Mosconi Cup Unpicked Players Bail Out

Did it surprise him when you brought up the topic of the Mosconi Cup?

I'm sure that was the last "topic" he was expecting to talk about, must have caught him completely off guard. ;)

I said, "I brought up the topic of the Mosconi Cup 8" not just the MC in general.

IOW, we talked about the five chosen and the three who were not. (Apparently no one else has talked to him about it, so maybe he was surprised :-) If you're worried about it why don't you ask him if he was surprised.

It's not what he says, it's how he says it.

Wat's a madda, CJ, I don't sugar coat things enough for you?

boo

hoo

Here let me make it better for you and say it closer to the way you like to make a point here, lol:

Exactly, now that JB isn't posting anymore Lou's happy. Now Lou can get the last word
and he's enthusiastically filling JB shoes with vigor. Enjoy Lou !

You and your wife have a Happy Thanksgiving !

I tried not to have the last word further back up in this thread but no one would sing Kumbaya in four part harmony.

Happy T-Day to you and yours.

Lou Figueroa

It is what he says! I have been cordial with him and others with different opinions.

In his latest post I am told to "pound sand". Some can have an adult debate and conversation. Some can't!

He is friends with Mark Wilson and oblivious to anything else. But, Forgets these 3 have been defended in a respectful way.

While camp MW and particularly Lou have gone public and dragged them through the mud.

The 3 and their friends have not started threads trashing mark or maligning mark.

That is the big difference!

Kd

There's a "big difference" between dragging someone through the mud and pointing out, "Hey look, those guys just jumped in the mud."

he'll find em'

If Mr. Wilson truly expects people to sacrifice so much extra time after already being cut, for a chance at making the team next year, then good luck to him in finding three more suckers*ahem* players next year.

it's a loaded question... "Do you think you would be willing to come as part of the team as a non player?".

No one in that position is going to say no...

It would be a different story if you say when they are first chosen as part of the 8, being a part of the 8 means that you will need to commit to going to the mosconi cup regardless as to whether you are part of the playing 5. You will have expenses paid (specifically addressing whether it is expenses paid upfront or reimbersed) and get x amount if we win as a playing team member and x amount if we win as a nonplaying team member.

Still interested?

Even that is still a loaded question. He should also set some specific criteria for the ultimate decision. The willy nilly whatever criteria for being selected in addition to the above just isn't right, it puts too much on the potential players.

If done the same way, he'll find that any players he asks will say they will go, but I doubt any will if they aren't selected under those circumstances, and potential pool of players that haven't 'ditched them' will grow smaller and smaller each year.

When I had major surgery on my knee, (patellar tendon reattachment surgery) where they drilled four holes from bottom to top of my knee cap and shaved off the bottom portion of my knee cap then attached four heavy duty sutures to the tendon and threaded them through the holes and tied them off.

I had to wait for the bone to grow back over the tendon and anyone that has had that type of work done where they get down into the bone, it is supposed to be one of the most painful things you can endure.

I was back to work one week from the day of the surgery. I should've been on disability for 4-6 months. The reason I went back to work???'

I couldn't afford to be on disability for 4-6 weeks, let alone 4-6 months.

You ask people to go away for weeks with limited compensation and expect them to say, yeah let me go...when they were expecting to get 10,000 minimum for that same time frame when they initially accepted???

Some people CAN'T afford to do that, the same way I couldn't afford to be laid out for 4-6 months.

Whether the players want to go may not even come into it. You do what you have to do to support yourself and your family.

Ripping into them for that is unacceptable IMO.

What truth???

It’s the internet, JAM. And you’re right, after all these years it doesn’t affect me, RSB was way tougher. It’s actually funny, I was on the phone earlier this week with MG and he alluded to the same thing: keep up the good work, your skin is thick enough to take it.

In this case, you can almost draw a social media wiring diagram on who feels their ox is getting gored. At it’s core it’s just a couple of guys who are friends with some of the players who flaked out on the MC, don’t like that being pointed out, and can’t stand being shown they don’t know nearly as much as they would like everyone to think. In CJ’s case it’s more that MW is putting his heart and soul into coaching the US Mosconi Cup team, while during CJ’s tenure he couldn’t even be bothered to wear team colors. By attacking me in this thread he gets to attack MW by proxy and try and tear down all his good work.

All through this thread it’s been the same thing: you don’t know, all conjecture, why doesn’t someone pick up the phone and call MW. So now look what happens when someone does speak to MW and gets to the truth. Those that had their panties in bunch before -- and had relied on the “you don’t know” defense -- now have their Victoria Secrets so wedged up their behinds that they can barely breathe, lol.

I can manage no-valued-added posters like MahnaMahna and Champ alias Timothy Rose easily enough by putting them on Ignore, so it’s all good. But thank you for speaking up, JAM.

Lou Figueroa

You're still so full of shit... What truth did you get???

What questions did you ask?? How did you ask them? What was his specific answer???

Giving your word about something and saying yeah I would want to go, are TWO COMPLETELY different things.

Then they should have thought it through like adults before making a decision. That's what people do who feel that their word actually means something.

edit: I also feel that if you are willing to play on a team to represent your country, and your main concern is how much you will make, you don't belong on the team to start with.

Absolutely delusional.

Mark actually shared a lot of detail I was unaware of about how the team was put together, and put to rest, for me, a lot of the rumors that have been kicking around about team selection and the monies involved. We had a good chat.

Lou Figueroa

Well at least we can agree they put themselves there in the first place.

Lou Figueroa
hey, it's a start

So you feel no remorse for attempting to ruin someone else's livelihood? Remember these guys are trying to be billiard professionals and you're trying to destroy their lives because they aren't participating in an exhibition. How pathetic it is of you to belittle people because they aren't participating in an exhibition they couldn't participate in in the first place.

Could someone provide me a brief synopsis of where this thread currently stands so I don't have to search 80,000 pages to figure it out?

Who hates who, why the Navy Seals abducted the players so they couldn't go and support the team, etc.

Thanks.

Not Navy Seals, aliens who escaped from Area 51.

You know what would hurt a pool player's livelihood? Being so short-sight that you would not keep your word to go if selected, burn bridges on the way out the door, and miss out on the exposure and networking opportunities being in Blackpool would present. Oh yeah, and by showing you weren't a team player, potentially damaging your prospects in future years.

It would be an easy thing to commit to if we were discussing NBA players going to the Olympics. Broke pool players is a different story.

That's unfortunate. Reportedly those space aliens like to probe certain areas of the body.

I'll bet those guys have a different stance when they return.
