No, the inning is scored as 99, the scratch negates the ball that was pocketed and one point comes off the the previous total score. This used to be asked at Derby from players that are not familiar with the straight pool rules. How else would the rack count be accurate? you would have to spot 2 balls using your logic.

Another way of looking at it is the run is 99, but the inning is 98. In a real game, you would have netted 98. In a run competition your run was 99.

Nice run - again.

I have a question. On the final break shot how do decide which corner ball to hit? I usually try to draw back into the corner ball nearest me simply because it is easier for me to calculate how much English to use doing it that way.
