It Just Goes On And On And On.....

And its apparently never, ever going to stop. I break and I break and I break and I break and never ever, except on a rare occasion, do I ever get a chance to run the table.

I went down to my GCIV last night and broke 17 times and only one time did I have a chance - and it was extremely difficult at that. I just got back from downstairs where I broke 10 times and never had one chance - period.

The last break the 1-Ball hid at the last minute behind the 7-Ball and I just threw the break cue down and walked away.

I know I haven't posted much the last few years, and this is primarily the reason why. I don't know why this is happening, but apparently it is indeed going to be a lifelong issue.

Obvious question: does this happen on every table? Or just your home one? Do you ever move the CB around and break from a different spot?

What's even worse IMO is that when you get the opportunity to run the rack, you gotta know it was just a lucky smash of the balls that got you there.

Play straight pool, set up a break shot and shoot it. Now,,, nothin is stoppin you but you. Try to get to 50. Now you're playin pool.

What this guy said^^^^^^^^^^. I have been playing straight pool and practicing only straight pool for about a month. It has moved my game up way faster than any other practice game I have played by myself.

But regarding your break in 9 ball. I had the same problem for awhile. What worked for me is hitting the CB at different speeds and finding what speed will kill the CB in the center of the table while either making the One ball, or putting the One ball near one of the corner pockets in the kitchen. Also what kind of rack are you using? Are you getting a good spread on your break? Details my friend, we need details.

Yes, you just need to figure out how to get the 1-ball to hit the side rail BEFORE the side pocket, and you'll have a shot to the corner a large percentage of the time.

I've been all through this fifty million times on here. No need to bring everything out again. No matter what I do I rarely - RARELY - ever get a chance to run out. I guess I am cursed. Story of my life.

Oh, I didn't realize you were cursed. My bad.

We're having a lot of fun posting]
That is hilarious.

Dcp- could you do like 20 break shots and plot the 1's stoping places on a piece of paper? Post up a pic of the plotted paper promptly, please?

Maybe the pool gods realize you think like a loser. That's what initiated the curse.

You can always try your luck with killing a chicken.... or fingering a midget. If you can talk a midget into fingering a chicken...well, you're 100% totally out from under the cloud.

bahahahaha this actually makes sense!

I like the idea of playing the ghost for a little while. Also maybe you're having trouble getting good racks. Get one if Renfro's Accu Rack Solos and try that out.

Dammit, the title of this thread reminded of that stupid neverending song and now it's stuck in my head.

This is the song that never ends,
Yes it goes on and on my friends,
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just becuase...

Must mean something else in Japanese.

Never heard of it,

Yes, you beeched about this 50mm times already, and prolly nvr took any advice.

At this point, just snap your cues over your knee and live a peaceful life in that apartment over dads garage.

I greatly admire the honesty of your sincerely-expressed genuine frustration with this part of your game. Here’s my recommendation of a time-tested 6-step plan that will run you about 50 to 75 dollars to completely resolve your obviously very troubling dilemma and take it well out of the "lifelong" problem realm. It will like magic immediately solve this literally real-life pool version of an understandably quite un-amusing Rodney Dangerfield situation:

a) Order one of these Samsara tips from any vendor:
Here’s an Ebay vendor with free shipping:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMSARA-BRE...734?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2337110d36

b) Buy any modestly priced 18-ounce cue (you’ll effortlessly get greatly increased “club head” speed on all your breaks).

c) Install, (or have someone install) the new Samsara tip in place of whatever tip is on the 18-ounce cue you obtain.

d) Don’t dome the Samsara tip -- leave it perfectly flat at all times. This enables a dead-center hit on the CB even when you erroneously hit as much as 3/16” off center and enables the ideal stun-back-off-the-pack action, with no use of low-english.

e) Learn to use the loosest possible grip when breaking. The resulting wrist-action you gain, incrementally transfers more energy to the CB with no additional effort.

f) Diligently practice breaking with no more than 75% of your full power. This is important.

You will love the greatly increased run out opportunities your breaks will now result in. And to your pleasant surprise, you’ll begin to see the CB stunning back near center table more often and the one-ball going into a side pocket, or helpfully within the kitchen.

This solution works. Best of luck using all six elements of it.

Your in good company

Most of the times I watch Efren the commentators talk about him not having a good break, I tend to agree with them. Yet he still runs tables. I think not getting frustrated would help. Try breaking at different speeds and from different places and check the rack for loose balls. Make sure you are hitting the cue ball and 1 ball where you intend to. If I go above a certain speed my accuracy suffers, so I apply the same rule to breaking as I learned for pistol shooting years ago in one of the hand gun classes I attended. "Go as fast as you can, but as slow as you have to". I also get a much better break in 9 Ball when I use the Magic Rack.
