I wanted to watch some more movies involving pool but don't know of any good ones besides the ones I have already seen. I have seen, The Color Of Money, The Hustler, and Pool Hall Junkies. Does anyone have a favorite pool movie or any suggestions other than the movies I listed?

I have not personally seen it but I have heard about it many times. I believe it's called The Baltimore Bullet. If ya watch please post up a review on it thanks!

Jennifer Barretta and Jeanette Lee recently appeared in 9-ball, The Movie. Unlike other movies, I believe they made their own shots.

The Baltimore Bullet is a favorite of mine. Its only available as a region 2 DVD, but there are many all region DVD players out there. Stickmen is from New Zealand/Australia and then there is The Baron and the Kid starring Johnny Cash.

Wow where have I been??? Didn't hear a thing about the J Lee movie at all. When did it come out , where can I see it?

"Turn the river" was somewhat about pool, "Shooting gallery" was kind of cool as well.

Sometimes you can find the Baltimore Bullet on Youtube or you can google search it and you can stream it. More of a fun pool movie but a good one. I'd put it right behind The Hustler and Color of money

Did they ever really release it?

Watched it on roku from amazon prime. Bad bad bad bad bad. Lots of APA promoting going on, but it was scripted, acted and filmed like a 1990s cinemax titty movie.
But it was a pool movie, so thats something...... LOL. If it got anyone interested in playing it was a good thing, just painful to watch.

Without a doubt.....The Hustler.....I was able to spend a day at Ames while they filmed the movie.......my step dad and I sat in the upper balcony with some other regulars from Ames. We watched the filming of some of Mosconi's trick shots and some pool scenes with Newman & Gleason. George C. Scott was supposed to also be there but they changed the day's filming schedule and he wasn;t needed that day we were there. I was 15 years old and had only started playing pool and I became a pool addict afterwards.

I have my favorites... The have already been listed. But I think the pool genre is a rich one that could easily be a series of movies. They haven't made the movie I want to see. I wanna see a story starting in Angeles City with a 9 year old kid standing on stacked beer crates running out a 15 ball progression rack. That would be a great movie... One everyone would see.

Please contact me if you wanna fund me to write the screen play.

Man, for me, "Turn the River" was down right unwatchable...I think Rod Steiger needed the money real bad...Although "Pool Hall Junkies" was very campy (Mars Callahan got on my nerves big time), it was fun to watch and Walken's one liners are classic. I think there have only been two real movies about pool, "the Hustler" and TCOM. Maybe we'll get another one, like a bio pic on Greenleaf or a dark movie about a drug addicted pool player like Jack Hynes or Waterdog or St. Louis Louis...could be compelling, but I doubt anyone's got a script in the works.

LOL, you owe me a new computer monitor, mine's all covered with pepsi now...:D

The Baltimore Bullet was pretty much crap IMO. It wasn't even bad in a good way like Tremors or Anaconda. It was just a bad movie.

Turn the River wasn't very compelling, but Pool Hall Junkies was fun for the most part, especially with Walken in it. I enjoyed The Grand, which is a comedic poker film, kind of in the Spinal Tap style of mockumentary. The only other pool film I can think of was made in New Zealand, and I can't remember it's name.

I agree that a road story style pool film that doesn't glamorize the hustler image would be good to see. I think Ronnie Allen had a story where a guy nearly bankrupted a casino, was a millionaire for maybe a month and then lost it all again. lots of good stories out there, just hard to make them into successful movies

oh, I just found another one, Kiss Shot with... wait for it... Whoopi Goldberg

Synopsis:
''A detached black mother looses her job and though the ability to pay back her credit. She recalls her billiard skills and begins to play for money. Will she be cool enough to be a pro in such a game? Things get worse when she falls in love with an opponent."

I haven't seen the film, but thought I'd post it.

Movie with the best pool scene: Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Wait am I doing this right?

The movie itself is kind of a sleeper, but there's a great pool/hustling scene in racing with the moon with sean penn and nick cage. (they were very young in that movie)
