Will Mike Surber Ever Get Justice ? ? ?

Kind of doesn't look like his hair Jam.

The Milk Carton pictures would work very altho pretty hard to implement it.
So many Dairy producers in many states.

Maybe people wouldn't want their kids using a carton with pictures of criminals on them.
With the caption underneath. "Wanted for Murder".

Myself, I seriously hope and know that eventually, this creep will get caught.

It would be very interesting to find out what his time line was before and after the murder.

He has to be around somewhere, South America or even Canada.

I do see similarities for sure. It doesn't hurt to ask. Gulfport Doc saw this creep in person. He would know. I am going to send him a PM. ;)

I found another photo of Robert Grunsfeld and compared it. I don't know. The nose looks different, but thanks for keeping this alive and for your monitoring. It just might be the only way this creep is going to get caught, people like you helping. Thanks!

there certainly are things that people can do in an attempt to alter their appearance, however, short of plastic (or reconstructive) surgery, some things will always remain the same.

starting with what, for me, would be the most obvious, the overall shape of the head and then how the face fits within the head.

then the features like the nose, eyes , mouth, lips and cheeks, their shapes, sizes, distances and relationship to the other facial featured. Also, the ears.

Finally, the hair, easy to change but, again, some things like the hairline will not be very changeable though shaving or wigs or dye can alter the appearance.

then, of course, height, weight, overall look and any other *distinguishing* characteristics, scars, tattoos, or trends in what they wear, what they like to do, drink, smoke and any other habits that may help with is.

back to physical appearance.

the example just above shows me, straight away, that this is not our suspect because the shape of the head is not the same.

Our suspect has more of a vertically oblong egg-shaped head along with the genuine receding high hairline.

The picture of the guy jailed in TX looks like a much more round shaped head.

I would hate to miss an opportunity for the real-killer to be caught so please, anyone, feel free to tell me if you think I may have this wrong.

Mike deserves his justice.

best,
brian kc

More photos of the creep. The eyebrow shapes and placement on the face look a wee bit different.

plus I think the TX guy has less hair front top-center as well as the shape of the hairline.

no wigs, shaves or dyes concealing it.

The Texas guy was in jail for 24 years and then was in halfway house with an ankle bracelet for 4 years. He was a sexual predator. I don't know if he could have traveled to Ocean Springs with that ankle bracelet.

He wasn't ordered to live at the halfway house until he attempted another assault after his prison release if I'm reading this correctly...

In 2010, he was ordered to live at the halfway house he escaped from after he attempted to kidnap an adult to sexually assault, the state notes. He has used a stun gun on his victims, handcuffed them and sprayed tear gas in their eyes while he raped them, the state says.

Hi JAM! Yes, there are a few similarities: the eyes, the nose. However "Cooper's" forehead was taller, and his brow was fairly prominent. The Texas guy may be a wee bit tall as well. If he's showing nearly 5' 10" in the 2nd photo on AZb, Mike's killer was roughly 5' 7" to 5' 8". The suspect was very adept at looking friendly and non-threatening. He did say to someone at the poolroom that he'd just gotten out of jail. But yet anything he said can't be counted on as truthful.

I'm very grateful to you and the others who have kept on looking for the suspect. You and Eric in particular have been tenacious. There is also a PI here in Gulfport who keeps following up. In fact we just looked at another criminal's picture this week who, while close, was not the guy.

After 4 years, I don't know if OSPD is still following the case. The original detective has I believe left the OSPD. And I don't know if any of the other agencies are doing anything with it. They do have the suspect's DNA, so if there is ever a chance to match it with a suspect, they can produce it.

Thanks very much~ Doc

I wonder how Mike Surber would have brought in the new year, were he still alive.

Will 2014 be the year his murderer is captured?

I hope so.

priorities

I cant believe this guy who is seen fairly clearly ON TAPE is still not caught!!

Priorities are probably the issue. Mike was a card dealer and gambler, makes him one of the fringe people that aren't that important. Kill a local politician or someone in their family, kill a wealthy business owner, then they will hound the perpetrator until he is caught and fried. Cases like Mike's get a strong look at when they are fresh and then maybe once a year if a detective is trying to make an easy score. Odds are pretty good this killer has been in and out of police hands since he was wanted to question concerning Mike and nobody made the connection.

Something else, murder cases are budget busters talking both cash and man hours. Many of the small departments and prosecutors offices literally can't afford to try somebody for murder. When they do, they want it to be a slam dunk, not a case that might be a little murky.

When trying to find him ourselves it might be a thought to remember his hairline is probably receding and hair thinning or gone on it's own.

Just curious , was there anything left at the crime scene that could link anyone to the crime , like hair or fingerprint ?If all they have is this blurred picture it would seem almost impossible barring confession to convict anyone .

I dont think we were really getting that type of info but there was quite a crime scene that was discovered 48 hrs? too late. Im sure they have some evidence unless they are helpless.
