If it was that easy, there wouldn't be a question.
I think the issue is that the term “Pro Player” has different meanings. To some it’s about income and to others contribution to the sport (the term Ambassador of Our Sport gets used often) and to others it’s a skill level (or their playing speed). I know that I struggle with this. When I see that someone is a “Pro Player” and they play at a B players speed (and I don’t think there is or should be a curve due to sex, age, religion, handi capable etc.) I don’t always get it.
I have read in this thread people state JB is anywhere from a B to a A Player. But as a female, that is good enough to play in the WPBA which does make her a Pro Player.
Maybe it’s time that we (AZBILLIARDS community) come up with and vote on real guide lines for the skill levels (player abilities) from D – World beating Pro (leaving out the men women age thing)…
If it WERE that easy to determine skill level, then there wouldn't be a question about it.
The truth is that the majority of even serious players, AREN'T full time players, and the better players aren't necessarily BETTER players but are rather, better players more consistently and under pressure.
When you're talking about skill level in pool, there are MANY different possible things you're talking about.
I know people that would be considered A level players that either A) can't runout consistently or B) Choose not to because they know their limitations.
They choose the right shots for THEM consistently though and can beat players with more skill than them.
The best players in the world aren't necessarily more skillful than other players, but they are at that skill level at a much higher percentage of the time they play.
The conditions also vary substantially as to when players are consistently playing at a higher skill level.
How often have people said, "yeah he may not have a lot of tournament wins but match up with him and see how you do"?
Some people just can't play to their skill level under pressure or under certain types of pressure, that doesn't change their skill level, but it sure changes people's perception of their skill level.
