How Would You Play This?

You're shooting at the 7 ball in the side pocket. How would you try to get out from here?

Cut the 7 in the side and go 2 rails between the 8 and 9 and come up behind the 8 and shoot it in the opposite corner from the 9.

Cut the 7 in the side with inside stun. Goes two rails just above the 8. 8 in corner, slight draw 9 in same corner.

Why move the ball more than you have to?... I know there's only three balls left and the chances of ending up without a shot would be rare but still why take the chance?

are you on the hill?

do you dog it?

how fast and true is the table?

if in doubt go the additional rail and play th 8 in the corner opposite the 9

Depends on the table speed. Where I play, I'd

just slow roll the seven in.

.

Unless you're playing on super fast cloth with live rails, I'd do this. ^^^

Set it up on my table which is average speed and hit it 5 out of 5 times.

Best,
Mike

Doesn't matter how fast and true the table is.. It's a short shot..The faster it is the slower you play the cue... The object ball will just travel farther than a slow table but then again so will the object ball letting you hit it softer...Even if you haven't had a shot yet at least you've been watching and you should be able to judge this speed...True(ness) won't play a role either if you play the shot slow roll..

Nope. You have to cut it slightly thinner to avoid throw and the under cut if you shoot softer. A thinner cut sends the cue ball farther and you could roll to the wrong side of the 8 ball.

I would slow roll 7 in side then have QB nestle tightly right up to 8 ball. I do it all the time.

Nope... Right back at ya...

Equipment affects this shot. Cloth speed, ball cleanliness and rail rebound change the shot speed and angle. Or I could just say, "Nope", again.

This is one of those outs that looks easy, but isn't. I would concentrate on pocketing the 7 softly in the side, no english. Even if I end up on the wrong side of the 8, I'd rather try to work with that, as opposed to trying something fancy with the 7.

I was able to slow roll the 7-ball as shown, on my table, for easy position on the 8-ball on the lower right corner.

However, I went ahead shot it with a little more speed and my table with just follow rolls this cueball between the 8 & 9 for short side position on the 8-ball to the upper right pocket.
