You, sir, are a moron.
I never said I needed a gun to keep me calm, those were your words. I mentioned that as I grew older and had a family and responsibilities my mindset changed, it is called maturity.
I will not allow myself to be involved in situations now, that I may have previously, due to legal ramifications and the reality that for every instigator there are 10 lawyers standing by to sue someone. If someone gets drunk or is just an idiot and tries to involve me in a conflict I will make every effort to extricate myself from the situation. When I had less to lose I didn't concern myself with repercussions from my actions as I do now.
You can think what you want of me, that is your right, but your snide comments make you look like a douche.
It is the opposite of what you think. The moment you have a gun on you it is your responsibility to never get into a confrontation. There is no such thing as "What are you looking at" or "Are you talking to me".
You in effect have to become ultra passive, or you may instigate something and have to use the gun as a result of your own doing. Better to take a few insults or even embarrassment then get in a confrontation over nothing. Self defense means self defense. If you can't abide by this then never leave the house with a gun on you.
I will not lie, there is a difference, such as you are driving and some guy cuts you off and shoots you the bird. You feel totally confident and there is no need to confront anyone. You just go on your way. All ego has to be left at home when you carry a gun.
It'll be hard on me the next time I go shooting cause one of the main things me and my friend that just died did together was go shooting.
I taught him how to shoot and we would go shooting together all the time.
I'm speaking for him at the funeral on Saturday and I'm sure one of the things I'll mention is how he used to love to go to my ranch and go shooting.

If one likes gun and likes to shoot them as long as they can afford it get them. You never really lose money on a gun unless you were some kind of sucker when you bought it. They have to be one of the easiest things to turn into cash if the needs arises.
They are a classic example of "Having your cake and eating it to".
Guys who like guns are almost always in the market for another gun and if it is a good deal they will buy. Before you know it you have quite a few and possibly a fairly valuable collection. It's not like spending money, you are just putting it a different place.
i like you jay but i think you may be full of BS, 3" bull at 30 ft with a darrenger,i might have to see that in person....
I have had my CA CCW for 20+ years......I have had my Utah Non-Resident Concealed Fire Arm Permit for the past 6 years.....My Utah license is good in 40 states but not CA....hence I have two CCW permits....by the way, I have never stopped or stayed in Utah in my life.....drove through the state a few times but never got out of my car........applied for a Utah Non-Resident License through my local gun range where I'm a member.........took all of a month to get my Utah permit......and it has a 5 year issuance period......and is dirt cheap compared with CA's two year period and much higher license fees.

LWS stands for an excellent firearm. And Larry W Seecamp. The gun is a Colt Commander that has been customized by Larry Seecamp at the Seecamp factory. No Google necessary, I have number 522 of the LWS 32.
On a more fun related topic....hey Jay...you ask and it just so happens I happen to have a Winchester Model 94 (30 W.C.F.) made in June 1948.
Winchester doesn't make actions like they did back then.....what a friggin great rifle. Here's some photos.

As a preface, I make myself aware of the law any where that I intend to carry . I also live in one of, if not THE most imbridled state.
However, it isn't macho to state that, it's the reality.
Anyone who chooses not to carry puts their lives into the hands of other people, unless they are willing to defend themselves unarmed.
Whether that be putting their lives into the hands of police (good luck there) or into the hands of those who would threaten your life.
You say that sounds macho. If you consider doing what you have to in order to protect you and your loved ones macho, then please remove any negative connotations from that term (which is impossible).
The laws which you described (of which I know many) were described perfectly as they are....an infringement on our right to keep and bear arms...
Any place that it is a felony simply to have a firearm... that's a law that infringes on our right to keep and bear arms.
People have to stop being pussy whipped and demand that our government recognize our rights and stop trampling on them.
The people that irk me the most are the ones fighting to limit or restrict our ability to protect ourselves even more because THEY don't want guns out there. I'll tell you what, working honestly, get 2/3rds of both houses and 3/4ths of the people of the states to agree with you and you can do it legally. Without that you are just pussy hacks who like to have a false sense of security and are willing to sacrifice every one else out of your selfishness.

^--------macho man extraordinaire (according to some)
As does the cargo pocket on shorts that have them, but I highly suggest you spend some time getting used to retrieving it smoothly from there. Also, If and when I use that pocket, I only snap/button one of the two on that particular pocket, leaving one undone, for easier access.
And it also fits very handily in the front of the pool apron I wear that I was able to get from you. Youngsters.....anyone under 30 yrs old....still inquire and others just say "Wow...haven't seen one for awhile." and the mature players over 55 yrs old all ask "Where you get it?".
Jay, that denim apron is really well made and my clothes remain spotless, especially when playing tournaments where it seems every player, or so it seems, pretty much leaves the chalk on the rail upside down a lot.......the apron is really cool and keeps my clothes clean.....Thanks.

You have to check any changes in the law. There have been some 2014 up dates. One I read is that some states will only now recognize a permit if you are a resident of the state issuing the permit. I have a book on my states gun laws and I get updates on changes. They take place frequently.
