To Mark Griffin:

Post

Hats off to mark.

The pro players will find something to upset about no matter what...
I bet someone complained that the money they received was green and had dead presidents on it...
It's his money so he decides who can be eligible to receive it.

And I bet if he took his tour to Europe he would not have all the bullshit' so just be greatful at what he's doing for pool in the USA.

Keep up the good work mark griffin!

Of coarse there was, a slam dunk solution. It's done all the time this way.

Issue Ralf a forfeit ------ Issue Ko a bye ----- done ---- in fact very simple
If he had done that in two weeks no one would even remember Ralf withdrew.
tell me this is wrong.

There would be no controversy ---- Mark brought this on himself if he didn't think
what he did would cause a sh*t storm, THEN HE DIDN'T THINK PERIOD.

5 people making an issue about it over and over again on the internet is a sh*t storm? You are giving yourself too much credit.

Mark,
After last year's event I heard you on the podcast speak of frustration, being pissed off, and ready to quit. I didn't get it then, but after perusing the endless stream of threads devoted to this year's "controversy", I do now. How you have had the patience to deal with everything you do and come back year after year, seemingly for more of the same, says volumes about what you are willing to do for pool. The Ko/Ralf/Shane matter was the perfect "damned if you do, damned if you don't" storm and there was no easy, slam dunk solution.

If this was the last straw, I would understand, but here's hoping you have a little more left in the tank. Pool needs more folks like you.

Of coarse there was a simple slam dunk solution. It's called a BYE

What I think is he knew, and did what he wanted anyway, fair or unfair.
If it was fair there would be no uproar...but it wasn't so deal with it, cause it was unfair.

Just how is he "damned if you do, damned if you don't. He's not.
If he issued Ko a bye, only a few idiots would complain that they were shorted 1 match
out of like 50 hours of PPV during the week, or daily $15 for 5 matches.
That day there would be 4 so if any idiots complained it would be about $3 dollars,
hence the term idiot.

Your sport is dying

there is virtually no money in pool. Local rooms are closing regularly. Only 1 american pro player can make enough money to support a family without a day job, let alone themselves. While not all but many promoters of big tournaments have been continuously screwing players for years. Darts has more big sponsorships then pool.

What's my point. I don't have one! Just reminding everyone of the stakes here. Your TOI messiahs and the "let's clean up the pool image at all costs" but dirty it up the first change we get saviors will not be able to pump life into pool after it is dead and it has been a slow death.

Just keep this in mind before you start handing out free passes. I -efin love this sport. I play it everday (not to day I trough my back out), I watch it every night on dvds and 90% of the people in my life outside family and work are pool friends. I take create passion to those that threaten the sport, even more to those that promised something more. What's the deal guys?

Let's try to turn this into a positive. Let's learn from this and most importantly let's show the rest of the wold (where pool is doing much better, bwt) that the US is a great pool country with great people. Fix this MARK!!!!!! Fix it please.

Ditto. This will be my last year in the French Quarter league here in New Orleans. I am joining the BCA league and hope to see you perhaps at one of CSI's many events in the future.

Thank you Mr. Griffin for keeping pool fun and available for everyone. And tell that Ozzy guy to do some work will 'ya!

Odysseus

I look forward to it!

Bravo, Sir!

Normally I would agree. Just five people? But... that's close to half his viewing audience.

Good job Mark, keep it up.

Mark....you are the man!
With Obama's reign nearing an end there may be a new job opening:wink:.

Everyone knows that opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stick as the saying goes.

I'm just glad that my grandfather fought in the big war to allow everyone the right to give theirs no matter if anyone agrees with it or not.

Some people liked the decision, some people hated it and in the end the only opinion that matters is mark griffin's since its his show. He can hold an event again next year and some people who said they wouldn't buy it will buy it, some who say they will buy won't buy it. The guy likes pool, so i assume that if he at least broke even or made money he'll do another and if he lost money he'd be a bad business man to do the same thing again.

It is just sad that the Ko's might have left with a sour taste and that we might never see them again. It would just be more easy picking on US soil for SVB i guess.
