Brunswick GC VI?

I was under the (mistaken) impression that Brunswick had abandoned the industry and wouldn't spend any time or money to design new products.

Glad to know different.

Seems to me like Brunswick has given up on the pool industry and are just interested in making furniture. Aren't they the ones that pulled their booth from the trade show? So now they will go to design school students and not players for input or concepts? How about getting a student and a professional to team up.

Two of those tables would be a pain to play on let alone keep an exact level. Diamond is more for players and the sport. At least that's the way it seems to me.

Here is a link for some of the finalists in the design of the new GCVI...any additional information would be great. http://vimeo.com/100737506

Wow...that's a great find...and glade Brunswicks is still going to do more GC tables....I had a lot of my design in the GC5....and I still think it's the best looking GC ever and best frame on the GC as well.
Guess....Brunswick didn't like my design that much.....it's only what 7 years and now the 6 is coming out....lol
Can't wait to see it....and put it together.....I may not understand how to put it together. Lol
Brunswick looks to be going into the homes for the 6.....not the poolrooms.
Oh well.....we'll see.

What a joke. All of them look like trash. If they are going to go to a six it should look better than the 4 or 5. NONE of those do. No player input huh....

If you helped with the V, great input. That looked like the natural progression & was the best looking Gold Crown to date. It is a shame they are going with furniture people. Sad.

I got two GC 5 tables 10 sets of pockets and 10 sets of super speed cushions....some shirts and hat......lol
But I don't think anything will out do the 5 frame for sure...and the rails stay in place with the 45 degree castings....I think that tables the best one Brunswick will ever make for commercial tables.
But...what do I know......really surprised they're comong out with the 6 so fast.....the 3 ran for about 20 years....the 4 ran for about 10 years but the frame was a problem......I think they fixed all the problems of all the GC tables on the 5......but if you think about it......we really don't see that many GC5 tables out there.
I know Brunswick does fantastic in the home market......and Diamond is taking over the commercial business it seems......so what I'm thinking...Brunswick is going to try and go into the homes for the 6 design.
Diamond only has the paragon table for home use.....and you really have to like the look of that table...to have that in your home......and not many want the look of the GC table in the home.
We all know it's hard to get commercial play in a home table....I think Brunswick may have it right.....and I have said it for years....give them the commercial play in a furniture style table for the homes.
I do table and rails everyday.....what all the table manufacturing companies offer in a home style table.....well....it don't play very well at all.
Everyone knows......if the wife doesn't play pool...but allows you to put a table in the house.......she wants the table to look good in the house......and the ones that look good....play like shit...lol
We will just have to see who wins the design contest.....and what the table will look like.
I just don't believe the tables ever going to play like a GC table again....hope I'm wrong.

Fine, I'll be the dissenting opinion.

I think its a good idea that Brunswick is thinking outside of the box. At least they're trying something new. I understand that pool has a long tradition but from what I've seen it's also on the edge of extinction.

Maybe designing a table that appeals to people outside of the existing pool community will make some of them...any of them at all...consider buying one.

No disrespect to Mark or his work though. Actually, his restored anniversary tables are pure artwork and I wouldn't mind seeing Brunswick reach out to him for input on resurrecting that design.

Why is a GC $11000 and a Diamond $6000? Something isnt right. I was in a store and the salesman told me $11000. I laughed and told him I can get a Diamond for $6000. He didn't even have a comeback for me because he knew it was ridiculous.

The fact that the home tables play like crap is not just an pool insiders secret. Even beginners can tell the difference a little.

The idea that a table that looks good *might* play like a gold crown is huge. Granted, it takes a minute or two to stomach the $10k price tag but people spend more and get less in other areas these days.

And as great as diamonds play, I doubt most wives want a table sitting in their home with a giant Simonis sticker on the side and the dymondwood is definitely not a home furniture material.

Then again, Brunswick Anniversary tables look great but where do you find someone who can restore them...hmmm...;)

Which is funny because even the site lists it at $9999. Maybe the additional $1k was for delivery and setup?!?!?!

That's a good point...but one great thing about a Brunswick table.....there're built for life.....Brunswick table that 100 years old are still in play.....I restore tables 60 or more years old.
The Brunswick tables were built strong and last forever.
But the price of some of them are high....really high.
I just wish someone would do something for the game.....not all about how much profit can we make......no one does anything to keep the game alive....they do it to sale tables and to make money on the tournament they put together......sad but true.
I'll just keep restoring Centennials and Anniversay tables and doing rail work....I don't have the right people in place to help the game move forward.....but I do wish someone would do it for pool....not the money.
Mark Gregory

I'm pretty sure they only ofer the paragon table now.....I don't stand by that.....but I think Glen just told me that the other day.
Diamond wants the commercial end of the business....not the home tables.
On the other hand....Brunswick sells a ton of home tables and not as many commercial tables....maybe cause of the price of the GC......but the young players have grown up playing on Diamonds and Like the way diamonds play....I grew up on the GC tables.....so I like the way they play.
If Brunswick picks the right look for the 6.....they just may have a good chance putting them in the homes.
But I do believe Brunswick will give up a lot of how the GC played....if they make it for home use.
I could be wrong.....and trust me...that won't be a first....lol

GC'S do not have plywood frames and they're not infamous for skidding.
