My Grandpa said, "Kid, you're too young to play this game but you're old enough to rack." I became a racking machine at the age of 6, that was 1970.

When a Pool Player dies and goes to Heaven, God hands him a bigger stick and says to look at all those Stars and Planets. I hear my Grandpa say, "I'll take that planet and bank it off the Andromeda Galaxy and into the black hole in the corner. GAME."

Too many possible captions so I'll go with the easy one.

The first time stepping into a pool room was at the age of 7.

It's definitely an advantage to start out in sports/games at a young age. Similar to learning a new language, our minds are a sponge to the vast array of shots, spins, angles, and strategic situations

The first time stepping into a pool room was at the age of 7. I played one of my friends from school and we both had to stand on Pepsi crates to reach our "TOI positions". ;)

By 9 years old I had ran two racks of 8 Ball in a row on a 9' table and at the age of 11 had ran a rack of 15 ball rotation. By age 12 I won my first regional event (in Mo.) and a few years later would win the National High School Championships in Chicago. Incidentally, I played in the Pro "mini tournament" and finished 3rd, with a final loss to Earl Strickland.

The game and it's surroundings taught me a lot in my teenage years, and introduced me to adventures and memories that gave me an advantage in the "real world of hustlers," the Business World

I think Grandpa is telling him to put a Touch Of Inside on it.

Pool isn't dead and it's not dying.
Relax.
Economic and popularity cycles come and go.

Yes CJ, we know who you are. Is that a picture of you by chance?

Just so you know.

The thread wasn't originally wasn't about you, but it is now.

Also, if you are trying to reach Mary Avina status, you won't be able to do that until you post half nudey pictures of yourself all over Face Book.

But anyway. Great job on trying to Steal the Thunder from the OP.

Thanks Dead Money! I have photographed lots of pro tournaments, but could not let this particular photo-op go!

Everything comes back. Population is aging. Pool is ripe for a takeoff if the Pool Wizards play their cards right. Golf is dead with the yuppies along with racquette ball and running. Manufacturers should be advertising their wares on TV and catch this group. There r enough basements around to throw a table up. Pool parlors with some gaming machines, pin ball, ping pong, darts, music and booze if they can get a license. When not playing my table I'll go to my local parlor which has a bar, kareoke, darts etc., and recording studio, the place is buzzing on weekends. No equipment needed!

It may be well worded, but I don't know if Mary Avina likes to have her name being brought up when the conversation has nothing to do with her.

Not a dig at anyone, but I don't think trying to belittle her does anything to deal with anyone's beef with CJ if they have one.

With that said...if you get partially disrobed to attract viewers, I don't think they'll be looking at your cueing skills. That goes for CJ as well. Please don't let him disrobe because that would be a "Touch Of Indecency". Lord, don't make me poke my eyes out. :)

new cycles usually come with new product or ideas or imagination. It just won't happen because it's historical. The Arena of ideas and $$ is dormant still at this point. I think Manufacturers will benefit from streaming all sorts of billiards. Poolhalls probably going the way of Spittoons.

I still have no clue why people keep saying there is no money in pool. There is a ton of money spent on pool every year. The ideas are there, too. Unfortunately, stupid and drama get a lot more attention.

There really isn't enough $$. Most of over flow $$ goes to electronics. Movie Theater's are going the way of poolrooms. We have our own Theater's now and much cheaper with more benefits, If Streaming keeps improving then the Manufacturer will profit. $1700 not a lot for a Theater room table nowadays. All with out dealing with the public.

I am fortunate to have a table at home and yet I still go down to the pool hall/bar for league, tournaments, lessons, etc. I think people having tables at home only increases the practice time and possibly the addiction to pool. Which hopefully translates to even more people coming to the pool hall to play more and more.

The problem is that there are too many people with home tables who never use them because they never got any lessons and can only bang around missing anything more than a short cut shot.

Are you crazy? I don't see somebody putting out $5k for an XBOX, nor $1k+ for a controller. A good set of balls is $200+.

Theaters are going out of business, too? Somebody may want to let places like Cinetopia know.

Isn't enough money? You can walk into most bars and find a table. People will plunk quarters into those things, pay $16/hr or whatever it is at some places.. it's just disconnected, that's all. Everybody is scrambling to make their $20k and live like kings.

Hopefully I'll have a schedule for something by the end of the month. Should work alright. Just took a little thought and consideration.
