BTW - how do you know what Jeff sold the cue for?? Were you there??
But here is the bottom line, the guy waited approximately 4 years for a cue and Jeff couldn't wait a while for the guy to pick it up?? That is BS and not the way to do business.

Please list "Some of Those So Called ''Hall of Fame'' Cuemakers,,,," where Olney's cue are as "As Good,,If Not Better".

The real sad part is........I wonder how much money in cue deposits he has taken over the years and hasn't even started the cue order. Since he is backed up 7 plus years, that would be a lot of cues and deposits.
Or took their money and round filed it like he has others.
Or even done what he has to me, but to someone with no balls to call him out.

The Nuthuggers are probably some of those who have put deposits in, and only get the cue Jeff wants to make them. While the promise to get their custom order never gets started.

This is the reason a simple apology from Jeff in the beginning would have gone a long way. People are allowed to make mistakes, but when they respond as he has, it simply further tarnishes his reputation.
Well the thread is back up, but where is it going? I have read it all and Bob Farr's thread as well. The last I read, Jeff has retracted his offer to make your a cue of choice for $800.

I admire your dedication to family. However, no where do I see you accepting any responsibility for poor communication. You were not able to get there for pick up nor even make your calls on time or as promised? To someone not involved, it appears this was not a priority. Why didn't you say to Jeff, " I can not get there until next week, should I send you a check"? Why didn't the two of you TALK to determine what works for each other? By most people and yourself the finger is being pointed at Jeff. However, you both made mistakes, just one was more serious.
Right now it is a loose loose situation. It takes a man to own up to his mistakes and admit he is wrong. I think you need to evaluate your communication and own up to your shortcomings in this deal. If done, it would be awfully hard for Jeff not to reinstate the offer to make you that better cue, knowing we are all watching this play out.
The cue you detailed looked great. Tough to improve on that. It would be nice to see this thread come to a positive conclusion, but it will take two men to each own up to their part in this mess, get beyond the emotions that have flared, and move forward

Well here we are again. In no way does the customer need to "man up" and own his shortcomings. This has nothing to do with how any customer acts and everything to do with how someone runs their business.
This is a one way street where anyone who's ever owned or ran a business knows that customers don't always act the right way, do things the way you want them done or meet expectation.
Imperfect customers are part of the territory.
However it is the business owners responsibility to put policies in place that protect both the buyer and the business owner.
What you want is the buying public to feel safe when they do business with you not for two people to live up to each others expectation.
If this were a handshake deal at a pool hall you'd be 100% correct but this is a business to individual transaction.
The onus will always be on the business owner. Always. That's what separates the places you want to do business and the places you should avoid.
I may be mistaken, but I read that this order was delayed by Jeff a few times.

Everything has been explained in the thread. I have went above and beyond explaining what happened. Even the whole Jeff cursing at me for him Screwing me. Which he never denied.
Explain this. Jeff CALLS one of my friends last night that has a cue order in with Jeff. Been longer than mine. Explaining to him he is just sick about this whole thing, and feels horrible about what happened.
WHY HAVE I NEVER RECIEVED THIS CALL?
All I have ever seen, was him confirming everything I have said in this thread. ( behind a Keyboard as he says).
And then to see him post more Olney Cue pics in the Show me your Olneys thread. Like a smokescreen tactic for the NutHuggers to sweat and praise.
Maybe it's time for you to make that call. This whole thing is out of hand. Step up, even if you are not at fault. You might be surprised at the end result.
I'm with Jamie on this.. You are wasting so much energy in this thread, I just don't get it. Stop kicking the horse and let this thread die. You aired it out and now are wondering why Jeff has not made a call to you?? Personally, I can see both sides of the story, only you and Jeff know EXACTLY what happened. It seems that you are trying to get here is affirmation that you are right, that is it IMHO. That's just my personal perception.

I don't know any of the people involved... But, the way I'm reading this from the outside looking in, the OP had a long history of buying cues from Jeff. Apparently, even at Jeff's recommendation to flip them to defray cost of the OP's custom cue. So, in essence, they were helping each other out with win-win situations.
Then, this happens?
Could it be that there were several factors simultaneously contributing to Jeff's mindset... like perhaps he got tired of people flipping his cues and making more money on them than he felt he was making on them, when factoring in his time and effort spent? Not sure if that falls under "jealousy" or "animosity," but that feeling can grow and fester... Plus, Jeff must have been REALLY hard up for the cash to sell out from under his long term customer like that... And I can't help but think there must be some other factor that would contribute to Jeff doing this, maybe just to teach a lesson to not make a "master artisan" wait for his moolah?
Either way, the message this sends me, as a potential Jeff Olney cue customer..., is that if Jeff is willing to treat a long time customer (borderline part-time sales agent on his behalf) this way, then what does that say about how he's willing to treat me? This screams "STAY AWAY" to me... Which is too bad, because I've liked what I've seen of his cues and read about the way they play.

cue makers are super picky about things, and I know
Jeff is this way. This is not what happened, but if it
was, you would be in the exact same situation you
are in now. I can't say anything for Jeff but this has
happened to me with a different cuemaker before.
Except I had the cue paid in full. So you are really
not in that bad of a situation, certainly nothing that
warrants this kind of attack. You need to call Jeff
and work this out. Or better yet, take a 45 minute
drive, maybe bring a six pack?

It's frequent comments like this that make me swear off of dealing with custom cue makers. I don't want to have to bribe a guy with beer and a damn blow job just to get a pretty peice of wood with a sliver of leather at the end of it.
Seems like with anything in the pool world these days, you've got to lower the bar so low that you can step over the damn thing. Pitiful. Again, I have the works of the great Earl Strickland echoing in my brain - "Pool is a beautiful game played by ugly people". Dammit.
So I should just suck it up and call him? So maybe he can yell and curse at me some more? I think I will pass on that. I called him a couple times after he hung up on me, left messages, very polite ones. No calls back.

That's were you are 100% wrong about my post. I could really care less to tell you the truth. This stuff happens all the time. Some choose to air it out publicly and some don't. Yours is not a unique situation, and certainly is not worth 18 pages of posts IMO, but it really doesn't matter to me if it reaches 100 pages.

Here is what I think about you. I'm retired. In my previous line of work I frequently encountered people whose problems were always the fault of someone else. That is my opinion of you.
Here are the facts. You said in your original post Olney contacted you on Wednesday October 15 telling you the new cue was ready. What else happened on October 15? You bumped two cues for sale on the wanted/for sale forum totaling $1,000 dollars, just enough to pay for your new cue with this...New Olney is done. So this one needs to go.
I believe if Olney had not sold the cue he would have had it for as long as it took you to come up with the cash. I don't believe all your excuses for not driving a few minutes to pick up the cue. I believe you didn't pick it up because you needed to unload some other cues first.
I'm not bored enough to read the entire thread but I wouldn't be surprised if Brad is your brother and I wouldn't be surprised if he is as rude and inconsiderate as you, which is why Olney banned him. I also wouldn't be surprised if spimp13 and deadstroke are personal friends of yours.
I was born in Iowa - Storm Lake - and lived there - Newell and Knoxville - for a few years. I remember Iowans being far less rude and obnoxious than you and your friends.
