jeffersonian types on it.........when it comes to gun laws, the Court is focused entirely upon intra-state matters and not inter-state because that would require more federal laws applying to guns on a national level.....those assholes in Washington can't even get a background check requirement enacted when 91% of Americans agree it's necessary.......I'm a 91%er........are you one of the 9% assholes?

I'll look up the case that I was referring to.

It had to do with one state not recognizing another state's CCW and the ruling was pretty clear...It's possible I'm mistaken but when I had read about it I remember being pretty stoked but was pissed because my Florida CCW wouldn't have to be recognized by CA because I'm a resident of CA...

I'll look it up when I get a chance and post a link to it...

Edit: I have not been able to find the case I was referring to so I may be incorrect after all... I don't know though I will keep searching and let everyone know if I find it.

So you're essentially saying the Supreme Court simply refused to hear any case since there's no legal precedent for any state to mandatorily become obligated in any way to accept or abide by another state's gun laws.

It doesn't make any sense for the Court to actually sit in session to review a argument that has never and doesn't currently exist, i.e., what one state individually decides applies to all other 49 states. I'd be interested in learning what you find out. In all likelihood, it sounds like the Court refused to hear a case and relegated the matters back to the lower courts. However, if a dispute arose between states that have reciprocity with each other's gun laws, then that's an entirely different proposition and might even have ICC inferences attached , if Justice Roberts has the final word which he does as Chief Justice.

91% huh? How many of you out there were ever asked or surveyed about your thoughts about supporting stricter gun laws? I sure wasn't.

I've carried in a fanny pack when hiking. Actually very easy to retrieve from there. I carried my little .25 Browning in my back pocket for maybe 15 years. It looked like a pack of cigs.

I have always admired those little Browning 25. Never shot one, but my experience with ANYTHING Browning is that it would be top notch. I have shot thousands of rounds through my Browning Citori over and under trap shotgun.

I really like my Walther PPK/S (Made by Smith & Wesson). It is a touch heavy, but gives it a very solid feel. I have heard some giggling about a .380 as well, but it might not stop everything on one round, it will sure get somebodies attention. Another downside, is this time finding 380 ammo is sometimes tough.

I often use the pool table as a backdrop for gun pics.
Less now that is freshly recovered

I was, and the survey question was worded so as to make you appear like a true gun nut unless you were in favor of gun control along the lines of someone along the lines of an Obama. I guess I'm now considered a gun nut. If you buy a gun in the US from a dealer you must fill out a form for the feds and I'm not aware of any states that don't have a requirement for a NCIS check. The feds will never get control of citizen to citizen sales without confiscation.

Ken, just picked this one up last week.
Super rare Sig P220 - Factory Nickel NIB from early 90's
Last one I saw on Gunbroker sold up in the low-end Southwest cue territory :D

I've had two of those. The lightest semi-auto is a keltec.

I had a Kahr .38 but it jammed a couple of times on me so I sold it. It could be difficult just to chamber a round! Cost me almost $600, sold it for $500 and was glad to get rid of it. I love my little Colt. Fired many rounds through it and never failed once.

From TSA Stats- No mention of NY/NJ Further reading indicates JFK had ONE gun arrest in 2013

'Of the 12 airports with the most guns last year, five are in Texas: Dallas-Fort Worth International, 80 guns; George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, 52; Dallas Love Field, 37; William P. Hobby in Houston, 35, and Austin-Bergstrom International, 33. Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta had the most for any airport, at 96. Others include Phoenix Sky Harbor, 54; Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International in Florida, 42; Denver International, 39; Seattle-Tacoma International, 37; Orlando International Airport in Florida, 36, and Tampa International in Florida, 33.'
