In a field of 126, the great matches come a little sooner and, at the US Open 9-ball, winners bracket round two looks pretty special:
Strickland vs Dang
Jinhu Dang is not well known in the USA but he's one of the top Chinese players and should provide quite a test for Earl. Should be a good one.
Bartram vs Immonen
Two well-known players who once played a double hill thriller for a spot in the finals of the US Open 9-ball event. Mike gets the edge here, but Chris is very capable of the upset. Late Correction: it was Donny Mills, not Bartram. However, Chris has beaten Mika in a US Open 9-ball match.
Bergman/Dechaine
A battle of the two best twenty something players in America. Bergman won over a killer field at Hard times earlier this year and Dechaine has numerous titles in the Northeast, most of them on the Joss Tour. Great match!
Justin Hall vs. Wang Can
Justin Hall is already a great all-around player and won Master fo the Table at the Southern Classic a couple of years ago. Wang Can made his presence known in America when he came second to Immonen at the 2013 Ultimate 10-ball.
Darryl Peach vs Tom D'Alfonso
Tom has made some fairly deep runs in the US Open before. At that magnificent Providence, RI room Snookers, he plays in the shadow of Mike Dechaine, but he's a great player and a very dangerous opponent. He'll give Darryl Peach, a former World 9-ball Champion, all he can handle.
Efren Reyes vs Jose Parica
These two need no introduction.
