Shawn's post did nothing other than make Mark upset for no reason

Let's be perfectly clear. Shawn's post did nothing other than make Mark upset for no reason. If we got upset every time we read something we didn't like on line it would be grueling.....so we don't allow ourselves to be "thin skinned".

It's not like Cyclop has any money or they'd change the color of the 6 and 7 ball. ;)

Oh, I'm sure Mark is use to folks arguing back. He's not use to childish antics when professional pool players post information that is not factual that hurt the folks that put money in Shawn's pocket as well as many other professionals.

It was just plain stupid. And Shawn realized that and deleted the post. Basically, Mark should take that "act" as an apology, because he realized he was wrong and fixed it right quick.

Valuable lesson learned on Shawn's part I'm sure.

I believe we've established that Shane is the only American player surviving on tournaments. So professional has not survived, as a matter of fact it's been destroyed.

I don't blame Mark, it's not his doing, if I were him I'd ONLY concentrate on amateur leagues and pull out of professional pool entirely (after all it's not working and he said he'd be okay without "professional players").

These "professional tournaments" only pay 30% of the field above their entree/buy back fees, and out of that 30% only about 30% make a profit (excluding all travel/room expenses) - this leaves only 9% of the "professional players" making any money at all for a week or 10 days work.

It was disclosed last year by AtLarge that $45,000 is taken out of the tournament (DCC) in "buy back" fees......how much of this go to the "professional player"? 0.000%

So really, only 1 out of 10 players (pro or otherwise) will make a profit from these tournaments. And the thought of cancelling them is a bad thing? Sometimes the "old" must die for the new to live, multiply and accell. Pro Pool has reached this point, and must make a life changing decision.

Hi CJ,

I think the 'Pros' should look back into the formation of the PGA as a model.

But... those were men of a different generation.

Profit is a good thing, but it's not just one sided.

When I open a businesses doors I have a staff that is paid. On Monday morning if their check doesn't clear they don't come back to work.

Pool players are also employees of a tournament, they should be compensated. When only 1 or 2 out of 10 make a profit there's a problem. In the nightclub business we fire everyone and reopen under a different name.....this probably has to happen in Pro pool too.....only time will tell.

When the "employees" have a crappy attitude, provide horrible customer service and fail to satisfy the Customers, the business fails. Then the paycheck bounces.

You're right, it's not one sided.

KRUPA: If a professional athlete on the level of Tiger Woods or Lebron James said something like this the backlash would be huge. The only reason it hasn't exploded is that no one knows (or cares) who Shawn Putnam is. .

As a card-carrying Parasite, I can only say this:

Shawn who? isn't he the guy with some sort of problem with his balls? They turned some pukey colors or something?

Poor guy, should see a doctor. If he can afford one.

I actually love cyclop balls...

i'm guessing that someone(s) realized the err of their marketing strategies to promote their pending pro tourney, via sponsors?

i find his parasite comment ironic, as every time we've been around him in conversation w/ other pros, he ignores everyone & acts superior. i have several pics of him (taken on purpose) from 1.5 yrs ago @ Marietta Billiards. FUMING in the background for 2 hrs (and i assume biotching to the locals) - because KK9 was playing JA on "the table" (so he had to wait).

don't shit where you eat, Shawn - cause those are the same groups of people that you'll need in 2015 "since there aren't enough tournies for yáll to pay your bills"....

I actually love the way the cyclop balls play. I played with them at the USBTC this year for the first time.

However, I think a little information will go a long way to explaining Shawn's attitude regarding that table.

That front diamond at MBC was Shawn's personal table, it did not belong to MBC.

So if he came in to practice on it and Matt and Johnny were playing on it for two hours while he sat waiting to practice, that might be why he was upset.

Me and Johnny were playing some bonus ball and Johnny kept getting into conversations with people coming up to him and Shawn finally said hey me and Jaden are gonna play some ten ball if you're gonna just stand there talking.

I'll admit that I was getting a little frustrated myself waiting up to 45 minutes for Johnny to take a shot.

We will get there, but it will take dedication, courage, and the will to win.

Yes, the golf was supercharged by three men, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Arnold Palmer. The focused on Shell's Wonderful World of Golf because TV (real tv, not web cams) is the key. Personalities always come first, then the game, then the money.

Shane is the #1 employee, so I presume you are talking about him

Are you saying Shane has a crappy attitude? Does Shane provide horrible customer service? Shane is the #1 employee, so I presume you are talking about him specifically.

Not sure when KK9 and Pinklady were there? The Pro-AM has been gone from MBC for awhile now. The only Diamond is the Pro.

I assume the Pro-Am was Shawn's?

I can say that although I do not know him, he always seemed a bit uppity to me.

Ok, back on topic!

You took what I said and somehow translated it to that? You have some real issues.

Shane is the only pro pool player ...so I connected the dots.

You are free to plug in any name you choose. The "employee" in this scenario is a pro pool player and Shane is the only pro pool player ...so I connected the dots.

Who would you prefer to use "Shawn," go ahead, I say "shane" you say "shawn" - it's just to make a point anyway.

I know it's not there now, I believe it's taken apart in his ex's basement now... but that's besides the point...

If Shawn was there waiting to play, it was still there. I don't think Shawn has been back there since he left.

true, it was Shawn's table, in Johnny's hall; now gone. and as i recall, they played for 1 hr before Shawn arrived, so he only waited <1hr. if JA didn't disclose to Shawn - that's on JA & we didn't know. i can confirm that JA was not wasting time w/ fans, etc talking. (it was a tight match ; JA didn't even talk to me)

but that doesn't excuse him from being an ASS.

if Shawn's panties were in-a-wad, he should have manned-up & said something. and/or if he wanted to "work it"....we could have played Scotch Doubles & we wouldn't be having this side of the conversaton.

....Some people spend valuable time responding and explaining things- and to have that 'discussion' erased is very rude in my opinion....

RobMan...SP was "a bit uppity" even back when he was a nobody playing league in Youngstown OH! LOL

A few years ago JA and SP were doing some "exhibitions" (although I hesitate to call them that) at some FL poolrooms. I arrived at one in Gainesville shortly after they had left (they apparently hung around for maybe an hour). I asked the patrons who were playing about what had transpired, and was told all they did was try to get people to pay them just to play a game, trying to get gas money...no trickshots, no interaction with the crowd...just money-grubbing. Here's the funny part...most of the people I talked to (management and patrons) didn't even know who they were!
