****stolen 1953 balabuska**** dallas, tx.

Txstang, you are a trusted member here along with LonestarJim, both you boys know this gentleman, Gene, who I fully believe from this thread is a great guy, an old veteran, who got his cue stolen.

I haven't looked but can we get a nice GB-2 replacement cue for him; are these still avail new or maybe a real nice used one?

I'll donate $20 to start and let's get a few others to kick in what they can and we should be able to make this a nice holiday charity to get Gene back on track. :cool:

Anyone else on board?

best,
brian kc
Brian, you're a good man for starting this.
Gonna ship you a little extra for a beer....
...none of that fancy micro-brewery stuff though, domestic only....
....man's gotta draw a line someplace. :yeah:

Paul,

Where Brian lives, domestic beer is Sam Adams. Where is an original Molson Brador when I need one? Now that's beer!!!

Okay guys; there has been some developments overnight.

Really good ones. :thumbup:

I have received a number of pm's and we have an another person wanting to donate whatever might be needed to make this happen so between his and Jay's kind offers plus the other pledges already made, we are all set on funding. :)

And what could top that, you ask?

Here's what:

In another pm I rec'd an offer for an Adam Bushka tribute that is even nicer than the one that was stolen from Gene.

My first thought was I think it would be nice to get one as close as poss to what Gene had but my mind may have been changed.

The cue that has been offered is an Adam HOF model CS-434 which retails for $900.

The big upside to this cue is that it was made in Japan by Adam and like Gene's cue, it *does not* have the gaudy balabushka signature on it. An fyi, their current balabuskas are made in China.

This one looks just like Genes did but with inlays and nickel rings, and it is *brand new*. :thumbup:

I think it's gorgeous; what do you guys think?

see it here:

http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/hall_of_fame/balabushka-cs-434.htm

Oh, and did I mention that the az member offering it is willing to provide it to us for $400?

We may have Gene's problem solved - even upgraded..

AZ has some incredibly generous people. :cool:

I think that HOF cue is great. go for it.

I hope the old gent approves. It makes for a good Christmas story if we can go through with this.

Well if we have exceeded the price of the cue is there anything else we can get him that we can throw in like some chalk, a chase, or anything? I actually have two extra cases that are 2x4, and I would be willing to donate one to him if you think he would like it or needs one. Super stoked to see the pictures of his reaction when he gets his new cue.

put me in!

if you need it put me in for $20 or $30 whatever you need! He should have a nice case for that cue. Message me and I'll paypal it.

update;

I am waiting to hear back from the current cue owner who will be supplying this nice replacement cue so we can work out the logistics.

At this point we have enough in pledges so we should be covered. I will keep everyone from Kot and down in mind in case any earlier pledges don't come through.

My next post no later than tmrw will be with instructions on who needs to send what amount.

It will be to my paypal acct and I will send the final amount to the cue supplier.

The info and transaction will be transparent all the way, however, I don't know if the cue supplier wants to be annonymous.

And there are a couple of pledges from members who do wish to remain annonymous.

thanks again everyone for your true holiday spirit but, to be honest, I believe everyone would have done the same thing if it was the middle of summer. :thumbup:

Don't be so disconcerted by his response, he's always angry about something. Go to his profile and hit "replies" & you will see there is a pattern to his anger.

What you are trying to do is a wonderful selfless act. It mirrors not only how we should comport ourselves at this time of the year but at all times. May the rolls always be with you for your kindness. Happy Holidays to you.

Thanks you !

Here is Gene ! There was a lot of action tonight at the den and he was there the whole time on the rail, sweatin it !

I've spoken with the BCA league operator here , and we are going to present it to him the first Thursday after we receive the cue. Its A league and masters that night so everyone will be there.

Okay guys; we got action!

I sent paypal payment for Gene's replacement cue; I sent it as a gift so it was $412 total with their fee.

I offered the az member who is making us this great deal for the cue that we could cover shipping and he said, no, he'll also take care of that. :thumbup:

I asked him if he minded if I mentioned who he is and he said he didn't care one way or the other so I will because he deserves credit and notice for his generosity. This is az member cuesterpat. Thank you Pat!

The cue will be shipped Monday to txstang1 (Steve) in TX via USPS Priority Mail and he should have it in time for their Thursday night presentation to Gene.

So, I need to collect $412 minus my $20 pledged making the magic number needed now $392.

Just below is the list of who needs to pay and how much.

But Before You Do...

***PLEASE*** when you send payments to me via paypal, do so as a gift or to family & friends so I don't get hit with fees.

***ALSO VERY IMPORTANT*** When sending paypal payment you MUST put in the note section your az name and that it's for Gene's cue.

Okay, you can go ahead and send your payments to my paypal acct which is BCLyme@aol.com

kickin' chicken = $20 - paid
Tate = $50 - paid
ibuycues = $20 - paid
victorl = $20 - paid
texdance = $20 - mailing payment
bbb = $20 - paid
Mikjary = $25 - paid
daylate$short = $20
bigjay = $25 - paid
pt109 = $20 - paid
asiasdad = $30 - paid
Colonel = $20 - paid
Ty-Tanic = $30 - paid
Cardiac kid = $20 - paid
ScottR = $20
DJ66 = $25 - paid
dvs = $20 - paid
jay helfert = $7

If you indicated that you would pay by check or money order, please pm me for my mailing address.

I will call on our back up pledges to help out if anyone listed above doesn't follow through on what they've pledged.

txstang1, thanks for bringing this problem up here on az and giving the good people here a chance to right a wrong.

I really like the picture you posted of Gene with his Marlboro Golds and cup of coffee ready to sweat some action. I can't wait to see the pics from when he gets his new cue.

To everyone who pledged and to cuesterpat, all of you guys rock! :thumbup: :cool:

To whomever stole Gene's cue, I hope you get what you deserve, soon. :angry:.

best,
brian kc

Is this an entry for the last scam of the year? George was not selling cues in 1957 and was probably not giving them away. Where is Gene Burns dd 214? A pool cue may not be the only thing stolen.

I'm trying to send the money but I don't see an option for sending as a gift. Do you choose after clicking on "Agree and Send Money"?
