I was just curious what some of the larger packages that have been run are. Preferably ones that have been seen in person and not just a story someone told about how great they used to play.

I came here to say I think Ron Jeremy is probably up there...

Jonah Falcon holds the Guinness Record at 13.5", AND I beat Atlarge to listing a statistic on this website!

Largest I have personally heard about/believe and its verifiable was Johnny Archer in a race to 13, broke and ran the set on Django while gambling.
Small table, Dave Matlock ran IIRC something like 20 racks (cant remember exact number, but it was up there) and it was seen and talked about by people who I feel are trustworthy.

I have run a sixer on a barbox, but on my home table a four is my best, and on a 9 foot diamond I can't seem to best a 2...SIGH more practice and less AZB maybe? lol

My wife tells me I'm above average but I think she's just making me feel good. Either way, she makes me feel good.

Actually I think Archer ran 15 then as he also ran the first few racks of the next set. Either him or Bustie said that during some interview, maybe on TAR?

Dechaine ran 8 racks of 10 ball against Archer in a tournament not long ago which is probably like 10+ racks of 9 ball.

We have Earl with the milion $ run of 10, I think he did 11 then if my memory is correct.

What exactly do we consider a run out for a "package"? Is running 4 balls to finish a rack then breaking in the 9 twice then making a 1-9 combo a 4 pack?

In my mind, no.

I think in order for someone to say they ran 5 racks, it would be from the break and at least 5-6 balls before it's a "run-out".

So then how many multi rack runouts will we have if they actually had to run the rack?

Any rack that you get out without the the other person taking a turn...

Snaps, break and runs, and early outs count... but finishing someone else's rack does not, playing safe and getting ball in hand does not count. Playing a push and the other person giving it back to you and then running out does not count.

In person, I saw Chip Compton break and run 7 racks. On the 8th, he scratched getting shape from the 8 to the 9.

Back in the day, Bob Vanover got the first break in a race to 9 in finals of Texas Open. He broke and ran out the set.

A long time ago-----

For $50 per rack Jimmy Matz broke and ran seven
racks in a row against Earl Stricklin.

Earl said he'd never forget it.

I like that definition. I think sometimes people have faulty memories and confuse a streak with a package. For example I've been re-watching TAR1. On day 2 several times Grady says "Yesterday Shane ran 8 or 9 racks." Actually what happened was Shane won 10 in a row, with a B&R package of 4. He was in total control of the table the whole time and in three games played a lock-up safety and got BIH.

Niels Feijen's 15-pack was believed to be the 9 ball record when he did it over a decade ago. It happened while Niels was warming up for a Eurotour event in, I think, 2003. At the time, the feat was reported on AZB Headline news.

Johnny Archer's 13-pack against Francisco Bustamante is well-known as is Earl Strickland's 11-pack against Nick Mannino.

Many years ago, I heard that Lassiter ran a 21-pack in nine ball and asked my friend Irving Crane whether it was true. Irving said he had heard about it, too, but that nobody could verify it. Irving did add, however, "I would not doubt it!" Lassiter was, by far, the best nine-baller back then. Still, it is uncertain whether Lassiter's 21-pack ever happened.

In 10-ball, the biggest package I've seen was Dechaine's 8-pack against Archer in the Predator 10-ball event at the Riviera a few years ago.

Shane, in a TAR podcast, once claimed a 14-pack against the 10-ball ghost, also a truly remarkable feat.

I seem to also recall reading once that bar table legend Dave Matlock ran a 28-pack in bar table 8-ball.

I watched Shannon Daulton run an 8 or 9 pack at the Smoky Mtn Shootout a few years back. It was 9 ball on a BB. Ktown was there along with his dad who btw is as likable as anyone I've ever met

Shane did have a 7 pack on the super tight TAR table.

When the TAR table was still super tight, Shane ran a seven pack to close out the first day against I believe it was Alex.
