FYI I kicked in partially because I felt bad about joking about the identification confusion. Sometimes getting a laugh isn't appropriate. Sounds like the cue meant a lot to Gene and this should ease some of the pain.

Very cool he has another cue on the way.

The matter of what cue model was actually taken reminds me of this http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=385527 Another one that the owner swore he had since 1965 till he remembered that it was another cue he had then.

At least a bit of justice when the theives try to sell the "Balabushka" to be told it's worth $200.
 
Ok guys. the cue is on the way to me.

One item - I said I wanted to present the cue at bca league, on the first Thursday after receiving the cue. The reason for that was that most of the players will be there and most of them know Gene. However, this Thursday is new years day and we do not have league. This was brought to my attention yesterday when i mentioned the plan to a friend of mine.

SO, I know you guys are anxious , as am I. I think we should wait until next week and do it before league, but I could also arrange a smaller gtg to present it to him this Friday night. I just thought it might be more special or meaningful for him if it was done on Thursday with more people gathered around and participating.

What do y'all think ?

You're "our" guy in Texas. Without your original post, none of us would have known of this vet's problem. If you feel waiting a week is the best option, do it. JMHO.

As long as Genes new year resolution isn't to get a new cue this weekend, it sounds like a good plan. With everyone there before league night giving a round of applause would really be special.
 
My thoughts exactly ! Without y'all this wouldnt be happening either, so I wanted to run it by everyone to make sure that was acceptable.
 
I also would be okay with presenting Gene his new cue next Thursday if it would have more impact then.

Please do let us know, though, Steve, when it arrives (should be today) and that all is well.

I'm very happy to say that with all the response we had from kind az members, we only needed to hit Jay up for $7, *AND* after he was put on the pledge list for the $7, I had another 5 or 6 guys who stepped up making offers to donate and they were just waiting in the wings in case we needed them. Thanks to those guys!

Awesome job AZ'ers. Thanks for getting it out there too, Steve. I have it posted on my FB as well. I will be there Thursday to see the presentation. I have known of Gene for a while & just recently had a conversation with him for the first time. Awesome guy that you can tell still loves the game of pool whether he still plays or not. I have seen him there for years always sweating any action that comes thru the door. Should be a special presentation for him.
