An Open Discussion about an improper Banning

OK, I know who you think I am and I'm not. I don't sell used cars. I also didn't make any comment about the deal you had with her. To be perfectly honest, that didn't involve me directly and I tried to stay out of that. I don't think bringing other people into our conversation is very professional but I should have expected that from you.

I also didn't specifically bring up the Oasis and was trying not to do that. The owner is way too classy to ever complain about you publicly so I was trying to be respectful about that.

However, since you brought it up...

A lot of people in Chico were excited when you arrived. The table you worked on at the Down Lo turned out amazing and for awhile you pretty much walked on water. You arrived at the very end of May and the expectation was that in a couple of months the 4 existing GC's would be redone a 5th added and possibly 6th. People were excited and the buzz was huge.

Then a couple of months passed and people wondered why the tables weren't done. Finally, one table was done. As promised it played exceptionally but what was left was curiosity about the others. "Don't worry, they'll all be done in a month or so..."

Time went by and the tables still weren't all done. You were still parked in the parking lot so we assumed you were hard at work on them but still not sure where they were at. "Don't worry, they'll be done by the end of October..."

October came and went and the tables still weren't done. So that's two tables in 5 months. The third and fourth followed over the coming weeks bringing the grand total to 4 tables redone over the course of SEVEN MONTHS!!!

During that time we all got to endure your ego on full display. I'm not going to bring up a lot of other events.

The point is that during that 7 month period you went from walking on water to being the guy we all hope we could just put up with long enough for you to finish the tables and leave.

And now you're gone. There is still a table unfinished. So that means it took 7 months to finish 4 tables and we have no idea if the 5th will get done or not.

I'm sure the owner of the Oasis has good faith that you will finish it. He's just that much of an optimist. He's a classy, sweet guy who still does walk on water for those of us who are regulars at the Oasis. I'm not sure as many others who have had interactions with you feel quite the same way.

I'm not sure what you were hoping would be your legacy after working in Chico. You arrived larger than life but left being the guy who took 7 months to finish 4 tables.

And again, I am not insulting your results. The tables play great. But you acting like we should feel blessed that you did them at all wears thin and your ego and attitude take some of the magic out of your work pretty fast.

I'm trying to be nice here, Glen. I'm not getting nasty or calling names. I'm being honest about my experiences with you. I'll even admit that I don't have all of the inside story. You act all indignant that everyone here doesn't just live in awe of you but you never take a moment to step outside of yourself and see how you come across to others. In my opinion, you should think a little bit about the way you carry yourself and how you do business. Otherwise you are going to continue being the guy people just hope they can tolerate long enough for you to finish the tables and leave.

Now there's the whole problem, you have no idea of all the other tables I worked on in the Chico area, you have no idea of the Diamond tables that were shipped to the Oasis for me to deliver, and you have no idea how bad the tables at the Oasis really were, and you have no idea the trips I've made to go and pick up those 2 extra 9ft tables to go in the Oasis....yet, you only see the surface of what I've done, not the behind the seens, even the conversations I've had with Stacy "the owner" about the side jobs I've done, some of them for his friends....yet, with your outside observation of my time there at the Oasis, you've only seen what I haven't done, and NOT what I have....great job....LOL

I haven't attacked your work but merely the manner in which you do it. You are basically the soup nazi of table mechanics. Bow down and pay homage to the God of Diamondizing or no table for you.

I don't have even remotely enough experience in pool to speak for anyone else but I'd almost rather have a second rate table than have to tolerate a first rate blowhard.

Go ahead. Attack my pool skills. I have none.
Tell me I don't know the first thing about working on tables. I admit that.
Accuse me of not knowing the whole story about what happened at the Oasis. I have admitted that up front.
How about accusing me of not being able to engage in civil disagreements in an online forum? Good luck with that.

I made a small comment early on in this thread, in jest, about my actual experience with you and your response was to reply twice in this thread to that comment and to give me a negative reputation comment. You are a forum bully. It's that simple. I'm new here and I'm still willing to call you out on that. In this case, I also happen to know you are just like this in real life so now I'm calling you out on that too. Don't like it? Fine. Get the mods to drop the ban hammer on me.

