he'll find em'
If Mr. Wilson truly expects people to sacrifice so much extra time after already being cut, for a chance at making the team next year, then good luck to him in finding three more suckers*ahem* players next year.
it's a loaded question... "Do you think you would be willing to come as part of the team as a non player?".
No one in that position is going to say no...
It would be a different story if you say when they are first chosen as part of the 8, being a part of the 8 means that you will need to commit to going to the mosconi cup regardless as to whether you are part of the playing 5. You will have expenses paid (specifically addressing whether it is expenses paid upfront or reimbersed) and get x amount if we win as a playing team member and x amount if we win as a nonplaying team member.
Still interested?
Even that is still a loaded question. He should also set some specific criteria for the ultimate decision. The willy nilly whatever criteria for being selected in addition to the above just isn't right, it puts too much on the potential players.
If done the same way, he'll find that any players he asks will say they will go, but I doubt any will if they aren't selected under those circumstances, and potential pool of players that haven't 'ditched them' will grow smaller and smaller each year.
When I had major surgery on my knee, (patellar tendon reattachment surgery) where they drilled four holes from bottom to top of my knee cap and shaved off the bottom portion of my knee cap then attached four heavy duty sutures to the tendon and threaded them through the holes and tied them off.
I had to wait for the bone to grow back over the tendon and anyone that has had that type of work done where they get down into the bone, it is supposed to be one of the most painful things you can endure.
I was back to work one week from the day of the surgery. I should've been on disability for 4-6 months. The reason I went back to work???'
I couldn't afford to be on disability for 4-6 weeks, let alone 4-6 months.
You ask people to go away for weeks with limited compensation and expect them to say, yeah let me go...when they were expecting to get 10,000 minimum for that same time frame when they initially accepted???
Some people CAN'T afford to do that, the same way I couldn't afford to be laid out for 4-6 months.
Whether the players want to go may not even come into it. You do what you have to do to support yourself and your family.
Ripping into them for that is unacceptable IMO.
