Jenn Barretta Pro player... REALLY?

I'm not offering 10k to an anonymous troll that could easily turn into a bait and switch deal. I think it's ridiculous that people feel it's necessary to create threads bashing people who are playing bad. And maybe this guy is better.. that's cool. She played bad... she's played bad before, she'll play bad again. She's played good... She got 3rd in the women's event, how terrible can she be? I'm sure Mr. Jester would have won the whole thing...

Yes, she finished 3rd but considering the field, I would not be bragging about that. That event was only going to be won by one person & everyone knew it.

Ah, I see. If you're not first, you're last. Gotcha.

People mainly remember who wins an event, not who finished third. This is common in pretty much any sort of competition.

Like I told you before the event, no NY woman stood a chance of winning & that was exactly the case.

I am not going to say she is not a pro, she is ranked as one from a legitimate (albeit poorly run at this time sadly) organization. Plus last I checked I don't think they would allow her to enter any women amateur events which is another indicator of pro status.

I am curious though about a remark from earlier about not being able to think of 25 people that would be the favorite over her in NYC, did you mean that in a straight up game of 9 ball?

Also is that $500 a set offer open to anyone?

IMO,
Pro pool players are defined as people who play pool for a living.
Pro level is a skill-based measurement.
There are retired pro like Janette Lee, Denis Hatch, or Yang Chin Shun who no longer play pool for a living, so they are not pro players anymore, but possibly still have pro level.
There are also players who may stay right below the threshold of pro level BUT they play pool for a living so they are pro.
To be honest, Jenn has the skill of US Women pro, not world woman pro. And if she plays pool as her primary job, then she's ,by definition, a pro.
But I doubt that :).

I could try to make a list if you're going to cry about it but off the top of my head I'm struggling to think of 25 people that live 20 miles from the empire state building that could spot her playing 9ball. Maybe there is and regardless, If I were in that top 25 I'd feel pretty good about my game. But feel free to tell me how wrong I am.

What do you think?

I would take your money FOR SURE! I know this. It would have to be for much more than $500 too. just to cover my expenses to get there and then my time and make it worth while. Seriously you don't want any part of that bet.

Your acting like a total loser. JB is a top female player and that is for sure.

I'm guessing that you are talking about the wpba.
Why do you consider it "poorly run"?

The failure of the WPBA was to make it a non profit. They bulit a brand but could never sell it to someone that truly could make it into someone worthwhile and profitable. It was built on the premise of get $25K from ESPN for TV rights, give an ESPN producer $25K to create the show. An obvious break even proposition.

WPBA also had issues inside itself where some players felt that a core of players were given preferrential treatment. This was in regards to something simple such as dress code to allowing a WPBA player to play or not play in a non sanctioned WPBA event.

I know she has fans out there but come on. I'm watching her play at TS against a very low level player and she is struggling. The level of play is mid level league play at best. She is supposed to be a PRO?? I would be ashamed to call myself a pro with a straight face if I were her. This match is taking so long for the lack of ability. I know she is nice on the eyes for the guys and maybe some of the girls but that don't make you a PRO player. She came third in a womens tourney recently but the major players were not there and the ones that were ate her lunch. What makes a lady player a pro these days??

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Ok, let's go. Time to bash another female pro. I seem to remember seing this topic about 50000000 times before on this forum, but at least there is a new target this time:rolleyes:. So what exactly is your problem here? She is a female pro, and the level of play there is lower than on the non-existing male pro tour. Are you shocked by this? But I get it, being convincingly beaten by the best in the word is a crime. How dare she finish third and then claim to be a pro?! The nerve of some people...So how does it work in your world? Because most people think that when people pay you to play pool, or to wear their logos while competing in tournaments, that makes you a pro. There is no magical "pro standard" and even if there was it would be way lower for women than for men. Simply because fewer women than men play pool and there are also certain physical advantages.

And yes, being "easy on the eyes" makes people want to sponsor you, which in turn makes a pro career possible. I don't see how ANYONE can be shocked or even surprised by this, unless they're angry and insecure about nobody wanting to put their ugly mug on a t-shirt.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but jester is prettier than Jen too.

Damn him.

The biggest crowd of people on site was her and Sossei playing. She's a good representative for the game and plays pretty well. There aren't 20 real pros in this country but hundreds labeled as pro.

what's your price

How much are you looking for?