I will never leave the kind of mark on pool that you have but I will certainly do my best NOT to have the ones who I do encounter regret that experience.

key word "almost".

with all due respect, since you said that you do not know what the arrangement was between RKC and the owner of Oasis regarding the time it has taken (Glen was working on other jobs, also, including some referred by Oasis owner), then why sweat him about it?

Just curious.

Here's a question I'd like you to answer please. In your professional opinion, how long should the job of rebuilding, modifying, and refinishing the 6 GCs at the Oasis Bar & Grill taken from start to finish?

My comments haven't been as much about his work as they have been about the way he works. Which, coincidentally, appears to be exactly how he behaves on this forum. I guess he's at least consistent. I sweat him about it because he's an obnoxious blowhard who, regardless of his arrangement with the Oasis, has found ways to annoy or offend a number of people in Chico while he was here. I am not speaking in any way for the owner.

I actually tried to keep my opinions to myself about him on AZB. I made one comment about my personal experience with people telling him to F off in person (the original topic of this thread) and he decided to turn that into a bigger thing than it needed to be. And then he went too far, in my opinion, by throwing other people under the bus as it relates to the Hard Times conversation.

He feels the need to insult other people's work. Fine. Those people aren't here and are too classy to reply. I'm not too classy to reply. I don't have the experience to speak for how long the tables should have taken but I do know that he could probably conduct himself a whole lot more professionally than he chooses to both here an in person.

In the end, forums thrive on opinions. I give mine openly and he is welcome to disagree. As I'm sure he will continue to do quite loudly.

I don't know. Honest answer. If I extrapolate out based on how long it took to do 4 tables then I'm guessing another few months at least for all 6.

Here's a question for you: are you actually going to finish the job you started there?

I nominate Floppage for rookie of the year.

you are railing on this guy whose work you felt took too long but you don't have any idea how long it was supposed to take, or the degree of work that was needed, or what the owner and RKC agreed to, or that Glen was working on other side jobs that the owner was aware of, even arranged some.

that's bad form, imo.

You admitted that the end result was terrific.

Is your only real issue with RKC that he has a big ego?

That was already known.

As for the reference to Glen being disrespectful of another Cali mechanic, if you go back and reread the thread you'll see that Glen was baited into defending why he took a job. That the owner reached out to him.

and seriously, how many guys was it you saw with your own eyes telling Glen fvck you?

that one amazes me.

Could you give your definition of "rebuilding, modifying and refinishing on these particular tables please?

I feel like he's obnoxious and anyone that dares to disagree with him is immediately attacked. In my opinion, that's more than just ego. I also do feel like 7 months to finish 4 tables seems a little long regardless of how many other favors or tables were done in that time. More importantly, I wonder if he will even finish the two that are left. I had no idea before joining AZB how many stories there were of him taking forever to start on tables, finish tables, etc.

I heard a version of the Hard Times story that differs slightly from his but admittedly that's just hearsay. Either way, saying he was baited to directly insult someone else's work like he did is a stretch. Coincidentally those same mechanics have also been to Chico and left with a much better reputation, regardless of how he feels the tables were done.

I heard two people tell him that to his face and at least a couple of others say it under their breath as they walked away. Granted, in a loud bar it's possible that he may not have heard it but I know what I saw/heard. He is an obnoxious ass in person. I say that knowing he's bigger than I am and that he may choose to confront me personally for saying it and I'm fine with that too. I've had my ass kicked by better people than him and I'm still running my mouth.

I am not sure this thread is going to go anywhere good so maybe I need to step out. I enjoy a good war of words occasionally but in his case I believe I'd have to give him a little too much of a spot. My guess is that he is just going to keep replying until he has ensured he got the last word. And as far as I'm concerned he's welcome to it.

A few people have reached out to me for my opinion on some of this and I will continue to share it but getting into a public name calling session every time he posts just risks that dominating my time here and that is definitely not my intention.

Since you believe everything you read.....I'll continue on what I posted earlier in this thread to make my point to you, as I did to your hero RKC.

This is my grandfather. He is a master a lightsaber fighting.

Right now he is in a galaxy far, far away but should be home soon and I can have him give you a call.

I wasn't able to get to the end of your post because you lost me with the inaccurate comment about RKC being my hero.

I knew then I couldn't trust anything else you had to say.

Oh but you are learning to not trust the written word of the internet.

Lesson over.

Here's an answer to your question. If you're in the need to know, then you already know, and if you don't know, you'll never know....okay?
