100 year old Brunswick Old Mission B restoration

What's quick and eazy might not be the correct way tho... Now that you've nailed the shim in place you can not adjust the shim if needed...a dab of superglue is simple to break loose with the tap of a hammer...

Did you glue the cloth on.....? The cloth should not of " come loose " or relaxed...
Something has let loose or you had pulled to much slack to the side pockets....
Rob.M

Nothing came loose. Just think I didn't stretch it properly on the first go around. It was the first time stretching cloth. Yeah, I hear you on the brad nails, but there is enough shim left that I can pull the nails and adjust in the future if need be. Good point though. Cloth is stapled in place, no glue. Just a noob moment!!

Looking great so far !..I love woodworking too, but even though I'm retired, it never entered my mind to take on a project like you did. I really admire your persistence..A few years ago, I bought a Gold Crown lll, from a defunct room owner, and put new rails on it, and it turned out very playable..Hope everything goes well for you, down the home stretch !..Wish I could help you on the cue, but I don't have a clue !

Nice looking table!! Really like the organization of the game room too. Might need you to come over and help me get my garage straight!!

I know we sometimes can only get the garage for a pool table but in California the grade from the back of the garage to the front is about 11/2" per 20 feet. I hate to play pool when moving around the ends of the table and the adjustment you have to make physically to play really well. I had a table for years in my garage and the table height went from 291/2" to 31" and I just hated it. But if it's all you have then it's all good.

When you mount the rails to the table, be aware that they are to be placed in a specific order/location. Not just any rail anywhere.

Only two pointers I've seen were meucci's, but I don't think that is one. What do you think it is?

Thanks for the advice on rail positions!! I found the numbers stamped on the rails that indicated their positions. Same goes for the blinds. I got my pockets attached to the slate liner last night, but still have to put my facings on my end rails. Sorry guys, didn't take pics of the pockets going on but will provide one of the finished pockets when I get a chance to snap a pic.

I agree that it looks alot like a meucci, but I havent seen an unmarked meucci. Being in MS, I think it is an early Russ Espiritu. I've contact him and he said it looks like it is probably his, but would have to see it in person to know for sure. The story all lines up to be his. His shop is about 45 mins from where I live, so I'll run it over there and let him take a look when I get a chance (after I finish the table of course)!!

So how do you guys get to the tacks inside the pockets? I'm talking about nailing the pockets to the subrail. I cant seem to get my tack hammer in there and there has to be a trick to it?????

So I had a little time this weekend to make it over that last hurdle!! Table Is DONE!!!!! For the most part. I still have a patent date decal to put on and finish my quarter round around the legs, but the table otherwise is finished!! I picked this table up on August 30. I completed the restoration and assembly on November 16. 10 weeks and one day. My total amount spend on table restoration was $593.99. My total investment on the table itself is $594.99. Of course I spent more than that on accessories, but kept a separate sheet going for just the table. Adding up all of the accessories, I came in at $1016.45. We played our first game on it yesterday and man did it feel great!! Also found a Brunswick ping pong topper in great shape that I picked up along the way. So here you go guys, a finished 100+ yr old Brunswick Old Mission B 8 foot table:

Only one suggestion...get rid of that piece of crap brass bridge head, and replace with one of the batman bridge heads.

Ooo, Scott, snooker players everywhere are snearing at your remark. ;) That's a spider, and is occasionally used in snooker to go over balls for reach. It's a special-purpose bridge and not a standard bridge anyway; the "X"-bridge is the one most used in snooker for reach.

I agree that in pool, there are better bridges. I'm not a fan of the cheapo plastic batman bridges, but they definitely are better than a snooker spider for pool.

All of that and you guys are focusing on my bridge head?? WOW!!! Everyone's a critic!!

It's all in fun. I just thought that it was funny that you guys focused in on the bridge head, and not the 100 yr old restored table!! Had to poke at y'all a little bit!!

Very nicely done! Congrats on completing the job and to be up and playing!

Well done!

That's by far the best looking one dollar table ever seen.
